After people hated it, after people were getting motion sick from it (The NUMBER ONE BOZO NO NO in gaming and yet they put out that patch anyway.)
We get not the fix we wanted but what PGI deems we will get use to because the first patch sucked so bad we will except anything.
What better and exciting future developments can we look for??????
Say rather. What will they arbitrarily screw up next in their pursuit of their vision that will eventually kill this game off.
Just remember we got screwed out of Match mode selection, we are force fed the lesser of two crap match modes so they get any play at all, we get to select from 4 maps but only 2 game modes and the ridiculous voting system. AKA load balancing. CW/FW what ever it is now is still a stilted waste of time. This was a hose job from get go!
Of course I could be wrong and they, PGI are just that dumb and incompetent or it could be that this whole thing was a mech warrior game social engineering exercise to pave the way for the Eve On Line version of MWO. A seemingly failed one as game player numbers are dropping. May be they will learn.
RIGHT.
I would start looking for new game alternatives tho.
KEEP VOTING with your wallets folks, I WILL.

On the brightside though, playing as a back-stabby light mech, I've never seen so many lost and confused heavies and assaults as last night. While 1-3 kills is normal for a match, I was hitting 4-6 most games last night just from the number or people who seemed to be lost and separate from the herd.
Still, glad to see there's been a hotfix since; will look forward to that tonight. In the long run, a close/far toggle is the ideal solution really.

Exactly my thoughts as well and it's an interesting line of discussion.
The TAG sends signals as a pulse reflected into the sky where laser guided munitions can detect them and make course corrections but is homing in on the laser not the actual target.
Same sort of thing for NARC but using a radio signal.
This gives positional information more than anything else and as you've said, if you have line of sight for the TAG your sensors can work out the rest.
Given that for LRMs and Streaks in MWO we still need to acquire the target which means we are collecting data on it as long as we can hold the lock. Information on speed and direction of the target might be information that the sensors would pick up before more detailed info like weapon loadouts.
Facing might require visual line of sight.... which we need for the TAG anyway.
Artemis works the other way around in that it's the guidance system on the mech which has the targeting data and is feeding it to the missiles better than a non-Artemis equipped mech.
Point is, it is the mech sensors that are actually gathering that data. Now with the information sharing range that was tested, it may be interesting to discuss what that information would mean when fed back to a mech that is firing the missiles. Maybe it could affect the speed of the missiles?

Issues that persist are:
1. Small level of detail - I have trouble seeing the feature of terrain around me.
2. Contrast - due to colour contrats, those features that are visible are hard to discern withouth adjusting monitor setting, for each map separetly on load...
3. Field of vision lines are ncie addition, but the fact that is actualy field, not just 2 lines, is trouble. Due to it, details on the map are hard to spot.
4. Size of the mini map is still too large for comfortable play in most cases. And, mind you, I tend to play in Raven 3L, with 2 ER LLs and x4 zoom module. As a "sniper" I have no use of the minimap in the game for spotting the targets in distance. It is extremely usefull in spotting targets up close. If it is is 700m and away, on most maps, it doesn't even show on the mini map (radar) unless teammates are close enough to it. I search for targets in visual mode only, and minimap is extremely usefull to spot someone trying to creep up on me. This changes if I play melee build, Stormcrow or Raven 4x.
In short - colours/contrast should be adjusted, keep the field of vision lines if you will, but not the field itself (sorry, I am not native English speaker so I might be using the wrong word here), increasing the level of detail to the old version and just make it smaller. For general direction of spotted target, I can always look up the HUD.

I play with the little contents available to me since I love Battletech so much, but I do not agree with this kind of games.

It's far too dark to read ANY of the terrain features and you still have no idea where team mates are headed because the new (and largely pointless) symbols don't provide any info on which way they are facing. So, on polar or canyon maps for instance you can't tell which particular canyon or track they are on - you could on the old map.
If you're not going to give us any useful information on the enemy team fine - we'll just continue to let people stumble over each other and reduce matches to a game of chance rather than the application of any strategy or tactics - therefore making the ability to give commands equally pointless
The old map was still FAR more use for providing situational awareness. Pleas just give us the old map back.
If you're going to try and emulate the WoT minimap then put some effort into it and do it properly (yes I am a WoT player). Allow players to adjust the size of the map, display the terrain accurately and visibly and make the symbols for different mechs relevant and easy to interpret.
Think i'll go back to WoT tonight - at least when Wargaming provide an update it has been tested and generally represents an improvement to the game rather than a massive step back!

Okay. Honestly I don’t care about minimap and I'm not using it during the combat, compass is enough for me for orientation. But I found that new ("WoT style") minimap was better because it showed me tactical information overall and there was no need to press "B" button all the time any more.
So, PGI, could you please make a possibility to switch between the minimap modes by pressing some “key”: new minimap/old freeborn’s minimap? Thank you!

Oh yes looks, works like paper maps --- Yet here I thought it was radar? Have you ever used a real radar map/display or only paper maps? And no it's not how it should work. You read Left to Right, Top to Bottom.
You navigate by knowing you start point and destination. Direction of travel has alway been Up or Bottom to Top. By having the display when the battle map is opened placing the mech icon (You) at the top of the map is counter intuitive. To get any useful information out of the battle map now you have to open it(1), grab and center the map to the location you are or want to look at(2) and zoom in(3).
1, 2, 3 and or of course can't forget step (4) close map or was that die?................................................................

Unworthy TROLLing there Barsov, the patch and I use that term lightly was causing motion sickness. PGI knew it would and put it out any way.

Some people have odd reactions to some visual effects, or sudden changes to expected stimuli. A lot of people can't even play first person games without becoming sick.

Because during gameplay your mech is moving forwards or up.. looking down on the map your mech icon may be moving up/down/left/right.. so your brain has to adjust to that.. on top of that,.. if you are moving downwards, your brain has to reverse left and right with respect to your game view.
It just seems weird that you think it's..... weird.
Are you an android?

Thank you Sir for addressing my question. I like the changes, but admit I am in the minority. In my life the old style mini map was "counter intuitive". 40 plus years wandering aimlessly in the wilderness has conditioned me to expect certain things from my navigation aids. The "B" key is always there if needed. I believe PGI is on the right track. "Forward unto Glory"
