If this is legit, that the -1 and -5 get no quirks (I only care about twist and turn) then I'll sell both without looking back.

I don't care if they're quirked less, but they need twist and turn. Sure, drop the structure quirks, everything else, but please leave the twist and turn.

Assuming those quirks are indeed correct, I don't see the need for any of the Kodiaks to have Internal Structure quirks.
They should all have some sort of agility quirks which fall in line with their hardpoint loadouts, and a unique set for the Spirit Bear.

Anything more, and you run the risk of further marginalizing the other clan assaults.

Those structure quirks won't make a huge difference, but with that agility + large xl engines the Kodiak is going to be a very agile assault. I find it odd they gave the 2 energy-focused variants no quirks, since very few builds can really take advantage of that many energy hardpoints anyway.

Russ said this on Twitter:

Check out @russ_bullock's Tweet: https://twitter.com/...5062103040?s=09

He said it's because of hardpoint count.

I applaud their efforts to refrain from escalating the laser vomit Alpha even further by making the energy hardpoint heavy variants slightly less attractive but it does seem to be a rather odd way of doing it.

Well, energy weapons start to have diminishing returns.

No body is every going to run a build that alphas more than 8 lasers anyway, the hardpoints beyond that will likely go unused.

Even if all variants got the same quirks, the -3 and the SB are the better Kodiaks.

I setup a warhawk with 5 LPLs, 2LA, 2RA, 1CT all on seperate firing circuits backed by 22 DHS. Just don't click all the mouse buttons together and it worked fine. In 1 second I can deliver 65 damage for only 50 heat with no ammo limits. Two are enough to blow the head off any mech.

Russ said if the KDK 1 and 5 end up under performing he'll add quirks to them.

Yes and I'm sure you get head shots all the time.

Also, if you chain fire perfectly to avoid ghost heat, you can at best be staring for a total of 2.12 seconds. You might as well use DPS dakka if you are going to be staring for that long. I don't know where the 1 second comes from.

Yeah maybe I should have left out the word "Alpha". I can easily see someone running a two button build with 5 lasers on one and 4-5 lasers on the other and push them 1/2 second apart. It would probably still have less face time as most AC builds.

I am not a fan of Assaults but I did buy the Kodiak base pack. I will give them a try and if they click with me then I will get the SB. If not, I will sell them all after stripping them. I figure with all the weapons, the c-bills for selling the chassis and the early adopters bonuses, I still got a good deal whether I like them or not.

Its all a question of knowing where to aim. As to chain fire... WHY ? I can left, right, side mouse button on my own perfectly well.

Yes, and your duration will be 2.12 seconds, which is too long for laser vomit to be optimal.

Headshots don't happen very often because typically people are moving, in the game I play anyways. Most players I run in to don't seem to hold lasers on my head if I am moving.

It isn't going to be optimal though, and it will be insanely hot even if you do circumvent ghost heat.

Quirks For My Kodiaks!!!

Thank goodness.....this just made my day better. Albeit its already Friday n all....but this!Posted Image

N here I was curious if the KDKs were just gonna end up as poor bullet sponges cause there size n speed! (Well they still are for the first few weeks just like every new mech release.....people will intentionally focus them to figure out what they can n can't handle, just to pick on em while they know there not mastered, then come ***** on the forums that there OP whenever they get killed by one......same old stuff we do every mech release)

Least now my KDK-3 feels better n slightly more happy n able to have fun!

N hopefully my Spirit Bear will get to have its giggles

Let's just politely tweet Russ about this and ask him why the 1 and 5 don't get any quirks and if he'll reconsider that?

We already did. He retweeted that PGI is afraid of the Massed energy hardpoints.

Kodiak-2 is basically the Bounty Hunter II with a missile hardpoint.

This is really unfair and unbalanced! why no Quirk to -1 and 5 ??? at least keep the "Turn rate" Posted Image .
You really do anything!
we will not have time to turn against a Jenner II c !!! KDK-1 -5 FREEKILL Posted Image !!!
Completely stupid Posted Image

I hesitated between the collector and the Standard pack!
I bought the Collector's Pack for variant (S) and for $ 20 more, I got a rotten variant and very handicapped by the turn rate.thank you pgi Posted Image
Next time I will buy the Standard or even rather ..... nothing.
I am really tired of being disappointed more with this game.

Everyone is like "OMG WHY DIDN'T THEY BUFFED THE KDK 1-5!!!11" while I'm sitting here, still trying to figure out why they have quirks to begin with, but the Highlander IIC has none AND bugger all in the hardpoints department. I mean, it has LESS hardpoints than the Hunchback IIC-A for crying out loud...

(yes yes they will revise the IICs, but still)
