The stance change was fantastic enough, then I looked closer and noticed that the upper legs have been remodeled to be sleeker and more like the original BT design. Do want.

So many kudos for the art team for doing the changes here.

As a bonus, It also looks like the Mad dog has its "long barrel lasers" like in the source material.

Notice how the tubes extend to the nose of the mech now.

Indeed... even Bishop was satisfied with the changes - and he was one of the loudest campaigners for them.

My two favorite Mechs. Granted one of my best friends grew up addicted to the books and can name every single one in IS or Clan pseudonyms. I've learned to like the Puma too, and happy to see the Jenner from Mech game 4 and 2 respectively.

Anyone want to clue me in why are there no tanks, soldiers, or Elementals in this one though?

I support this thread 100% finally able to close one of my longest running threads. Thank you PGI!

Add that Invasion HBR set of arms (with some slimming down) and it will be complete:

Nobody would actually want to buy and play as the unit that blows up if a battlemech even glances its way?

And also we currently don't have AI so those things could be used as NPC vehicles.

I hate it. So clearly, TBR needed to lose some weight, and the from the front the hitboxes are quite large, especially with the missile pods. So we lose volume in the legs. :s

Since September 2014, officially. And sure, it's not the TT Vulture..but a lot of those features would be bad for MWO play. A little skinnier STs would be the only thing left on my wish list, but I am happy.

As am I... interesting that a few small changes can completely turn around a model like that. As you say, we TT vets could nitpick these mechs all day, but very rarely does one ever come back into focus and we can say, "yes, this is what it should look like."

Yes. Literally every single nitpick I sent to Russ, aside from the ST addressed. 3 out of 4 ain't bad. And the ST was the one that bothered me least (though probably has the most gameplay impact...but then since it was meant to stay at range, mostly, I like that little bit of fragility, same as I do on my RFLs... suits their character.)

I was genuinely surprised that the legs got slimmed down on both the MDD and the TBR. There was a hint that PGI would be squatting the legs, as this is something Russ talked about in his Twitter feed, but there was nothing to indicate model improvements on either mech, as both were thought to be pretty close to their ideal volume. And for the MDD, not only the leg changes, but the much-needed laser barrels too? Not exactly Christmas, as the MDD was never a favorite of mine... but these small changes are enough to justify me finally buying the mechs.

Out of the Invasion Heavies, the MDD was always my second favorite, behind the Summoner. Never had the same fascination with MiffedKitties most have. Out of the first 12, I'd rank em:

Summoner
Nova
Mad Dog
Timber Wolf
Warhawk
Gladiator
Mist Lynx
Adder
Kit Fox
Storm Crow
Executioner
Dire Wolf
Ice Ferret
Fire Moth
Viper

in that order. So seeing the MDD get some love is pretty huge. Nova too. My poor Summoner? Not so much still.

Why is a 60 tonner practically as big as a 75 tonner?

because they aren't?

Similar height or even "total width" isn't remotely the same as being the "same size". TBR is much bulkier in the torsos, especially with the missile pods, its calves are fatter, etc. Though I would note the MDD appears to be showing the old legs, in the new pose since they slimmed the thighs down like they did to the Mad Cat.

Very frustrating that folks are still equating "height" with "size."

That is why you should be pushing for something like ammo quirk (or new variants) on the summoner.

I loathe Quirks, in general, especially as bandaid fixes, which magic space ammo feels like to me. Limited ones for heat gen, slight RoF, or toughness, I can deal with, especially for flavor sake. New Pods will only make certain builds viable, which is meh to me. And sadly, the one thing that would actually fix it, also breaks lore, but allowing Omnis to swap armor/structure.

3.5 tons would fix all that ails my SMN.

Ah well.
