We all want something like Solaris, but it would be silly to move onto something else without Faction being given a lot of attention.
No we don't all want something like Solaris.
We wanted, what was announced at the launch, a balanced game, where taking a planet means something worthwhile, with logistic's
The end result, was a game with doors, usually in a box canyon, logistic's became insane levels of cost, to add a new memeber to a unit, and MC that will work out to something like one per week per member of a unit assuming you have multiple planets and a unit size of around 100, active players.

Professor Farnsworth voice: "Good news people, PGI is no longer proving they have no clue."

Seriously though, game is on life support now.
We're probably 1 failed mech pack away from server shutdown.
Phase 3 "What's the matter??!?!We gave you what you want!" doomed the game.

So, MWO will still make money, for some time, as long as new mechs are added, because each 3025 mech they release before BT comes out will be licenced to use there. Why do you think PGI is "scraping the barrel" of current timeline mechs?

i went to a checkers recently, hadent been there in a month, ordered a big chicken,
got a large pady on a normal bun, i asked wheres the amazing sourdough bun?
they said- sorry sir but thats no longer served or available like that,
i asked if they could make me one like the original they said sure for a 1$ up charge,
some times things change, its not what we expected it to be,
but it can be good even if its different than our vision,
the Big Chicken was still amazing,
To be analogous to PGI and their modus operandi (of late) would be for you to have asked for them to make you the original sandwich, and then in response, the waiter just stood there in silence for an uncomfortably long time. Then abruptly, the waiter turns away and then returns a good while later with something totally different than what you ordered or asked for. And if you then complained or said, "no, no, I wanted the original sandwich, the one you promised in your advertisements" the waiter would then bring out the president of the entire restaurant chain who proceeds to tell you that "you know nothing of how we make sandwiches. These are our sandwiches and it is not for you to question how they are made or what they should taste like. In fact you are lucky we let you even in here and you should just say thank you for the privilege of being allowed to buy any sandwich at all, because without us you would starve."
Change is fine. Companies can have all sort of "visions" even conflicting ones. Companies that thrive and succeed find a way to evolve and achieve their various visions without insulting their customers either by ignoring them or telling them to stfu. Apparently PGI is seeking to break out of that formula with their "vision".

Last dev log was just about coming up on being 1 year old (June 29th will be its birthday).
Last post by Russ May 12th 2016 on supply cache clarification, a feature not even in the game and no where in sight.
Last Town Hall was in April.
Last biggest patch was CW 3 in April (failure).
Last patch overall was in May (just another mech added to the game so nothing really new to see).
Outside of that the only communication PGI has had with the community is twitch; and that is just for us to watch devs get slaughtered playing MWO, watch devs paint some nice looking mechs, and for their "World Championship".
Is no news good news? Not really because the more silence had the more people are thinking PGI is closing shop.

I really liked them a lot. You could listen to all the prophets raising hellfire and laugh about their predictions failing time after time. All that fuss in the forums, all these nice theories, all these marvellous ideas how one prophet could change the game if he would just get total control...
But now they really get boring. Seems the prophets suffer the same lack of imagination as the Defs

Once upon a time there was a little game called Mechwarrior Tactics. It shared a publisher with PGI. It was a fun little game still in closed beta. It had it's issues but showed a lot of promise. As time went by development slowed, Dev forum interaction got quieter and quieter. Eventually a Dev was never to be seen or heard from. A little tournament was run, organised by the players (peasants). The devs even chipped in with some prize packs. Hope was renewed, stuff is happening, the peasants were pleased.
Then one day the peasants tried to log in, but the servers were dead, turned of at the source. No communication, just silence. And yet just the day before you could still by a founders pack for $99.95. The peasants rallied as best they could but with no common line of communication they couldn't organize, the sharpened pitch forks were wasted. The devs were long gone.
The peasants had nothing!
Now I am not saying this is happening here. But a precedent has been set in the industry and around this franchise. I find a lack of communication good or bad to be very worrisome.

Afaik there are still Dev-Drops so everybody who might be concerned may drop with them.
OK, if support could be measured there is some heavy delay. Not even similar to the steam release but even worse.
Still waiting for an answer, regarding the Gift Shop.

They don't own the IP, so they can't sell it to anyone else. Microsoft owns the IP. PGI has licensed the rights from Microsoft to build a Mechwarrior game. Should PGI no longer wish to build a Mechwarrior game, they'd lose the licensing and it would be up to Microsoft to then either build a Mechwarrior game themselves, or license the property to another interested studio.
However, since no studio before PGI or since has been interested in making a Mechwarrior game (legally), if you want to play Mechwarrior, PGI is the one you're going to have to look to. Because PGI is the only one out there that WANTS to make a Mechwarrior game. Realistically, your Mechwarrior options are whatever PGI makes... or nothing at all.
You know... for what it's worth.
You're correct. So, in this case, I hope they slip their contract under Microsoft's front door with the word 'VOID' and the phrase 'We're REALLY sorry we f*cked this up' on it.
