russ said on twitter, (i guess PGI doesnt have the nerve to post on their own forums?) that they are going to zoom in the minimap some. you will still be stuck with whatever PGI is going to pick as the new "default" (they called it default, but that implies you can change it, which you cant).

However im afraid this will not resolve my motion sickness issues that are preventing me from playing.

I have to agree also, in fact ... it surprises me that they would make this change ... its almost as if it was totally not Beta tested.

I have seen only negative comments about this.

Also all those seismic radar modules I spent MILLIONS of MC on are obsolete scrap...

All sorts of information the old map made convenient is now impossible or inconvenient and confusing to obtain ... like target facing, relative range, grid number ... I feel like I'm flying blind...

Mr. Bullock also basically dismissed the possibility of a rollback. So someone decided to make a stand, eh? Well how about some proper damage control instead of those condescendingly short Twitter messages?

Not that I would personally care about that anyway.

Every single thing about this new minimap was bad. Too much wrong with it to go over them all, so I'm going to focus on one aspect of it: seeing the direction mechs are facing.

Based on that townhall clip, I can understand the reasoning, but it's simply pure crap. First of all, you should always be able to see your own frigging team mates. There is no reason you shouldn't have that info, your mechs are already communicating all sorts of information back and forth all the time. This sort of information withholding on the friendly side is idiotic, there is no justification for it and it artificially lowers your awareness and ability to play as a team.

Secondly, the reasoning for withholding that intel about enemy mechs, ok I grant that there is a sane justification for it, but it's still bad, and makes gameplay worse. You want to up the time to kill, and think that's good. It's not good, especially if you handle it this way.

What this does is promote timidness and passivity. You will make people just huddle together in a ball and have them wait for enemy to show their face over the terrain and blast it away. Two teams doing that makes incredibly boring matches. And that behavior is what you guide people towards with this change. The only people that get killed early are the ones who actually try to actively do stuff. You up the time to kill, and time the matches last, that's for certain, by promoting boring and timid play. fast paced matches are good. It means people are fighting and not just trying to hide.

According to Russ on Twitter, they are going to do a hotfix in a couple of days, but not a full rollback.

But i cant see anything on the mini map and its pretty much useless

The new Default zoom level I think will go back to the same map rotation and torso indicators as before, all should be verified soon.

What more is there to say other than change this Mini map asap please. Totally confusing as I lose all sense of direction when I look at it. The new symbols for the different weight class of mechs are to hard to make out. I spot enemy to left but in fact it is in-front of me wtf have you done to a part of the game that really didn't need fixed. I can't believe how badly this is effecting game play but believe me when I tell you it is. Please change it please please please...........Posted Image

The more games I have played the more I am totally convinced the susposed NEW Min Map is a total and complete failure designed by a 12 year old. It is totally useless!

OK Time to STFU!!!!!!!! Russ knows better than any of you stupid NOOBS! If this is what it takes to make the COMMAND WHEEL work then so be it! Russ knows better than any of you what is best for the game. We must follow his lead.


Now back to reality. The really sad part Is that I have 600 days premium time. That will probably be longer than this game is going to last.

I am in agreeance with the rest. As it stands it's useless and too tiny. Now if you could actually zoom in on it and return the rotation to it, maybe. I just wanted my vote counted with the others that it needs to go back to the way it was, or fixed in some way.

We can't even tell what our team mates have equipped on their 'Mechs, which we can see on our enemies. The direction they are facing is a much less needed information, IMO.

Just wanted to add my voice to the massive chorus of people upset that a decent minimap got replaced with a piece of s'wit.

Personally I am most upset with the lack of rotation and not showing your mech/torso orientation.

They are talking about changing the default zoom level but I would like it if they offered a variable zoom option .... that way brawlers could zoom in or snipers could zoom out appropriate for the needs of their playstyles.

I am starting to wonder about MW4 servers on Steam...
