Hey, you want to run a 92-ton hardpoint starved mech that can leap small pebbles in a single bound instead of a proper Kodiak, don't let me stop you! ;)

(And it's still way better than the 1&5)

Yay for necro threads.

But, if you have some good fire control, I find this config works the best for me:

Might not be everyone's cup, but I love it. I have a similar config for my Nova (8 ERML), so I have some experience in handling the heat load. If you can handle the heat curve, it handles well and it can even give Kodiak-3s a source of panic from afar and up close.

Thanks guys. I see a lot of you have troubles with this variant, I think I will perhaps give it a pass and try some other mech for laser build, a heavier broher for my Nova.

I've equipped the KDK-1 with 8 MPLs and a TC7.
It's a bit short on range, but within the MPL range it's deadly as ****.

Can you tell me how many times are you able to fire before overheat? Not alpha, I think firing 4xleft and later 4x right side MPL is preffereble.

So much grief for this mech, thanks Hanky Spam.

I've settled on 6 med pulses and one PPC and TC1. That way I've got all ranges covered, get to keep the 400xl and flood the chassis with heat sinks.

I'am not exactly sure anymore and cannot test it right in this moment (can edit the results later), but I think it was 3 or 4 times until you overheat. You shouldn't forget that both arms have an alpha of 32 dmg.
So in a very short time-frame you can do almost instantly 64 dmg and more.
The highest damage that I scored with this setup was 1172 on mining collective. I would call this a viable build, though it's limited to some degree due to range...

In solo queue I went with:
1x lbx20
2x srm6a
4x mpl - (8spl is most likely the better option but mpl worked better for me)
Xl 400
