The new minimap is just terrible. This needs to be fixed!

Not that I have tried it yet, but I feel like it completely destroys any usefulness seismic sensor had...

This change to the minimap is great, except it would be way better in conjunction with the old minimap. Both have clear advantages. Please do it more like Mechwarrior Living Legends. By having both at the same time it makes things so much better. Also, square is a fine shape for viewing the whole map (MWLL could have been better if it had a square for the more zoomed out map) but a circle is much better for the central radar.

Edit:
The top left radar is the one for the whole battlefield and it does not rotate.
The bottom center radar is the one for just things that are close by and it rotates with your view and shows your facing.

This game is broken now.

Until the old mini-map is brought back, this game is a frustrating mess to play.

Player since open beta here(4ish years now?). The old mini-map was the perfect mini-map because It gave players all the information they needed without overwhelming them. You could see grid locations, enemies, your own orientation, seismic etc, all at a glance and you never had to pause to figure it out because it was sparse with extra details. This new map is just kinda the battlemap shrunken. You have to strain to see the enemy from the objective flags and it really directs your attention away from the battle. Even zoomed in, I do not feel it would be better. There is still too much to distract the player when you look at it. I dont need to see the flag locations on my mini-map, thats what my battlemap is for. If i need to see more detail I hit B. My mini-map is what I use when im in combat and need to see my location relative to my friendlies and the bad guys. As is Im getting shot in the rear by people I cant even see, because the mini-map has too many icons on it. Icons are bad. stick with colored dots.

Cooler and flashier is not better. Keep it simple. Simple works. Give players the info they need in the simplest fashion. Please bring back the old mini-map. I cannot stand playing with the new one and will probably not play until a change is made.

I have a feeling that removing mech orientation and utilizing a scaled down version of the battle grid map was all part of an effort to reduce resource demand on the servers. They figured they would remove as much functionality as possible to see what the community would accept, and now they'll give us back half of what we had before. Maybe they needed to free up resources to allow use of the command wheel. Russ did say that they were already using the best servers money could buy and that they were pushing them to their limits. Server tick rate was it?

He actually says in the video that server load was the primary consideration for removing mech orientation. I think it's extremely unfortunate, and I'm sorry they're apparently hurting for money (I know I've contributed a lot), but I would take mech orientation over a "command wheel" ANY DAY.

If this is the case and it does make gameplay smoother I could adapt per-say but I would rather the old fashioned close up radar for dog fighting and leave intel to the group coms. Regardless it should have some implementation of both close radar and long radar. FFS I hit B key if I want the tactical map and I do use this a load in Faction play. Why not have both in HUD. Maybe even let the other tac map overlay be optional in settings.

its amazing to see so many people say this is a deal breaker, its time to play another game. I strongly agree that vital information for piloting a mech is gone

having it be a circle is brilliant! i think it would be badass as well if the scale of this round minimap was dependent on your sensor range. that makes too much sense for me to not like it.

put "the big circle" or the new minimap somewhere between/under the coffee cup and the hula girl
where no one can see it, then we might agree to keep it.

The new minimap is useless. Can't see where my team is, can't see where the enemy team is, can't see where I'm walking relative to the map, no field of vision indicator. This was just a horrible idea :\

New minimap confirmed useless, UAVs almost useless now. Is there an option to turn the minimap off? Now THAT would be a feature.

Still need old map back... it's was perfect..... just GIVE ME BACK OLD MAP.... can't play... dat useless icons on my minmap.... don't fix new one.... don't spend ur money and time... it still useless.... just GIVE ME BACK OLD MAP.... How anyone could've reasonably signed off on this at PGI to let pass testing is absolutely beyond me.

Let alone how it could possibly have made it to a LIVE release which is absolutely disgusting.

The new minimap is just awful. I can no longer see my orientation or map coordinates. I feel like I'm staring a vastly-zoomed-out version of my old minimap. Please give us an option to toggle the old style or zoom in.

Don't even get me started on the voice spams from the new content.

If that is the case, then just lower the minimap update to, like every 2 seconds.
