Okay, that wasn't meant as an attack on you. Sorry that you thought it was. Something tells me I'm going to need to come back across the fence at some point though. I haven't been getting those problems with my Non-Meta ShadowCat. Perhaps you would have luck with a Centurion? I hear AC/20's are good.

Eh... I guess? Of course, that means PGI horribly screwed up. Oh well, I guess when we're all happy, PGI will have solved their issues.

And that's why you NEVER go Loyalist... Always be a Mercenary... At least until PGI fixes their crap anyway, and makes FW Contracts not feel like the damned 'French Foreign Legion' anymore.

Or, heck, figure out a better Mech config and tactial style. However, if the place you're entering the line to play is filled with idiots, there isn't much you can do there. I've been there in that unlucky situation, and I know there's nothing you can do about it while you're stuck suffering anyway.

Go take a snooze. Apparently you didn't understand many people have Real Life to deal with, and they couldn't just go ignoring that due to responsibilities and unavoidable issues. Worse, PGI had mistimed things in the first place. At least they had enough smarts to partially correct their error, although it had to be after they were yelled at.

1. You want to bring almost max tonnage fighting mechs and not scouting mechs on scouting missions.
2. Fighting rewards way more than running the objective (another reason not to bring a real scout).
3. Super crazy to complete the challenge even if you play most of the 3 days. Quite frankly I gave up the last day. It started ruining my holiday. Only problem was 20 wins as a newer but decent player in PUG matches.
4. Wait times are super silly. Thank god I have a good book to read in between matches.
5. Only did a couple of invasions prior to needing to concentrate is I was going to be successful and Invasion looks like a total blast and I did fairly well. Will defiantly try again.
6. Long Tom is no fun at all. No really it needs changes. It was active in one of the matches. Besides everyone bitching non stop, people would get off the ship and be done in one shot. Air Strikes are bad but you can deal with them or survive often if you are aware. Long Tom just seem to defeat the purpose of dropping.
Fun Stuff.
1. Nice change of pace.
2. You have to learn a totally different way to fight that in smaller groups is more brutal and quick. Learned a ton.
3. Love challenges in general. This was cool.
4. GREAT to see new maps. I thought there was only the couple you see in quick play. Why aren't they all in quick play rotation?
And thanks for the call of extending the event so completing at least one challenge is possible.

Starts: Jun 30th 10:00:00 AM (PDT) (5:00:00 PM UTC)
Ends: Jul 11th 10:00:00 AM (PDT) (5:00:00 PM UTC)
Quoting the extended date back at me for what reason exactly? To show you were a moron and didn't ever read the original dates which were June 30th to July 6th ?

I know in the last minute of the last match I was out hunting the last lights of the enemy team and while trying to find a locust that was shooting at me I died out of bounds and got slapped for a suicide. Would hate to think that that is cause for a win to not register. 30 minutes of hard time put in and a 10 second screw up invalidates the whole thing??? As it was I was quite annoyed that that cost me my reward cbills ...
I have submitted a ticket to support and will see what they say, just curious if others have seen this behaviour as well.

Scout goals are easy to achieve, invasion on the other hand involves waiting around 10-30 minutes for both teams to form up if you get lucky enough...

After playing, and continuing to play after completing the event, I've noticed its very very easy to spot people who are new to CW/FW:
In Invasion they usually hangout in places where they cannot maneuver (like alone in C2 on Hellbore Springs, enemy team is just going to curb stomp you regardless of what 'mech you have), just go Rambo thinking they can bum-rush their way to victory, or decide they can win a poke war against the entire enemy team (why do people still do this?!?!). Its frustrating and usually leads to your team being down players on the third and final waves.
In Scouting they usually bring a 'mech that isn't suited to the role needed in the mode (LRM Shadow Cat, WTF?), all the while thinking they possess more skill than the other 7 people combined (or maybe I'm jaded into thinking that as they never respond well to help that is freely given in a calm manner).
I get that some people are very very new to CW/FW and there is an adjustment period (and more experienced players should take the lead or offer more friendly advice to help in this regard). But I think alot of the frustration on these message boards is from people who cannot be bothered to adapt to the different play style of the different game modes. And maybe, just maybe, as well as those of us who are tired of watching those very same people waltz into their game and die horrible meaningless unnecessary deaths (and then having to listen to those kids complain about it) that screw over any chance they had of a win, and event points.
All whining aside, thanks again for the free stuff PGI.

Change in meta to Nova's is making this a little less viable. Also if they are coordinated, you get primaried first a lot when you bring an AC20 to a scout fight, otherwise yeah, fun mech that eats crow legs fast so it does well enough.

In reference to Talos7's post, I had a thought... Why not add some more to the Training environment to help people acclimate to the goals of FP games...
- Show them where to shoot O-Gens and Omega.
- Dealing with Turrets
- The difference between a Recapture and an Attack (or defense and hold territory) could be illustrated...
Maybe that's over-simple, but they could have a series of training scenarios that are REQUIRED (and reward when completed as incentive) before you can drop in FP...

However, have to report that apart from the first 2-3 days, this event has so far been incredibly frustrating in terms of trying to get Invasion matches and wins in both modes.
It was so much easier in the last FP event so I suspect generally lower participation this time round? Did not help that the LT reverted to pre-hot fix mechanics.
Keeping my fingers crossed I can get the wins needed for my IS & Clan accounts by the 11th.
Update: After 2+ days of trying, finally got the last win needed for IS. On the other hand, completed the balance of the achievements required (approx. 50%) on the Jade Falcon account in less than a day.
Hypothesis is that having the bulk of Clan players in JF made it a lot easier to funnel people into the same planets with a greater percentage of experienced players per match than in IS.

Heck, guys... If PGI had just made the total event time 14 days, just like they did before with the previous Faction Warfare event when things went all to hell, it would have made up for both the Holidays that caused problems, as well as other issues creating the current "seal clubbing" of a grind that some of us are experiencing. Now if only they hadn't pre-ruined Faction Warfare in the first place in general with the Contract System changes that they released in the 'Phase 3' design. Oh well, I know I typed up a post on 10 Bullet Points to fixing CW/FP/FW @ http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/230053-things-that-would-make-faction-play-better/page__view__findpost__p__5224643, if they ever want to at least put things in a state where the MWO game in general could grow bigger and better once again. Until that time, I've worn out my brain on trying to help where it seems nothing good will come of it.

Invasion wins were hard to come by for IS especially since clanners during my game sessions seemed to only queue on planets with their long toms. All other stats were easy - wins took a while to luck out.
Scouting was pretty smooth getting the requirements. Won close to 75% of matches mostly solo, queuing with faction groups for games here and there. SHD-2D2 with max engine and srm4s. Aim for legs. GG.
Edit: some weird autocorrects.

But once you're over to take your share in mediocrity (is that a word?), it gets easier quickly.
So, thx PGI for the free stuff, especially the two mechbays - the rest, well, it was free, so I won't complain, but it wasn't terribly useful.
edit:
Actually, maybe it is even 3 free mechbays, seeing I'm only 2.5k loyalty rep points awai from the next rank that bestowes another mechbay and 500 MC. Nice. And no, I don't care about the C-Bills or the GXP, have plenty of those, since I mostly play the same mechs due to mechbay shortage.
