Its practically a 40 ton artic cheetah without ECM. If you want to run a viper loadout, you can totally do it now with the artic cheetah.

Already explained to u, that u are wrong about viper=40 ton cheeta.

But we already know that :
1) U don0t want to understand
2) U cannot understand
3) U pretend not to understand although U've seen you failed to judge.

the viper is the mech that will make the ice ferret even more useless.

EDIT:

power creep concept. dunno if i'll buy the viper as i bought the ferret. surely there will be another mech that will perform better than those. so...

well, it's not a matter of power-creep.
I mean even in lore/BT the viper is esactly like the ones we'll had.
The quirks are supposed to solve this, tho.
Anyway the Ferrit is not a bad mech at all.

Sigh! Why are some people extremely salty that something they do not have to buy is being released? <smh>

I don't get the hate for my comment. No, there's little point in releasing mechs that are ******* uselessly underpowered because 'LOL IT'S MY FAVOURITE MECH' or 'LOL IT'S BATTLETECH NOOB'. I repeat: this is an arena shooter, not an RPG.

And to those of you saying 'well I wish it was an RPG'; what makes you think I disagree with that statement? I love RPGs. I've pre-ordered the new Battletech game.

When I say that MWO is an arena shooter I'm merely wishing to illuminate the current situation. It is not ok to have **** mechs on either IS or Clan rosters. Every mech should be viable. Whether that's achieved by power quirks or role warfare makes no difference to me, but each mech should be viable in some way. (As an example, look at what happened with the Locust - **** mech, but with power quirks, incredibly good mech - well, the 1E is anyway)

And I don't mean 'the best player in the game can do 'ok' with it so it's viable', viable.

To be clear, I have no problem at all with the Viper being released: I just take issue with people saying that it's fine if it's a **** mech because 'not all mechs need to be meta'. Of course not all mechs need to be 'meta' because meta is something that is constantly shifting, but all mechs need to be viable.

Because PGI wanted to give those guys that pilot nothing but Cicadas something else that they could pilot?

I'm excited for the release of the Viper, but I'm also a Cicada pilot...

The Viper is the Clan Cicada.

It's almost like saying "What's the point of the Cicada when we have the Jenner?"

I seriously doubt the Viper will get quirks as strong as the Cicada's. If it did, then it would probably be an ok mech.

The Ice Ferret is nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

The Cicada 3M is a fairly good mech, though. I have a 1.59 k/d and 300 average damage in my 3M, which is not bad at all for such a light medium. It's a very fun mech to play, it's fast, maneuverable, has decent energy quirks including a range quirk (got nerfed a bit unfortunately but it's still good).

The CDA-2B has beast MPL/energy quirks and can be an absolute monster if you play to its strengths and avoid getting caught up in messy fights. The 2A is slightly weaker but still good as a ML spammer.

The Cicada is far from being in the same boat as, say, the Vindicator.

What if... not everything new in this game had to be there to power creep the meta and give you the latest competitive edge?

Because I've spent so much money on this game and ought to be PGI's head of development Posted Image

The viper reminds me of pinocchio for some strange reason.

What if its nose gets longer with the frequency of meta builds used.

Or maybe that's just my inner guilt asserting itself.

We don't know about it's torso/arm twist/pitch limits yet. To me that's far more important than it's quirks.
Other than that i guess we got to try it out.

That is as accurate as saying that a Timber Wolf is just a 75 ton Hellbringer without ECM.

I'm salty that I REALLY want to get it, but I REALLY don't have it budgeted.

This is first mech I've seriously considered since they changed the payment scheme.

I kinda like the new system. Makes it very easy to get the mechs you want without having to spent a lot of extra money for ones you don't

I wish they'd let you select which 3 mechs you wanted from the full selection for your base pack through. Somehow, with these mechs, they just happen to make it work that there's at least one model in the reinforcements set that you kick yourself for not buying, and would gladly trade for one of the ones you're getting.

Yep that obviously intentional.

Power creep in a game set in a fiction universe in which new technologies for warfare are developed along a timeline? Surely not.
