What I mean by this is that for 30 Minutes, teams play a skirmish type of match with a few things changed:
  • Players respawn in the same mech every 2 minutes.
  • Each team has a territory which allows them to get out into the map and prevent enemy team from camping.
  • The map is medium size, with little to no cover to prevent hiding of each team.
  • Bonuses for kills earned.

OFC there would be some unique rules too, such as Solo que only, and a few other things as well.

The Idea is barebones, and I think this might be a good game mode for those who want true mech destruction or skirmish at it's best.

Can anybody help contribute to this?

I can't say I'd care to be randomly shoved into a 30 minute match of any kind. The rewards would have to be ridiculously high to even consider it a good idea. Even then, what if I have time for only a match or two and end up having to play this. I'd have to DC and try again. Now I'm up against penalties. Can't see this being a good idea for a quick play game mode.

I would.

"omg respawn kills mah immersion"

More than the fact that we all die every 5 minutes in this game, with no chance to retreat from any battle, with no penalty to repair or rearm our destroyed mechs? More than the fact that we're playing team deathmatch on tiny maps where dropships from opposing teams deploy our mechs so close that the dropships are literally only a few meters away from hostile dropships when they fly away from the battlefield? More than the fact that most players play quick matches where all factions are mixed on both teams, with both Clans and Inner Sphere players uniting to stand on squares?

Please. Just let it go. Let's have a respawn game mode. If you don't want to have R&R, collisions, knockdowns, and other realistic combat sim elements, we may as well have this.

That's why it's barebones, need some ideas to give it some meat.

I was considering possibly a server list so that people could join and exit without having penalties, something similar to this:

He's actually, in favor of your idea as am I.
He's using sarcasm to take a jab at the "ZOMG-No-Respawns-ever-people"
Also he is pointing out their hypocrisy in their statements.

Like the idea that immersion in Quick Play is a hilarious facade, because you have mixed factions that hate each others guts in Clan mechs. (Kurita fighting on the same side with Davion laughable). (Liao being with Marik etc.) On a world with no people tanks, artillery, aircraft etc. With Dropships fast enough and close enough to shoot at each other.

If anything I'm part of the growing-sick-of-being-forced to-play-skirmish-people.

I'm not poo-pooing the idea in general. It sounds fun. The problem is time commitment. A server list introduces another bucket. Another bucket begets MM problems for everyone.

The "little to no cover" sounds rough. People would just spawn with LRMs and Laser vomit and kill players right out of the dropship like they do in CW when one side gets overrun. I do like the concept of a new game mode, but I would prefer that PGI fixes Conquest to make it less about chaotic running and gunning for "points."

I wish Conquest had one central cap point that needed to be held by the end of the round with small facilities that provide a variety of statistical bonuses. Maybe one of these could be an ops station to boost everyone's sensor range, another could be an ammunition dump that would slowly resupply that team's mechs for all who entered it, and another could be an artillery camp that would drop smoke randomly every minute to send in an artillery barrage against the opposing force. Ideas are limitless, and things become far more strategic about capturing locations than simply getting "points" towards a generic goal of 750. And perhaps two drop mechs could be given to each player just to make things interesting and a training ground for new players to prep for CW.

Sim all the way. Dropships isn't respawns.

Better to join two maps so the same teams just auto launches onto another map. Most likely already in the works even. But outright respawns sucks.

Not to attack you, but the people who have been advocating 'respawns' have been in favor of stylized 'respawns' such as dropships.
So unless you have been selectively reading sentences. Either way We're in an agreement that is sounds cool with dropships.

Respawns would drop in drop ships, solving the immersion issue easily.

I'm not sure all maps are big enough for this idea though.

Respawning in the same mech isn't the same as a drop deck for dropships. With a drop deck then at least repair and rearm is simulated if not in game yet.

i want a ticket based respawn gamemode with centralized symmetrical objectives

unlike CW which is still finite lives and attacker/defender

No cover? No. Way. In. Hell. !!! !!! !!!

But I guess it's absolutely perfect for a minimally viable product. Posted Image

Or a match that doesn't end and when your out a new player takes that players place using the rejoin system.

Players would queue for these on going matches.

I always hoped the rejoin system would be for disconnected or afk players to.

Respawns in previous MW games made it easier for players to understand that their mistakes cost them and their team.

Sure it happens the same way in a regular match in MWO, but you have no recourse... and you can see some of that effect in CW to an extent (it's not quite the same, but it is the way it is).

Large scale map with conquest style mode and respawns would be interesting. CW's game mode as it stands is just a really boring wave mode.

Better idea: keep the time limit at 15 minutes, at the end of that the team with most kills wins, OR, team with X amount of kills wins. Respawns in the same mech until the kill number is hit or the game times out. Use a simple logical respawn system that drops you into one of the basic spawn zones with no enemies nearby. Call it whatever you want and make it a mode that can be picked with any map. Boom, i'll be expecting royalty payments shortly.

No need for any other silly rules or limitations or frills.

Edit - Keep all the other modes, btw. Skirmish can be the "Hard mode" version of this mode.

You do realize such a rule works better for Heavier mechs? It increases the incentive to drop heavier and use smaller groups vs the larger group tonnage penalties that are currently enacted.

Respawns make the match last too long, so no thanks from me.
