"This is my Hunchback. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My Hunchback is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me, my Hunchback is useless. Without my Hunchback, I am useless. I must fire my Kaliyama true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...
My Hunchback and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...
My Hunchback is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my Hunchback clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before Kerensky, I swear this creed. My Hunchback and I are the defenders of my people. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until victory is the Commonwealth's and there is no enemy, but peace!"

Some of you will get the idea. Some won't. But for most of us there is simply that one mech that we always return to. Just as a soldier in war forms an almost superstitious bond with his rifle. You don't just grab ANY rifle when the bullets start flying, but yours. Because you know yours liek the back of your hand. You know you can depend on it, no matter what. What others might perceive as flaws in your rifle, you know are marks of it's character.

So it should be with mechs. Despite the trends, the Metas, if you had to stop and choose just one mech to use exclusively from now on in MWO, what would it be? Think carefully. Metas change, and are fickle, like a vain gold digger. What you depend on today to dominate might well betaken away in the next capricious pass. A good mech is one you know you can rely on, regardless the Meta. It may never be sexy, but it also never let's you down.

What's that mech, for you?

Stats since last reset, 100% PUG play.
This is my Hunchback. Others tell me it needs less ammo. Needs a bigger engine. But this is MY Hunchback. And chances are high that it has killed you. Because this is my Hunchback.

So again, when the chips are down, the Meta uncertain, what is YOUR Mech?

For me, it is also the Hunchback, specifically my 4G, "Ravager."

I even made a video for it!

People say it shouldn't work. Armed with those guns? On that mech?! Chances are, however, if you've seen it, it either killed you or did quite a bit of damage to you. Forever underestimated by its enemies. Almost always an injection of joy for me. My decompression/anger management mech: The Gatler.

I don't have "the one mech". I have many mechs I turn to when things go south. Jager-DD, Battlemaster 3S/1G, Banshee-3M, Archer-5W, Blackjacks, Timberwolves, Hellbringers, and Ebon Jaguars. All of them will stand the test of time, and all of them will suit my needs, one way or another. Gonna be getting HBK-IICs soon, as I think they will stay as staple mechs, as well.

Mine would probably be a toss up between my Thunderbolt-5SS and the Grasshopper-5P. I know everyone says the 9SE is the best thunderbolt now but I seem to get much better mileage out of my 5SS, my "Demon Badger".

I wish I could pick one, but there have been many over the years. Usually not meta constrained, mind you, but mechs that I've deeply loved.

Flame (My first love, I'll never forget you)
Heavy Metal (probably my best performing mech ever, because I was a damned good poptarts with it)
Yen Lo Wang (The mech that taught me what my Flame should have made obvious: I love medium!)
Direwolf (My Siegebreaker brought so much joy with its 122pt alpha strikes)
Mad Dog (My lurmy maddog is my most successful mech to date)

Will a Kodiak step in? If so, Spirit Bear or KDK4. Oh, the 3 is better, it's awesome, but it's so one dimensional. I don't know if I like the 4 or SB better, though, just don't know.

And of course, through, I've had passionate affairs with many mechs, but the above, theyre the ones I'd always go back to if the chips where down.

Special mentions to: Urbie, the only light I ever loved; HBK 4G/P/J, HBK-IIC, Orion IIC-C, CPLT-K2, JM6, WHK, BNC-3E, STK-Misery.

Double Barrel Slugs

This is my Kit Fox. There are many like it, but they all lack the same bite. There is a certain joy to be found in tearing apart other lights at 900m with well-placed double ERPPC bolts. Sure, it runs hot as heck, but if i'm caught out I'm dead anyway. Might as well bring the most damaging PPFLD loadout I can put on this thing.

THIS is my Kingcrab. Enought ammo for longrange engagements or brawls, people tell me to just take the 4x5uac dakka crab or less alpha and a standart engine or more heatsinks. It may run pretty hot and theres no artemis opn the srms.
But this is mine. The last game I onehit 2 kodiks and brawld down an atlas within 20 seconds, the game beforrehand I anahilated a lone ebj, and then oneshot the 2 lights commin to help him + finished of anotherone with a gauss round to the back.
This Kingcrab is something you do not want to turn your back to or stand still infront within the 726m optimal range of my gauss.

But enought talking, here is the Picture.

Mine would most defiantly have to be my Summoner prime with its old schooling Gauss, ERPPC, ERmed. For as meh of a mech it is i find it to be the most comforting mechs. With its maneuverability It does what i want it to do every time and get me out of trouble just as quick.

with the bad hitreg on the ppc#s? never, otherwhise i'd replace my lasers and the srms with just 4 ppcs, (yes ill keep the gaus, because headshots are so damn satisfying.) However if your going for total brawl you might change the srms for srm4 artemis and the gauss for 2x ac 20 which ends up redlining after 2x120 damage alphas and does not provide the range my current build has. Ive tried to go with 3x lpl and less srms but the increase in heat isn't worth it.

If you had to make me Pick....
I would probably honestly tell you, my Fang.
Sure it's lightly armed just 2 LPL and 1 AC10.
Sure it's easily popped with a big CT and not so generous STs (Thanks Paul you @$$ for the geometry change that no one asked for!)

But the Fang, forces me to play better. It forces me to consider every single moment on the battlefield, and my position on it, the position of my enemies and forces me to target vulnerable locations.

The Fang, makes me a better pilot. And when I'm in it, unless I do a dumb, I can deal a tremendous amount of pain to my enemy, through superior shot placement, positioning, and being still quick enough to fade away before a full response can be brought against me.

If you made me pick the one mech, that regardless of the era of meta, that I have performed the best in, and will most rapidly jump into exclusively, it'll be my Fang.

Impossible! Ever since they found that jelly doughnut in my foot locker I've been practically deathproof! Only Sader can kill me now because he knows so much more than everyone!

PS... only movie where a Scottish guy plays a Spanish guy and a French dude plays a Scot ;)

Mogheidien...my Mist Lynx. 3 medium lasers, 2 srms-4s. It's a sniper, a brawler, a jack of all trades and great fun to dash around in. Mocked and maligned, but it's my fave mech.
