Pressed "Patch". Nothing happens...no network traffic.

Ok, to help narrow down the problems at least a little, I'll describe in general terms the process that the portal will go through from first install to actually launching the game, so when you're posting about an issue we can identify which step is failing on you. I've grouped some items since by default they will automatically move on to the next step without you having to click anything in the portal.

1) Install MWO Portal
2) Launch MWO Portal
3) Install Tournament build
3a) After the installer runs, a license agreement pops up (if you've already installed the game and restarted the portal, then this will happen when you hit the Patch button).
3b) After agreeing, the "ZTN" (install base) will download and patch (if you installed to the default location, you will probably get the UAC prompt asking you if it's ok to run PatchBot.exe, which is the newly externalized patcher).
3c) Waiting for the patch to complete...
4) Click play, which launches the game and closes the portal
5) Log into the Tournament game client and play

It's possible in some cases that the license agreement window may show up behind other windows, but it's rather large and hard to miss, so I doubt that's the problem.

If you want to never get the UAC prompt just top patch the game, install it to a non-protected directory. Windows protects the Programs Files directory (directories on x64), which is why we always asks for permission to modify files in there.

Does the portal show any progress at all? Does it stall out, forcing you to terminate the program?

When I press Patch, the button gets grey but I cannot observe any progress or network traffic.

Also, one last note - the patcher logs are now being saved to the saved games directory. By default, that's going to be C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\MWO Tournament. In there (assuming the patcher has run at least once) you'll find a Patcher directory, and in there there's a PatcherLogs directory. That's where you'll find the latest log (and older logs are in the "backups" folder).

Ok, so the problem is somewhere in the area of prompting for the license agreement. I'll comb through that code and see what's what.

Thanks.

The invocation of the constructor on type 'MWO_Portal.View.Model.PortalViewModel' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception.

That is the error I receive when I try to launch MWO Portal.exe

Is there anything else indicated? Sometimes this message shows followed by the actual exception that was thrown, which would be very useful to know. If that's all that's shown, then I'll just work with that.

In my case the log looks as follows:

27.05.2016 21:27:09 - Config file: C:\Users\Markus\Saved Games\MWO Tournament\\Patcher\patcher.cfg
27.05.2016 21:27:09 - Version could not be determined (likely due to a non-existent version dll). Assuming version 0.
27.05.2016 21:27:09 - Local frontend version: 0
27.05.2016 21:27:09 - Initializing Downloader
27.05.2016 21:27:09 - Downloader initialized
27.05.2016 21:27:09 - startPatchProcess()

If you open the task manager, do you see PatchBot.exe listed? When it starts up, it waits for a handshake with the portal. If that fails, it just sits there waiting, and the logs end up looking just like what you posted (although another possibility would be a crash in that area of code, but either way it's presence or absence in the task manager should tell me where to look next).

There are no other messages before or after that one. Not for ten minutes at least. Also the MWOPortal.exe stays active after the error screen is dispelled by pressing ok, but it uses almost no computer or network resources. Does obviously prevent another MWOPortal.exe from being opened.

Just so I know all of the factors involved, those of you still having issues, would you mind letting me know if you're running Windows in a language other than English?

Also, just to play Roy here for a bit, I'll just ask, "have you tried turning it off and on again?"

The Patchbot.exe is listed in the task manager but has no activity (I am running win 10. 64bit, German version), and a reboot does not solve the issue.

Thanks, that's some good info. I'm about to release an update that I hope will address the problem. If not, then at least I'll be able to figure out where the problem resides.

As always, thank you very much for your help and patience.

I can confirm this.
