She is very busy with the Tournament lately, from what it looks like. Her stream schedule is even off schedule cause of it.

The Community Manager. Who's one and only job is LITERALLY to COMMUNICATE WITH US is off in the Tournament doing... what, exactly? And did they leave NOBODY for us to talk to? Small team or not that is very poor personnel allocation.

Remember, we don't matter and don't have a clue anyhow, so why do they need channels of communication with us?

To be fair to Russ, he was both partially inebriated and partially stupid to have made those comments. I don't think I just did a very good job of defending the man. Posted Image

There isn't much to talk to us about. They won't implement features to make the game better. If there isn't instant money earned back from a dev feature, the odds of it happening are VERY slim. Mechs. That's what we get. Maps, because they have to.

They know what they are doing on their own. Phase 3 is humming along like a well oiled machine

Not much? Lol

Does the community want mech packs & drop chests over better hit detection & alpha-strike nerfs? They took votes on what mechs to rescale & champ builds, and guess what - it worked better than any of their other ideas. Any time I hear "rescaling" or "I'm a n00b w/o any mechs", I heard nothing but excitement about the Cat & Nova rescale & people saying most trial builds are decent now.

Lets look at it from a different perspective. Lets say you're going out on the third date with a girl (or guy), and you grab the proverbial wheel and say "this is what we're gonna do, this is how it's gonna be, no have no say in it - forever". How do you suppose they'd react? Smile & say "a-okay", be outraged, or run away??

I guess I just figured they had a lot of work to do which was why they just dumped a 3 month command chair.

When I canceled my Kodiak preorder, they asked me why. Among my reasons were two things Russ had said on Twitter and in the Town Hall. Not to overestimate my importance, but since all we can do is speculate I thought I'd throw it out there. Maybe I wasn't the only one, and he decided silence is better than giving us any more specific reasons to get mad.

The things I cited were:

1) The "it is what it is" about removing the solo queue from FW. Things he could have done and still could do have been discussed at length. It totally smashed any hope I had that he was on our side and FW match quality would ever improve. It's dead to me.

2) He said PvE co-op was going to be "standalone." I've asked him to elaborate on Twitter and been ignored. He refused to even say whether we'll be able to use already purchased mechs in the mode. So I told them I'm not buying any more mechs until I know their value going forward.

So if him talking undermines our confidence in the game, it makes sense for him to shut up and just let us find out about the BS after we've spent more money.

He could try not saying things that suck, but I doubt it occurred to him that these things do, in fact suck. That's it's not just a "damned if you do, damned if you don't, everyone finds fault with something" thing.

Now that you mention "stand-alone", I'm reminded of the Battletech kickstarter. It's near the top of all campaigns for speed of funding. Now think of MWO. There's plenty of willing customers, but SOMETHING has turned them away. I'll give everyone 3 guesses what it is, 2 of which won't count...

Tell a person who's still unsure if they want to continue the relationship that you're now their master. Tell them "it is what it is", that they should enjoy what you offer, and that YOU ALONE will decide if you have any character flaws that require fixing.

ah, got ya. Something got lost in translation/punctuation.

Yes, he was mildly over assertive.

I completely understand it, actually. It's a very poor analogy. Carry on, Bishop and have a good day!

Cynical mind at work.....

Servers cost money. Gamers using servers to play game cost money. CW games vs quick play games, who uses servers longer? Ok create game mode that drives off those pesky CW players or force them into quick play. More quick players who will see more shiny mechs. Quick player want shiny mech other is driving will buy said mech. Yeaaaaa mech sales good.

Sorry but PGI's attitude of turtle up and ignore the base is reaping the awards. Anyone recall a town hall where it was followed by something other than buy our crap?

PGI has not reached the EA stage but they dropping fast

Then they should give him a script which is drafted to at the very least blow sunshine up our... es
or
Better yet actually tell us what is being worked on and why. Give the justification for why P3 is "it" and only needs incremental changes. Actually explain the rationale for the rewards structure in CW. Discuss what his and PGI's vision for the future is beyond "E-sports!!!!!".
or
Still better yet: tell me why your product absolutely rocks and believe it. If you can't manage that as the president of the company you are well and truly f...something.

I swear I get a better sales pitch and more information from the TOC of this game then I have ever gotten from a town hall (but here is a new mech!) and there are no direct or implied insults in that document either so it is already doing a bang up job!

Geezus, this is not hard stuff. It was all explained to me in my first retail job back when I was in high school.

if you think about it, "fortress piranha" has sort of been half going on ever since the co-founder essentially disappeared from the internet

im not even sure what he does but ill go on a limb and just assume he still works on mwo alongside other pgi side projects

No. That's just opening up things to cults of personalities and agendas. It might extend things for a select few for a time (could just see the Mt Tryhard Council) but i'd rather the whole thing just die rather than stagger on as some undead abomination.

Scout Derek I think is underestimating PGIs culpability in their own PR problems... but he's not wrong in that we the community are a fractious bunch of whiny SoBs, too.

You hit it here. Everyone wants a democracy so that their "voice can be heard" but PGI can hear because everyone else is screaming what they want heard. So they offered a Council.... IE a Representative Republic, but like politics, people can't figure out who to elect. "If XXXX is elected, then I'm gone. But if YYYY is elected he's gone too." (Sound like what's playing out in the US right now?)

Simple solution would be to have in-game polls. Ask simple questions with 3-4 answers and let the player base vote on direction. If there is a clear cut winner, then that's the direction it should go. If it's a close call, then a decision is needed to go with A or B or hold the status quo for the time being. Everyone's voice gets heard in a way that allows PGI to hear it and eliminates the comments.

Would everyone be happy? Of course not, but at least it would provide a general direction.

Example:
What major feature would you prefer PGI focus on for the next 3 months?
A) Continue focus on CW
B) Solaris VII game mode
C) Mech Rescales

Run it for a week or two, the change the question.

But at this point, I have my doubts that PGI can run an actual business.

It's like they are building a motorcycle for us and they decide that, come hell or high water, they are going to put cup holders on the thing even if we don't ask for them.
