How Can We Pgi Convince To Remove/fix Long Tom?

PGI must know what a stupid piece of ******** [Long Tom] is. They must have the date but take no care of it. And I am sure that a great mayority of the player hate it and many stopped playing FP at all.
This is the second event which is ruined by the worst Game-Design-Error ever. Why must his happen? Why must this great game suffer by such a stupid thing as throwing nearly random A-Bombs on the mechs?

Have anyone an idea how we can convince PGI to fix [Long Tom] or, better, to get rid of it?

Your solution is not to play invasion mode and not to play against Long Dumb?

Actually the problem is People like yourself who moan when the going gets a little tough.

BTW, I actually agree that LT is a mini nuke but whining about it doesnt fix anything, you have options to get around LT and not have to face it.

Just answered a call to arms. Mixed pug team. First strike of Long Tom killed a Mauler, a King Crab and 2x Atlas all at 100%. Overall Long Tom killed 40 of 48 mechs. I think this is more than "a little tough"...

more scouting = faster long tom for clanners

Can't stop the seals from scouting during the event.

P.s. Falcons didn't even need 2 hours to get it last ataclk phase.

Funnily enough the only peeps whinging about LT in here and 12th DG.

Show some spirit guys, you are organised, start dropping 4 mans and show them what you can do, except whining that is.

Ok... just scout if you got at least a three men group on ts ( better 4 ) and bring the right mechs to scout-mode.

There are many threads, new and old about this topics. When you are able to read... do it (no problem when your are a little slow at reading... you have time).

As a former Wolf loyalist I do understand that Count and feel your pain, how many players does 12th DG have?

Start making use of your experienced resources and stop moaning, it actually doesnt do your unit any favors.

I find that whole long tom/scouting thing incredibly funny now, thats some first class game design if I ever saw some.

Does make it hard when your unit is not that active. Perhaps have a chat to the guys at HHOD if they are still with Steiner and start co-ordinating with them to get numbers in the scouting queue.

I'm actually going to step up and state that (as far as I'm concerned) Long Tom is TERRIBLE for a PvP environment. Regardless of whether a faction is actively scouting to achieve or deny it's activation, the fact that the players it affects have no control over whether it is or isn't deployed during their match means they are victims not players.

Yes, once the LT has been activated the sensible option for any player on the receiving end is to stop playing the Invasion mode and spam the Scout mode until it is deactivated or (more likely) the Invasion defenders dry up and the attackers ghost drop the planet to 100% anyway.

However the reality is that PuG/solo/Freelancer players will continue to answer the Call-to-arms for the Invasion defence, to then face the might of the mini tactical nuke, AKA Long Tom. Then they will either come to the forum and complain loudly (I hope) about how unfair the system is. Or more likely, will simply not drop in FP again and for the true casual players with no real vested interest in the IP, simply uninstall.

It is THAT bad of a game mechanic in my eyes.

I am a gamer, I play games to have fun and having some RNG uber weapon either kill me or a swaith of enemies is NOT fun. I would rather know I lost or won due to my enemies or my own skill (or lack of ;) ). The current representation is the TT equivalent of your kid brother randomly throwing bricks onto the table every two minutes, amusing the first time but induces monumental rage very quickly.

Bad answer is bad. You and I both know that scouting on pug vs pug bad v bad hugely favors clans.

People play games because they are fun. If scouting isn't fun, people don't play it. When that results in Invasion not being fun they don't play that either. If this situation was reversed there would be no Clan players and all mercs would be IS. If Scout tonnage was 45 tons or less, same thing. Clans wouldn't show, LT bad, etc.

It's easy to say "put up with it and play anyway" when it's broken in your favor. I can drop scouting for several hours in a 4man and lose only a couple of matches but we still lose scouting because bad IS pugs in LPL locusts face tanking 4 skillcrows fail faster than I can win matches.

It's broken, the guy disadvantaged by it being broken doesn't want to play until it's fixed. That's perfectly legit. Not everyone wants to just run scouting all night.

Tell you what - make Scouting 45 tons. BJ vs Fridge, Oxide and Jenner 2s. If it goes suddenly the other way you'll show up to get LTed every match and call for all your pugs to do the same?

Broken mechanics shaft everyone. Get them fixed.
