This. The perspective is throwing off our perception of the scales.

Something to bear (heh) in mind is that Jonty pointed out the FOV in that program is a bit wonky so the mechs WILL have different-looking proportions ingame. I wouldn't judge relative sizes of the limbs and such by those screenshots.

Overall I think the Kodiak looks great, though. Obviously the full detailing isn't done yet in the preview, but I can't wait to mess around with patterns and colors when it ships.

arnt they rescaling most mechs?

I assume the atlas was one of the rescaled mechs because it was absurdly huge.

so is that being compared to the current atlas or the rescaled atlas?

Quote

The Atlas has more HP. Like 20 tons worth of HP more than the Kodiak.

Except you only have to shoot the atlas in the CT to kill it. So most of its structure quirks are meaningless except the one on the CT.

So the Atlas only gets +31 structure on the CT. In many cases, especially laser vomit, its still not able to survive an extra alphastrike. The Kodiaks way faster speed is going to keep it alive better.

I believe Russ said a while back that the Atlas is very close to the correct scale with their new system, so I wouldn't expect any major changes.

Do they have like a cubic meter set for each tonnage?

seriously? the atlas has always been one of the worst scaled mechs...

it should only be 3 times bigger than a jenner. not 4-5 times bigger.

A few months back (soon after full rescale was announced) Russ stated the HBK and AS7 as being two chassis at near-perfect scale. Since it was a while ago, I can't say 100% that it's still the case. You can always try tweeting him, he does respond sometimes.

I don't remember the explanation for their new scale system, I think it's just volumetric.

Yes, Russ pointed out the Crab is decently undersized. He tweeted on March 2nd that it's 7% too small, so that's a noticeable but not damning change.

Yep, they are adjusting mechs so that there is a standard Volume to Tonnage ratio.

Next up, we need them to standardize the % relative amount of surface area for each hitbox.

Seeing as how the Archer is currently undersized, but is one of the least tanky mechs even with its requirkening hotfix.

I believe those "elementals" are the pilot models. Notice the lack of head, where your camera goes.

The third pic looks like an Archer.

What are you basing this off?

Any kind or real metric? Or just thats how it was in TT or something? Honestly Curious.
