Im probably the only one who feels this way but i much prefer the fixed minimap orientation. I really dislike minimaps that rotate to face my orientation but pre-patch i didnt have that option in game. No joke i even have my car's gps set fixed to north.

So instead of entirely murdering this change because of the tons of people that cried about it why dont we let the user choose which one they prefer. (hey i get it. Your favorite stupid rotating minimap is as disorienting and useless to me as my fixed is to you).

Just make it a toggle in the settings or something. Just because the majority prefers the old one doesnt mean all of us do.

Yes, another vote for a toggle to the mini-map to stay fixed. I just started playing and the rotating map was disorienting. Another similar game I've played has the mini-map fixed so that's what I'm used to.

Definitely need the torso and leg markers back on the map.

Maybe variable size too, where we can hit the + or - keys to make it bigger or smaller.

Variable size would be great too. I dont like stuff as zoomed in as most people here seem to either. I like a bit broader of a picture. Whats immediately around me is nice but so is the overall picture of the battle. Honestly i think the more options the better and just let people pick for themselves what features they want.

I saw quite a lot of praise for the new style tonight also, along with some dissent obviously.

IMO, a toggle/check box in the settings would be a nice touch for this overall. I mean, how hard would it be really, the code is there for fixed now, and will be for rotation soon.

I thought the old minimap was just fine and easy to understand.. cone of veiw at the top all the time right near the cockpit window in the front of the mech.. so what was in front of you on the map was in front of your mech.. what was to the left was to the left.. ETC....

and cause the map rotated as you did, I never had to look at the map and take a second to first figure out where i was at and which direction i was facing, and then to figure out where the enemy was in relation to me.. it was always OH hes on the left of me.. quick glance no thought nessicary. really i dont know how it could be easier.. we learn left and right in kindergarten.

when your looking at a map in the woods you find north and then TURN THE MAP so its pointing north too.. the old minimap just turned the map for you and oriented your view so it faced the same way you were looking

This isnt about how much you love ur rotating map. Ya its great for you. Wonderful.

This is for the minority that DOESNT like the rotating map that are going to get shafted when they revert back to it. All i ask is that for this feature you give us a toggle so that we can choose whether we want it to rotate or not.

They won't give us a toggle. PGI only cares about the group that cries the loudest. In this case, it's the people who thought the world would end because they gave us a minimap that's actually useful. It's going away and not coming back.

Though I hooted and hollered against the fixed map before the patch after actually useing it in game I found it not to be nearly as bad as I had thought it would be. Still prefer the old radar version along with the more effective seismic sensor, but will admit that some aspects of the fixed mini are superior to the old.

Yes, it would be nice to allow a toggle option in game for choosing one or the other. They've already done the work so why not?

i see that there is usefulness in the new map .. however like JadePanther I find it so disorienting I would rather not have any mini map than the fixed one. My auto GPS always changes orientation to where i am going .. that is the function of finding your way around, and when looking at real hand held paper maps .. again .. rotated to where I am facing to see where I need to go. It is just intuitive. the new changes are not intuitive at all. (granted i know that they are reverting it .. ) If i am in the minority group I wil go where the majority will lead .. that is my lot .. however if i am in the majority .. the minority should not have control over the whole. And I do see the usefulness of the toggle you speak of .. i agree that a toggle would go along way towards helping all , majority and minority.

(and this isn't about how much i love my rotating map ... it's not about love it's about being able to use an intuitive GUI .. that's what pc user interfaces are supposed to be about).

There always should be an option for this. I don't quite get the people that rely on their maps to always face north (it's a mind-mentality thing in how they view info), but I understand that some people are better with that.

I believe though that the majority generally prefers the rotating map though and having it an option for either method is usually the optimal solution (it's a win-win for everyone involved).

I normally use fixed map if there is an option in games.

The fixed map Is(was) too disorienting. I see far too many people wandering around "Like chickens with their heads cut off" right now. People can't tell where they're going, where the enemy is, or where those blips on seismic are, because we have to crane our necks at weird and painful angles just to try to figure it out, and by the time we do, we're dead.

It's just not helpful. I know some like it, and I do hope for your sakes that PGI gives you the option to Lock the map in a fixed position, but I for one am glad its going back to zoomed in and rotating as oriented on my mech, if anything, its easier on my neck.

A lack of directional aptitude on your part should not constitute an emergency on PGI's part. However, it's not worth following that line of logic any further, because here we are. P-Day +1 and it's already getting reverted because people refuse to believe they are capable of getting used to changes.

As usual people too often miss the point. Like the OP said, this isn't a question of which mini is better than the other. It's just about being given the choice to decide for oneself as an option.

Yes, I'm just repeating what he already said. Employees at my business often need to be told the same thing more than once so feel it sure can't hurt here as well.

+1 for a toggle to choose between fixed or rotate mode in the mini-map.

Personally I would revert to rotate and want this over fixed (if only one option). ...but I did start to get used to the fixed option (after initial confusion)... would like to have fixed zoomed out strategic view as an option and a zoomed in rotate mode when closing in on enemies (or wanting to move and stay close to team mates)...

I think I actually prefer the fixed map as well, with one caveat. Currently, your mech's map icon direction is determined by the direction of your feet, not your torso. That's a pretty bad idea. I think if they changed that one little thing, fewer people would struggle with getting their bearings.

I almost wish we could have a hybrid between the new and old maps... old direction and feet indicators with map centered on you, but you rotate and not the map.

Being able to call out absolute compass directions instead of vague directions like "behind us" or "to our left" is very helpful.

But I'm not going to cry if PGI only gives us the fixes they have planned.
