Every fight changed the ownership of the planet with ~0,1%. anyone could join the battle with no limit.

Then my speculation in the latter part of my post should come into play - A wider window should be part of planetary conquest. For larger Merc Corps this would give a majority of the members to participate in acquiring new territory or defending already owned planets. For smaller Merc Corps this would give them more chances to form groups and defend/attack.

Also, this would allow for borders to change slower over a larger time frame and not swing wildly back and forth within 24 hours. Simulating a planetary campaign and not just one-off fights, as it were.

The Win/Loss ratio for winning the campaign could be adjusted as well - Some planets may be more resistant or more accepting of an attacking force depending on several factors; loyalty to their current ruling House, actual/perceived benevolence of the occupying force, perceived benevolence of the attacking force, etc.

the question is, will a newly registered player be able to lose a battle, or not? (and will this battle affect to the ownership of the system/planet?)

Watching a player (or a group), who deliberately losing a battle, is a quite frustrating. :P

Hail,

I just wanted to say that I have been highly critical recently with the seeming focus on game mechanics over user game play and I just want to publicly apologize.

It has been frustrating trying to put a team together without knowing what we're headed into... and whil we've all been pumped it has gotten us down, at times.

What you have unveiled shows me that the game play for users is being thought through and that there will be something for everyone.

So thank you. I put my faith into you all with my 120$ and purchasing a new system for a grand; and will try to keep my reservations at bay. As Mechwarrior is the only game I've ever truly played (I have so little reference when it comes to War of Tanks or War of Worldcraft)... I want to say thank you.

This sounds like a very good system. It seems as though the dev team has observed some of the pitfalls of other games and have come up with a system that may actually work!

I can't wait for this game to go live!

I think the inherent challenge in a system like this is the feeling as a player that things you do don't really matter. You know on X date Y faction will OWN that planet. It's written in the books.

Currently searching high and low for any and all information of the above. Are we in a "Reboot" or a "Re-enactment?" It does not change my faction choice, but knowing a little more of what to expect would be nice. Any and all links to Dev comments on this subject are greatly appreciated. Yes I am also searching, reviewing QnA's etc.

<edit: removed LP decay comment, found a sufficient answer in the QnA thread. Thanks guys, that assuages my concern.>

''Lone Wolf Players

As a lone wolf, the player can earn loyalty points through participation in random matches, however these LPs have no positive or negative implications. A lone wolf player does not have any ranks.''

Okay !? But what's the point to be an Lone Wolf at this point ?

LWs will be able to play whenever they want without regard to... well, anything. Just boot up the game, login, hit "Launch", and start the pewpew.

That's all some people want to do.

Those that opt not to be LWs will;
  • Choose a House (or perhaps a canon, but dev controlled Merc Corp) and reap the benefits as they rise up thru the ranks.
  • Start/join player run Merc Corps and make a name for themselves that way.

Hopefully I didnt miss someone else posting this same concern, but here it goes anyway....

So planets and the possible multiple battles to take control of territories to take a planet, still comes down to the 5 minute "Battle in a Bottle" issue. Thats all fine and dandy that everytime we log in the "big picture" of who controls what territories and planets will be ever changing, the replay-ability is going to get stale if the same 12 mechs drop into the 1 of the same handful of maps (that we all already see in our sleep as it is) vs the same 12 mechs we just destroyed in the adjacent territory battle...... I hope that this is not as deep as the game is going to get.... it needs to go deeper and more immersive,

Only as a Faction player. When we reveal more about the rewards of rank, I'm confident people will like it.

Well as long as it doesn't end up with tons of 'generals' like in STO, where everyone is Vice Admiral and the whole concept of ranks is ridiculous as hell.. it should be fine

Only Player which buy a "Founders Pack" get asap access
Normal Player which are only for registerd for Beta...well have to wait perhaps.
The Devs can choose..its not a promise at the registration, that you will be

I stumbled across a copy of an old BattleTech campaign rules set from Dragon magazine and after a quick web search found that the old copies are available for viewing; Dragon #161 and #162.

The relevant info is in the "Through the Looking Glass" articles. A lot of thought went into this and hopefully some of the writers are still around and can add their thoughts.

Wow... I will have to clear some space on my "media" Hard Drive for some old Dragon Magazine pdfs. The memories... Thanks Morashtak.

How much combat "activity" do Generals get to see?

In RL, none.

In the BT Universe even the House ruler's own sons and daughters have been known to pilot 'mechs. Leading from the front and all that. This will help with immersion as we "House" pilots (or Freelancers as I like to call them) climb the ranks and start diving into whatever the devs have in store (if anything) for us as we reach the higher ranks.
