Shouldn't be any quirk changes with the tournament going on, it will change the dynamics. At least give everyone a week break so they can figure out new strategies.

if you can't adjust your thinking on the fly, or even in an hour... this isn't the game for you.

3. Mech rescale - really OK. With few minor exceptions - new Catapult - waaaay too small now. For me it always was a rather big mech, now it looks.. funny. Good it got quirks revised,

Was just discussing this with someone who had the same opinion.
Then I pointed something out that the rescale fails to mention.

Compare the Catapult rescale... with the Butter Bee.

Note that the Butter Bee's stock weapons are SRM-6s.

Note that it has an LRM-20 and LRM-15 in each arm.

Note the arm size compare to the mech rescale.
Note the arm size and shape compared with a Catapult C4 in MWO's current version.

Now... awaken with the realization that the Catapult "Grows". Those large arms increase in size... With LRM-15s and LRM-20s... they are almost twice as tall.

Now imagine with 3 missile launchers per arm?

Will 6 SRM-6 be 3 stripes of 5 and a stripe of 3 per arm? Or will it be something ginormous?

Time will tell.

In the mean time, I bring forth...
The Roflpult.

Lets see how tall I can make the Catapult.

I still think MWO is over once they release the Kraken. 14 Ballistic hardpoints..... Live by the Daka.... I don't care if it does no damage and moves slower than a legged Urbanmech, It will spray rapid fire in all directions. Ahh..Haaaa Haaa......

Other than that, I honestly thought the quirk reduction was going to be worse than it was. Resize doesn't bother me much, because I'm either missing clean because I'm not leading right or I hit. A 5% height increase isn't going to radically improve my hit rate.

The Catapult rescale seems even more excessive considering a number of other mechs increased in size, meaning the Catapult is already relatively less of an outlier without being shrunk. Even if by PGI's volume metric the Catapult should be that small, I would have prefered armor/structure quirks to compensate.

I didn't listen to the town hall, but I saw notes saying the missile boxes wouldn't change size. That said, I count 35 tubes per box -- the A1 can mount 3xLRM 15. I'd like to see how that works.

If this is the case, then either they have unique boxes per mech...

Or either the Butterbee with its tall boxes... or the Catapult C1 with its short boxes... is a lie.

They originally had unique boxes per variant and I'd like to go that route if the boxes do not change in scale with different weapons.

I'm not going anywhere, I like this one. I'm also not gonna whinefest over nerf/buffs of mechs. I will simply alter my play/tactics/builds.

Thats cool, I am will agree to disagree with you

I know it never be truly 100% balanced between IS and clams, but i want it to be close because its no fun being always at a disadvantage and honestly it would feel cheesy always having the edge. This is what they had when wave one dropped. Now i can't remember if the first quirk pass hit before or after cw1 dropped but the fact that the clan mechs were geared for lore (thus superior) but none of the honor code/bidding mechanism/ 2 stars vs 3 lance mechanics existed/could be enforced it would be a slaughter unless the clam pilots were worse than the IS pilots. My hope is that if all pilots are of comparable skill and all are communicating, the games would by and large be competetive.

Tldr;
There was a reason for quirks, but no need for overkill. Balance better than imbalance of power.

The tournament games are being played on the tournament build of the game client, not the same one being used by the general gaming population. The championships aren't being affected by the quirks introduced in the next few months' patches.

Regarding the Catapult, it definitely needed the change. The 65-er was almost as big as a Stalker (by volume). The stats will show us which mechs are truly viable, with so many things changing we'll see a bit of a shakeup in the meta. And again when the "reactor load" mechanic replaces ghost heat. Don't get too attached to the current meta until all the changes are in, then the fine tuning can continue.

Whenever someone starts spouting things like "entitlement" and "life isn't fair" in reference to a video game of all things, I do have to wonder.

Thing is, most normal human beings want to play a computer game in their off hours from work/school/whatever that is enjoyable. If they get dumped on because they picked the wrong robot, that's not really a good experience. Unlike you, they probably have better things to do with that time.

Are the Quick Play leaderboards going to be retroactive from when a pilot started? Or is the data just going to start gathering as of the date of the patch? Anyone know? Thoughts? Also, anyone know where it will be located? I looked around and can't find it, but I'm not very bright so I might have missed it. Or maybe they're not anywhere to be found because the page isn't live yet. Again, not very bright. Lol...

My guess they will be point forward tomorrow so that anyone so inclined to "climb" it will be on even footing with others...

I'm not a fan of the quirks we have in the game either, but we DO have them right now, so I feel they should help give mechs personality and character. Atlas being the nigh undestroyable walking fortress is in the lore, so nerfing it's durability just never serves any purpose in MY opinion.

Guys, the resize wasn't based AT ALL off mech balance, it was to standardize a mech's volume, so that it's one less variable to consider for balancing. Now it'll be easier to reevaluate what a mech's armor and structure quirks should be.

Except they didn't consider it for balancing, because they changed the mech sizes without waiting to see how that would play out and nerfed many IS mechs along with the size change.

C'mon... the nerfs by and large are not *that* bad...

I mean sure they nerfed the energy range on on a few mechs from a 10% increase to 15%....

...oh wait...

the tournament is set in concrete when it comes to the build, so patches wont change anything no scaling no mech weal or quirks changes.
