Will You Support The Tournament?

E-Sports isn't something I care about and I have no interest in contributing to it. I find asking your playerbase to support your tournament prize package to be a bit questionable as a business practice. Isn't that what sponsors are for?
IMHO, it's the wrong direction for the game, and I'm a little dismayed to see PGI expending resources on it. The patch today adds some much needed development to CW, but it's still not really fun to play, doesn't appeal to the bulk of the playerbase, and the maps are awful. Infowar doesn't really exist and we've heard nothing about it since last year. I would still rank the game as a 'C' effort, and you don't make successful sport games out of mediocrity. Just like the Steam launch, I feel like they really aren't ready for what they're trying to do, and develop so slowly that they aren't likely to get there before the license runs out.
Contributing my own money to something that seems like folly doesn't seem beneficial to me or them. Your mileage may vary.
That is not a lovely Overlord dropship. Yikes.

BTW, i thought that the Overlord dropship looked bad... then i saw this:
Hmmmmm... yep, it's an egg. And it's always been.
yes an egg with thrusters, whats not cool about it
Just see mechs as little babies hatching from eggs. Nature made eggs that way ecause its a safe method. Therefore egg dropships are the perfect way to copy nature. We just need camo patterns for it

The boost alone is kind of a no brainer unless you´re alkready swimming in c-bills, the rest is icing.

EDIT: Cbill Bonus? I only read XP Bonus.
EDIT II: Ok found it but it still does not really convince me to support.

Are two very different games, with two very different demographics. As for the in-game bonuses, I have no idea about them. I don't play Dota and I don't feel like Dota-fans have any bearings on my reactions.
I do know that there's millions of kids around the world spending obscene amounts of money on Dota. That may have something to do with it.

I find the idea of giving money to other players for playing a game distasteful. I would have rather the whole $10 had gone to PGI...at least then I could pretend that they will use the money to improve the game in some way instead of pissing it away on some e-sport nonsense.
So the moral of this story is, I have no principles and can be bought off with just a 10% c-bill boost.

And getting more awareness is very important for the game in the long run if we don't want it to grind to halt without any players. We need more players, desperately. Instead of 1500 online players (Europe) at a time, I would like it to be like 15000 or something. It would help the queues and give better tiers of good and bad players etc.

Yes, it all stacks...premium + 10% tournament + 30% c-bill mech if you have one.
Edit: Here, I had a screen shot of a game at the end with all the bonus stuff...

They can afford the tournament. The 100K Prize pool is already there.
This will inflate the prize pool, bigger potential draw of more players, more players/interest means more exposure for the game, which can translate into more potential players and more revenue.
That's the goal of tournaments like these. Increase awareness, increase playerbase, increase revenue.
And not for nothing, it's 10% Cbill boost, 10% XP boost and a handful of swag items that right now costs like a $1.25 a month. (a tiny bit more)
As far as microtransactions go, that's a pretty good ratio.

At the same time I have zero interest in tournament and competitive play (for prizes) because it often brings out the worst in otherwise decent people. Oh, and an influx of pros and semi-pros which throw everything out of wack. That's just my experience though.
Still, warhorn...

In my experience in this game, competitive play has only brought out the best in decent people.
They bring their best, play their best, and have good sportsmanship.
The guys who are a-holes are already a-holes, being in a tournament doesn't suddenly change them into that.
