I think I need to take a break from MWO

The "thinking man's shooter" - how we looked down on those other twitch FPS one-shot-kill games.

Where people run around at break neck speed and turning a corner can get you killed with a couple of insta-shots. Then resurrection to a spawn point to run off and get shot again.

Thanks now to Alpha-Strike Deathball Warrior with Power creep, laser-vomit and all but the slowest fatties running at 100kph+ that is pretty much what we are playing now.
All that is missing is an in-game re-spawn timer on the Pug Q.


and no you cants have my stuff - I may well be back.

To be honest, I did just that. Even on the killing side, things die to fast for it to make sense. Once you get through the achievements besides the headshot, it becomes mind numbing. There really is no customization in the game to speak of. Unlocks are a necessity, and builds are either good or bad. Basically, the most on a team "who do this strat and build" win. With 5 or 6 good mechs, the rest are just to be had in case they get balanced into the show.

Granted I spent years enjoying it, but just seems like I spent a long time waiting for something that just isnt going to happen.

Pretty much at the same point. Only thing that was keeping me going was getting the mechs I bought and then leveling them up. Now that I am no longer buying the game is just meh.

Doesn't matter where customization could be interjected, it just needs to be interjected somewhere. Sorry but decals isn't it. "Oh look I can put the PGI symbol anywhere I want on my mech in any color". No thanks.

Go play CS:GO for a bit and get a good taste of what a real twitch shooter feels like.

I'll agree with you when the day comes I feel it's necessary to chug an energy drink and spend 30+ minutes snapshotting targets in testing grounds just to have a chance to survive in public queue.

The game should be and seemed to be originally advertised as:

33% RPG
33% FPS
33% Mech Sim

In my opinion it is closer to:

70% FPS
20% Mech Sim
10% RPG

The more time I spend on this forum, the more disenchanted I become.

Well, it's deathmatch with Battlemechs. Without the license, the game would have died long ago.

There are those of us that don't care much about the lore, yet hate 1st Person shooters. We came from the previous title in the franchise, MW4:Mercs. In that game the majority of servers on the Zone and after Mektek started hosting servers were respawn. Over the nearly 7 years of playing that game I would estimate I played 95% Respawn games by choice. I even hosted a Respawn server. In the couple of units I belonged to the majority, afaik, preferred Respawn. That is what we are used to and that is what we enjoy.

yup. It's the one mode that could deliver the balance and strategy mwo needs.

For some reason I've gone off PC games for the last couple of weeks. Thinking about playing MWO or Dragons Dogma on the weekend and instead went for a bike ride to the beach. I must be getting older..

PGI are the definition of posers. They sucked everyone in with their big promises and couldn't deliver anything but decent mech combat. Which is a good pillar to build on without screwing up EVERYTHING else along the way. They simply cannot make this game worth playing.

Next step is to cut their funding completely so they get what they deserve.

The presence of a respawn mechanic does not mean there are no repercussions for your actions. Being removed from the immediate fight has massive repercussions for your team. If there's a ticket system, it means one less respawn for everybody on your team.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

That said, the game modes have to be designed to support it.

This, took my break recently and came back for phase 3, pretty disappointed that the same **** that was a problem before is STILL not even on the RADAR for fixing. Lasers still king, all other weapons still **** in comparison. I guess i just wish that the grand i dopped on this game had actually gone to making it better.

You say this like it's an epiphany. The same could be said of virtually an IP to date. The IP is what draws most players to a title with but a small percentage drawn to the nuance of the content.
