Yes but you can not play lego mech with the Kodiak, IMO it will be a great addition to the Clans, it should give us an Atlas like mech for up close, the Direwolf will be better IMO at range, it is still a slightly smaller target. BOTH are not something you want to walk around and meet though in a dark alley way, or really any place O.o

Also YAS all the Freebirth tears! I shall use them for coolant for my Kodiak's massive not crappy XL400 Posted Image

Yeah but you really don't HAVE to when your hardpoints are already good.

I was very happy with my Maulers' weapon placement... And this just takes the cake. I am going to love these Teddy Bears!

I will say it's probably safe to say "Lack of quirks confirmed!" though!, lol.

Whether the kodiak will be power creep or not will very much depend on if it completely obsoletes/eclipses the other assault mechs. With the ability to change engine size, no fixed components, and a good selection of hard points... I have trouble seeing how the kodiak won't simply replace the executioner and direwolf.
Well, your problem is that the Exe is a huge steaming pile of garbage, and the only reason why we haven't thrown it out is because we don't have a Urbie big enough.Because the urbie is a walking trash can, get it?

You are right, but also wrong. The issue in my eyes isn't the kodiak, its the direwolf, and other omnimechs, all of which operate under a set of build rules that present very little value to MWO, and screws over well over half of clan omnimechs. All hardpoint swapping does is make sure the good omnimechs are better, but the bad omnimechs are always going to be bad because hardpoints cant fix their bad engine sizes, low podspace or fixed equipment issues.
Yeah, the engines on the Clan assaults are generally suboptimal, and I don't like the odd balance and locked worthless crap.

I'd play it no quirks. I've been using the Hunchback IIC with 4 UAC2. It tears people apart. I'd like more opportunities for clan ballastics. :3

Oh, I totally agree. It shouldn't NEED quirks. C-XL are still a MASSIVE survival advantage no matter how much crying some people want to do, and when you combine that with hardpoint placement like that, and massive arms that should absorb most incoming fire, it really does not need quirks.

As long as it's Hitboxes are well mapped it is at a minimum a Tier 2 mech, and most likely a solid 1. Structure Quirks or such would pretty much confirm Tier 0 OP.

Really only remote questions I have are the hitbox maps and overall mobility. But I feel confident enough with what we know already to say this will almost certainly be a "good gundam".

I already bought the basic pack and the Hero, and I just bought the reinforcements, now.

I am currently thinking of the iconic GBL cinematic...

Mobility should be alright on it, considering you can slap on a XL 400.

And I agree, no quirks needed on it. If it did, it'd probably be to address an odd weakness that other clam battlemechs as of now don't have, which is unlikely.

I'm going to love SB though, no, no LRMs, but Streaks or Artemis SRMs.... :D

Oh and it's got MASC, so EXE speeds with moar firepower. Either way, "good gundam" indeed.

Ehh I could go without the Add-ons, got others to attend to anyways...

Besides, only one KDK would be deserving of Quirks...

and it's the reinforcement one with 1M hardpoint in each arm...

Well, that makes the Dire Wolf completely obsolete. And yeah, Kodiak don't need quirks with hardpoint locations like that.

But Dire Wolf will need them really hard or no one will play it in the future.

Not exactly. Kodiak doesn't get to change limbs like a Dire can.

I was actually thinking of using SB as a LRM platform... I know, LRMs are *insert terms here* but i still have fun with them, especially if they have a AC/20 or twin LPL backups.

The Dire can still mount up to 6 ballastics.

Yeah, but with MASC, to me it begs me to "use my M hardpoints for brawling!"

LRMs are okay, just make sure you're a asset to the team rather than a hinderance like most are... :)

I'm optimistic, but braced and prepared for disappointment. Either way, this is aesthetically one of my favorite Clan 'mechs ever so even if it sucks I'll still love it to pieces.

How about Quad Gauss, easily doable with plenty of ammo.

It can't have plenty of ammo, or speed.

It can mount a STD310 engine and 7 tons of ammo (with all safe slots being used, arms being stripped of armor).

So, Whale speed, with woefully inadequate ammo. Remember: 12 slots per ST means no DubGauss with an XL, per ST.

Better mounts than the Whale, but it's still a Terribad thing to try.

I hate to tell you... But I think you can fit more PPC on a Kodiak than a Dire... No locked equipment, and you can downgrade the engine to get more tonnage. One of the Kodiaks can do 11 energy hardpoints.

Edit - I lied; I love saying that!
