That looks SWEET!!!
Agreed. I actually do very much like the aesthetic change to a more grayscale and austere approach. I didn't even rememer the whole "battleship grid" problem as one of the things we had lost. So that would mean they are restoring 4/5 minimap aspects destroyed in today's patch. Very happy about this.

if the new mini-map will provide the same functions as the old minimap - will need to delete this topic that would not provoke the mud for trolls

While you all are sitting there being butt hurt, I'm gonna deal with the minimap and enjoy the game otherwise.

Sure. I have no problem doing that. It will have served it's purpose at that time.

Most of the trolls and white knights around are probably assuming I'm just here to whine because I can and afterward I will continue looking for issues just because I think complaining is fun. That's very wrong, and in truth I love this game, and when stuff like this happens to it I can't help but worry how much longer it will survive if as many people are listed in the first post refuse to play again because of it. Maybe some will still be lurking here and waiting for the hotfix like I am, but if this happens enough times, I'm sure people will call it a day and move on to greener pastures. I mean, I've done that for games before.
In this specific case, I'm one of the people that was put off enough by the patch to quit if it wasn't going to be fixed, but even if I wasn't, we don't have a large enough player base to afford this over easily avoidable reasons. I want PGI to know this and think about it the next time they are about to implement a poorly playtested patch that has only received apprehension or scorn from the early sneak peeks player have gotten of it (Looking at you Ghost Heat 2.0).

PGI have been consistent... in their poorly play-tested added features. Eventually they get it right and credit for that, but the implementation without actual proper testing is rather insulting to their customers. To my mind it smacks of a lack of professionalism and they're spoiled by a die-hard fan base that would play anything Battletech [I'm one]. I'm glad it's going to be fixed and it's frustrating to have the same pattern of bumbling go on and on with the owners of the rights of my favorite type of game. I'd jump ship if a competitive product existed without a second thought.

I too bitched, moaned and cried like a little baby over the new mini-map for a few days on end. However hours ago when Russ confirmed a quick hotfix I ended my ranting campaign.
This hotfix announcement was before you created this stand-and-be-counted thread. Otherwise I would have sought to be added to your list.
The good thing is that we have arrived at a happy ending and I applaud Russ' quick response to all our cries. Had the player base not been so vocal we may have not gotten our way, let alone so soon. I'm proud to have been one of the foot stomping babies. However once the war was over I immediately dropped my rattle. Others didn't seem to get the memo for several hours after the fact. Some apparently still haven't...

The ETA (still pending change naturally) for the hotfix that reverses most of the changes takes place tomorrow at 5pm, just if you didn't know.
In any case, I suppose I shall add you to the list?

Was it really? I didn't see a thing until moments before I linked to it in this thread, several pages and hours in. My apologies if I have misled anyone into thinking nothing was being done about it.
That said, I will hold out cautiously until a hotfix is actually implemented. Frankly I don't trust them enough to take their word for it until I see it.

yah add me to the list...
its not that they are willing to 'hotfix'... its just more proof of how detached they are from their playerbase if they actually thought it was a good idea to do this...
I was about to drop a few bills for butterbee, anyway they lost the purchase...
