That said, I was not hugely impressed with the sneak peek last night.... Firepower was good, but they couldn't really take a hit. Time will tell how that translates to 12v12.
When a 100-ton mech has durability problems... SMH

Aside from how high the energy hardpoints feel.

If a clan-tech battlemech had no durability problems... it would be blatantly OP.
Sorry, no other way around it now. Clan tech is currently balanced around limitations of omnimechs and mediocre hardpoint placement of those few omnis with nice locked equipment. Take those limits from the equation, you got a recipe for OPness. To prevent such OPness with current balance, you can only go for glass cannons or lack of hardpoints. PGI likes the former, lack of hardpoints would show weak spots of the chassis BEFORE realese, and we can't have that, can we?

2 LPL
3 erML
1 UAC20 3tons ammo
24 DHS
400XL
Runs super hot even on frozen city
Took down an AS7 and helped take down 2 other KDKs
Will post a screenshot later
Very happy with this mech, can't use it in FW/CW but I'm a solo queue junky so its fine
I think I have a new favorite clan mech 64KPH is a HUGE difference from 48KPH (preTweak)
Can't carry the same loadout that the giga-Spike DWF can but I can has the endo steel and a 350 - 400 XL so it kind of makes up for the lack of dual gauss

Mech has excellent mobility, was able to stay on target and killed two ACHs
So torso turn is excellent
it is on the soft side in the center
I picked the Dual Dakka version on this first drop and loaded the single Radar Dep (i got with the pack)
I also installed LBX20 cool down and range modules
1st drop 4 kills

Which engine? I'm thinking of downgrading for some extra room. If it handles well with, say a 375 that would be fantastic.

You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.

Kodiak has incredible firepower, but is pretty squishy. Don't lead charges, you'll get ripped apart faster than an Ebon Jag. The KDK-3 w/ dual UAC 10s and 5s is very good, but doesn't play as much like a Mauler as I expected. Every IS assault I've played is tankier than this thing...but the firepower is insane. Reminds me very much of the ON1-IIC, except the Kodiak actually has good mounts and better hardpoints all around.
First 2 matches were ~300 dmg each. 3rd and 4th were both ~1000 dmg games. Once you get the hang of it and don't try to play like a more durable assault this thing can really bring the pain.
It does seem to have a huge ct, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire front diamond area is ct.

not as nice as yours (Polar and a "kill securing" KGC wingman didn't help, lol) but not unhappy for a first drop in a class of mechs I usually avoid like the plague......
