The new mini map is absolutely useless....horrible change.

Bring back the old one! I doubt that PGI actually cares....but I will cease playing this game until it's fixed.

UAVs = now useless; Seismic = now useless; Orienting yourself with your allied team = now near impossible.

I have played numerous games over the years....since DOS games in 1992, Inevitably developers tend to make an adverse change that caused me to stop playing those games. This is one such 'game-destroying' change.

I'll come back in two days...when Russ says they will change it. If the mini map isn't back to the pre-patch mode...then I will be seeking another game to play.

Been talking to a few people and they are not happy with what pgi have done to the mini-map, it should have been tested on a test server , too be honest its spoiling the game which is a shame and new players will be even more confused with this mini map, don't get me wrong its nice to see new idea's put into the game as i have played this game for a long time and seen it grow over the years but this is the worst update i have ever seen which sucks.Frozen city map is nice and a welcome change, which brings me to the next thing since this patch , the graphic's have gone a bit blurry on all the other maps seems you have changed the resolution for some reason.

I hate the new mini map, it is totally useless. I first saw it and thought, the genius who thought this up has never played this game. Bring back the old mini map and we can go back to being friends. Is there anyway to turn off the command keys? It's a little annoying seeing stuff in chat like "Sorry" and "Help" under your handle and you have no freaking idea how they got there. I managed turn off the audio. BTW on a positive note Frozen City is absolutely gorgeous.

Please let us go back the old "radar" map.....it worked.

I am wondering what will happens if - for example - TomTom would change their map as the same as MWO...

I guess no one would buy their system...

The only good thing is: maybe there would be more detailed target calls or direction calls in the future - if the player group will accept the new minimap and learn how it works. And they could spent their money in other modules than the seismic...

But my point is: Please bring back the minimap and let the locust grew up a little - its very difficult to shoot them now with a unskilled Mech (heavy and above...)

Roll back the old mini map, or update the new to same zoom level , rotate and show direction of teammates.

2 thumbs down on new minimap. The old build was a great tool for the close fight, if I want to see the whole map, well thats what the big map is for. Very disappointed in this new build minimap.

Remember too, coordinates aren't found in the individual sector blocks, they are set up in column/row grid format. It will be interesting to see how PGI is going to tackle not having these coordinates visible if they are simply going to "zoom in" the mini-map.

It's like watching a vehicle stuck in the mud, continuing to spin the wheels, getting stuck deeper.

OK, regarding the new minimap:

Do you want me to leave your game again? Because that's how you get me to leave your game again!

I've returned after a long hiatus (after rage-quitting and uninstalling a year or so ago) and started to enjoy the game again. And you now what? I even planned on spending money again (which I haven't done since Project Phoenix), but than this patch happened.

The new minimap is useless. It should rotate, indicate field of vision and be either zoomable or zoomed in on my position already. While the new symbols are something that you can get used to, I don't think that the new minimap is something I will get used to.

You should consider changing it again - it will not only confuse veteran players, but new players even more so.

Two thumbs down on the minimap.

Do you play this game at all, PGI? How could you not see how crippling the minimap changes are? The amount of usefulness in the old minimap surpasses the new one by orders of magnitude. If I needed to see the whole map, I would hit B. If anything, put the old version back, and make it zoomable. Also, the map needs to rotate with our mechs.

EDIT: Look how many founders are here, who don't usually post... who are actually posting to say how terrible the minimap are. If that doesn't tell you that you've messed up, there is no hope for you.

Seriously PLEASE PGI, revert back to the old Minimap ASAP !!!!

This is terrible, disorienting and just frustrating !

Why did you change something as important as this that actually had 0 issues ?!
Why not put it on the Public Test Servers before going live with this ?!

A lot in Lords will stop playing at least after the "Summer Solistice" and just play on the
Tournament-Client where this mess is not active.

But why should you listen to us, were only the tryhard minority right ?
Well, I have not found a positive comment yet !

The issues your "QA" missed:

1. We are having a hard time knowing where our legs/torso is facing !
2. Hard to make a firing line now because you don't know where the enemy or your teammates
are facing.
3. Generally there is A LOT more bumping into eachother and FF now, because this minimap is so useless.
4. Calling a battlegrid is harder now.
5. Microscope needed to read it.
6. Spacing between teamates is hard to read.
7. Seismic is useless now.
8. Very easy to run "out of bounds" now.

If we are having those issues even with basics how do you think new players will feel ?!?
Just a hint, the directional arrow is NOT helping, specially, but not only on white maps !

I will be taking a break from MWO until a version of the Minimap comes back with at least an option for rotation... Or the original minimap is reinstated.

My car's GPS allows me a choice to see it North up, or Orientation.. which way do you think 99.9% of people choose? North up? I don't think so, they want to know what is in front of them, and behind them, and have some spatial awareness about their surroundings.

This one is a deal breaker. Why would you completely change a fundamental tool every experienced mechwarrior uses as a source of vital information?

Nope, this is the reason your players are dropping like flies out of steam, and fewer and fewer people are joining the game - stupid decisions based on god knows what team input.

Done, out of here, and next message is to my Unit to let them know I will not be participating until this error is fixed.

I was thinking I was going to be witty and put some valuable feedback concerning the new mini map, but I see that nearly every aspect has been covered

PGI,
Please fix the mini map, I would strongly suggest putting it back the way it was minus the directional input for other mechs. At a minimum make it rotate with the mech and allow zooming in and out. I appreciate what you were trying to do but it just does not work.

I dont get it... in the 21st Century we have Navigation Systems in our cars and in our cellphones that do a better job. they zoom in automatically at crucial intersections and for upcoming turns and display all kinds of useful information.
Now I am supposed to be sitting on top of a highly advanced warmachine with technology from the future and something as simple as a navigation system has become utterly useless? How is it possible that over the course of an entire century valuable knowledge regarding the simple functionality of a mini map, aka. Navigation System has been rendered utterly useless...
I mean I am lost, I am turning in wrong directions, getting motion sick, and my overall performance has declined significantly.
I never knew how much I relied on that "rudimentary" information on the bottom of my screen. Now I am completly lost.

Have to say this is a horrible step back to beta days when the mini map did not work and visual was the only way to fight.

I have played over 10k matches and for the most part am open to everything PGI tries. The mini map is the worst change ever and this is the first time I have complained about a game feature. The feature is not broken it just is a poor direction for the game. The mini map is a key part of tactical fighting and they tried to make it a strategic map when the B map option handled that role.

I understand the need to get rid of the extra information but why eliminate the tactical short range information you would be entitled to like sismic? Some of us are old and needed the greater detail, read: larger grids and smaller part of the map. You can put the new shapes in the old tactical map to eliminate the extra info.
