Playing Overwatch has made me realize how stupidly easy we have it when it comes to hitting targets. I can core out targets and break kneecaps reasonably well in MWO, but I can't hit a goddamn thing in Overwatch. I think years of shooting at big, easy targets has dulled my shooting skills. Even slow Heroes are harder to hit than our fastest light mechs. It's maddening. I find I have to resort to melee, grenade spam, or support characters because I'm an absolute liability with anything that requires any kind of twitch shooting skills.

Anyone else having this issue? Or am I just getting old?

That might be just you mate, im playing CS just fine, headshotting left and right. Though i should admit i've been playing shooters for almost 20 years. My god, im getting old XD

I play other shooters besides MWO. I have no problem with it.

I did during the training thing in Overwatch, after that it all came right back. But I played twitchy shooters with much intensity for over a decade. So it was like riding a bike.

Here's a tip that helps me transition: mouse sensitivity. Knock your mouse sensitivity down a lot. In twitchy shooters, you have the tendency to over adjust since your muscle memory is used to a lower sensitivity setting. After a few games you'll have it cranked back up.

MWO is something I regularly come back to. I will play for a time, and then drop the game for months until I get the urge to play again. It is the only shooter game I really enjoy. I dont know exactly when I lost interest in the shooter genre, but twitch has not been consistently my thing. When I do get the urge to twitch, I play my locust, but after 3 missions, I want to vomit.

Using lasers and playing Warframe with it's hitscan has killed my ability to lead targets and hit long range on the move, but I still shoot pretty well. Playing Warface now, pretty much destroying the poor AI.

Only thing I've noticed is that I now hit R every time I see someone in other FPS games. This leads to me dying due to reloading a lot.

Planetside was way worse. I used to play the hell out of the first one, and I remember one time while driving home from work nearly swerving off the road because I thought an oncoming garbage truck was an enemy Sunderer. Not even joking. I took a break after that.

Lol! I know that feeling exactly (not with Planetside). Was playing a lot of Call of Duty MW back in the day and it was one of those days at work where you're kind of dozing off.

Coulda swore I heard that "clink, clink, clink" sound of a grenade rolling into my room at work and woke the hell up right away haha. Felt so real for a second...

I had something like this happen to me one time, except it was back when I used to obsessively play World of Warcraft. I remember one time I was having a hard time with a quest that involved killing a lot of Crocolisks. One day I was driving in my car and my brain was just kinda doing its autopilot thing when suddenly I just about slammed on my brakes because I thought I saw a crocolisk on the side of the road and I needed to go kill it. Then I remembered that this was RL, not WoW. Was one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to me.

I don't really have these issues in other games. I still tear butt up in most of the other shooters I play that aren't pay-to-win.

I've played a lot of twitchy shooters in my time as well. MoH:AA, UT2k3, UT2k4, CS:Source, TF2, most of the PC Battlefield games, Titanfall, etc. It's just for the past year or so I've been only playing MWO and non-shooter games, so I think my twitch skills aiming skills diminished during that time. It's coming back as I play more Overwatch though.

Holy hell is Overwatch a great game.

I've been keeping my mouse sensitivity in the 300-500 DPI range for a long time now.
