I find I do prefer my IS mechs (Hence the Davion tag), mostly because I hate how the majority of clan weapons are easy to avoid by IS players.. Clan AC's and UAC's are garbage.... I mean whats with that trail of projectiles, is it an AC or a Machine Gun?!? Missiles... A steady Stream, but once you know its a clan mech LRM'ing you its easy to avoid their LRM's unless you're stuck out in the open. Lasers seem about the same as are Machine Guns and SRMs, but when I'm in a Clan Mech it just feels as if PGI was trying to be too creative with the clan side of things.

Now though I do love my clan mechs and am looking forward to piloting my Kodiaks next week, I'd like to see Clan AC's and LRM's function more like their IS counterparts. But then one thing I doubt many players are fond of, I'm a firm believer that in FW, Clans should be dropped into two 5-Man Stars Vs 12 IS mechs of Equal Tonnage to at least make the game a little more Lore friendly.. CLANS DON'T DROP IN LANCES PGI!!!

Ive recently started playing IS after 3 years of Clan loyalism and i have to say they seem to be quite different. wouldnt say worse or bether. I bought some king crabs and and Awesome and it seems to be ok, i have not managed to do aswell as i do in my clan mechs but thats to be expected as you need quite different tactics and the weapons are different.

IS has a bether varriety and its easier to find the right ammount of "Handicap" for your skill level to make things interresting.

Oxide's legs are only 33% more durable than that of any other 35 ton mech.

So far the idea that IS is overpowered is alien to me. I just picked up the EBJ champion from the invasion event, and it's been easier to drive than any of my other mechs, all of which are IS and most of which I've mastered. I've also done really well in the trial TBR.

I have had simlar results.

The "decent' Ebon Jaguar is one of my best heavy mech performers and the Timber Wolf always does well.

The Clans do have their stinkers too, but so does the IS for that matter (like my Vindicators lol).

Maybe it feels like the Clan has it harder because they have less total chassis to choose from vs IS. The Clan's choice for good chassis is therefore more limited than IS.

Clan mechs do need a quirk pass anyway (especially for the lesser mechs), but then again, so does some IS mechs too.

Maybe after the rescale we will see another quirk pass that is more encompassing and includes both factions.

It's just you. (that is not saying you are good or bad)

I have found very little difference between the best IS meta builds and the best Clan meta builds in regards to performance. Scrub builds are a different thing -- some of the lower tier clan mechs need the pilot to be 100% for the mech to perform.

Other than ballistics, Clan mechs are easy mode IMO. IS mechs is an XL check away from destruction.

I think its not about each side having good performers as well as bad performers.

Basically, Oxides, Black knights, warhammers, Grasshoppers, and banshees are the kings of the battlefield slaughtering any and everything (considering equal pilots).

I've been on both sides... the current IS top performers eat clan mechs alive... the power gap is so vast, its not even funny!

My IS mechs seem to be more efficient in their damage, when I look at weapon stats I can see why. The SRMs have less spread, the ballistics fire in a single slug, the laser beam durations are much shorter, quirks are thrown in to further improve those stats, I even get durability boosts on some mech variants. Ghost heat is also more forgiving allowing me to hit with alpha strikes without much worry when it would be handy to.

Basically my Atlas is walking nigh unkillable destruction, My Mauler rains death on enemies with heavy ballistics further out than a Dire Wolf and with more speed and higher mounts, My Banshee can run around with 5 large pulse lasers and cut down a third of a team with ease. All of these mechs can just cut right through enemies with ease, armor gone in a couple hits, and I end a game with 3-5 solo kills on average.

However on the Clan side I find I have to work more to poke and push and dodge and spread damage and make sure to always stay out of range of any IS mech and hope I can get my beam's full burn on a target before they can fire a shot off. If I'm going and using my Hellbringers and hitting enemies with either quad ERLLs or dual LPL dual ERML or something similar its not nearly as easy as when I am in an IS mech. Armor just falls off the thing and structure doesn't take much to finish off when going against things like IS ballistics or LPLs or even SRM bursts.

I've honestly found my triple LPL Hunchback 4p to be able to kill off Hellbringers with ease and Oxides nearby basically mean I'm a dead man if one targets me while I'm in a Hellbringer even though if I'm in an IS mech they just vaporize the moment they get in range.

I've always liked efficient killing rather than just being able to spam out damage, and that seems to be what the IS is offering now. Maybe I've signed up for the wrong side in community warfare.

What have you guys noticed when playing on both sides?


Problem is comparing IS performance in QP vs Clan performance in CW is comparing apples to oranges.

My personal viewpoint would be that Clan mechs tend to be a little more EZ mode in QP due to better XLs. Of course both sides have their EZ mode mechs for QP. Timbys/HBR/SCR/Cheeto, Black Knight/Oxide.

I have been saying it for a long time that IS mechs just feel better to pilot. They are certainly more efficient. That isn't to say some Clan mechs are not powerful because some certainly are, but in general IS mechs are just more enjoyable across the board.

The IS mechs you bought are Tier 3 mechs, or worse...

Get in a tier 1 IS mech like the GHR/BK/WHM, or for an assault, something like a BLR or BNC and compare notes.

Not really, since I played more IS mechs than clan usually when I go to clan I feel like it is easy mode for me. But that is me personally.

Running with higher tier players in group queue tonight I couldn't make any of my usual IS stable work. RFL-3N, MAD-3R, ZEU-6S, even the usually invincible 4-uAC5 KGC-000B...all toast.

Then got out the lowly Summoner Prime. A lore type build substituting the LBX for a uAC10. 91kph. Lots of jump. Scored 500 damage, 9 assists, 3 KMDD, one solo kill.

Clan tech still rolls. I like the Reseen Marauder and Rifleman better but the SMN-P is a close second.
