I noticed a little bit of a flaw in the design of the new CW gametypes and system. THERE'S NO EXPLANATION OF ANYTHING ANYWHERE. In game they don't tell you anything, which is the first and most convenient location I'd put it if I were a game designer. From context, I can see that if you join a scouting match, it doesn't tell you if you're gathering or defending until the second you drop and only if you have sound on. Both sets of objectives are on the screen in the lobby! What the heck is that supposed to do for me?! That's not what invasion mode does. They tell you if you're counterattacking or attacking or defending in the objectives!

There is no explanation of how scouting or intel counts work at all both in-game or anywhere on the MWO website that I could find. Seriously, try this fun experiment for yourself. Go to mwomercs.com and click on Game then Faction Warfare. It's reeeeeeeeally helpful, you guys. Oh then click on Game Modes. It's even more helpful! What a great description of what the heck I'm supposed to be doing in that game type. I'm all set now.

Where exactly are they hiding a basic description of how CW work? How about letting me know how the new game types work, what that pie chart thingy means, what the intel counts mean, if you're even supposed to get above 9 on defensive scouting missions or if that helps the enemy, if your intel counts defensively even count, why sometimes scouting ends the second the opponent enters the drop zone and sometimes it ends at the end of the countdown and they have to stand inside the drop zone, and about 1000 other question I and everyone else has about the BASIC WAY THE NEW GAMES EVEN WORK! It's like they just released it and said good luck figuring it out and then jumped ship. WOW did they screw up this release. I was playing Fallout 4 for a bit and then came back to MWO so if there was some sort of announcement or tutorial or webpage that was temporarily posted, I certainly missed it but guess what, so did A TON of other people. Put it back or someone pleeeeease link to it.

I agree it's too vague in-game, and maybe a little too hard to find on the website, but it IS there. It was part of the patch notes when phase 3 went live.

I did assume it was in some sort of patch notes but you need to hire a private investigator to find them after they cycle out of the main news feed page thingy. Thanks!

This is one of PGI's weakpoints. Fortunately some members of the community have really stepped up.

For Faction Warfare Overall:

Current as of December 2015, but beyond the introduction of Scouting and related team bonuses it shouldn't need many other updates.

(From http://mwomercs.com/...dvanced-topics/)

For Scouting:

I glanced at this video while playing, it seemed to cover the basics and tactics pretty well:

Here's a more text-oriented guide. I haven't read it so no idea how effective it is:

yes this entire description belongs ingame, only a minority of players is active in the forums.

there needs to be at leats a link ingame linking to the rules via browser or whatever.

You're expected to read the patch notes.. but you'd think something as important as helping out newbies with CW by having this info accessible and easily consolidated would be a thing.

It could just be Lostech™.

Not true. The type of mission is indicated the during the entire one minute countdown right next to the timer.

If you are in a dropship you are scouting. If you start already on the ground you are protecting. Just how many matches do you need to figure that out?

Why, you'd almost think they're setting the new people up for failure on purpose, wouldn't you?

Allowing "beginning game" players and equipment into "end game content" with no tutorial...not even a cutscene video to watch..or any sort of in game instruction....yeah, it's PGI.
