NSR-9J: Add 1 B per arm and 2 E in the RT for a total of 10 hardpoints. This variant needs something to make it special and having the most HPs would do that.
NSR-9FC: Add 1 E per arm and 1 E in the RT for 9 HPs. This is the big engine variant (400 engine cap easy), using ballistics and a big engine is difficult so lets make this one the more energy focused variant.
NSR-9SS: This variant has JJ but also does not have hand or lower arm actuators so I'd want this to be the ballistic focused variant. Give this variant 2 more ballistics per arm for 10 in total. I don't want to make this one too much but I'd really like to take advantage of it not having hands or LAA.
NSR-XM: This was created by FLG 01 but it has great potential for loadouts. This variant has 6 ballistics, 3 per arm and 4 energy, 1 per arm, 1 in the head, 1 in the RT. It has a big engine but I'd assume it doesn't have hands at the least to be able to really use 4 HPs per arm.

The exception I could imagine is going dual AC/20 and a number of ML or MPL, while using an STD engine. You would not need more than six though.
I would love some inflation of the ballistics on the -XM. I mean, just think about twelve MGs in the arms and your energy weapons. That would be fun!
Actually, considering it probably does not need a great inflation, I am not worried about PGI and what they may do...

The funny thing is only the 9J has gauss rifles stock. As for inflation. I think the primary purpose for it on this mech is to encourage or at least enable builds not focused on gauss. Of course the NSR would be the IS's double gauss assault and that's good but more HPs allow more builds.

It's definitely a sexy mech.
I'm wondering if it's hitboxes might make you waddle like a Stalker or Marauder. Without Alex's rendition it's hard to guess.

*Also of note is the NSR-9J doesn't seem to suffer from low-slung arms, so the Nightstar could possibly be better at dual Gauss than even the King Crab, which is even heavier, admittedly not by much. From the picture on Sarna, all the weapon mounts would be around cockpit height.

Your votes are appreciated.
The NSR would easily be a better gauss carrier. All the weapons are cockpit height in all the artwork & minis. The biggest issue it'd face is convergence, especially at shorter range.

IS needs a super heavy ballistic assault other than mauler. 3 unrestricted ballistics sounds good enough to me.
I am thinking ac20, 2 ac10 lol. Then the 2 ballistic each arm variant 4 uac5 with xl engine. Give me right now.

Right? You'd think ComStar at the least would've reverse engineered it and made a factory for such a powerful mech.

I am a bit partial to the Xaver Murr variant FLG created but perhaps a hero variant could have a torso mounted ballistic.

As someone who also works in engineering, it should scare you even more to know that key design details are often stored only in the heads of people working on the project even today. I mean, even in the real world we are having to reverse-engineer the F1 engines from the Saturn V rocket to figure out exactly why they worked as well as they did.
