Guess PGI wasn't listening when the majority of the player base said the don't want and don't care about another new mech release.

Lol at majority - you mean some ranters on the forum. I bet this sells a lot ....

It looks like the paint scheme of the special variant is derived from the unseen TRO 3055 art work.

All the variants past A are bogus. They are supposed to be from 3060+ and use stuff like heavy lasers and snub nose ppcs and MRR. So not expanding the time line to include IS weapons that we are already supposed to have (3055 was the release of the newest clan mech available) but willing to throw in bogus builds to make a few quick bucks. I'd go on to complain but no one is in that department obviously.

But he IS right.
The gameplay deteriorates greatly and instead of bringing yet another mech they should focus on refitting weapons and firing.
Since they came out I've been waiting for ACTUAL lbx acs that can SWITCH between cluster and slug shots. just my 2 cents.

You are aware that the people designing mechs are on a completely different team then the ones who are trying to work on fixing FW, right? Please tell me you arent this ******* stupid to think that just because you have artist working on new mechs which keep this game running, are taking away from the developers and programmers who are on the team working on FW. Throwing artists at a problem that needs to be resolved by programmers and designers isnt going to fix the game mode any faster.

You all act as if its a zero-sum game, where if they work on new mechs (which is the only way they make money since they cant sell merchandise) then they cant work on game modes. If they work on game modes they cant work on new mechs. For a community that supposedly 'prides' itself on being mature, you all whine like a bunch of babies. The General discussion forum is just a massive circle-jerk of who can hate the game more and stroke their rage boners because X weapon or Y weapon hasnt gotten a buff.

I personally like the new design, and think that the majority of the variants are good, just in different situations. Just because its doesnt have a dozen energy slots so you can put on the most meta build in existence doesnt mean the mech sucks.

Finally! That's all I gotta say on that. Except when the Marauder [Inner Sphere version] was added, something told me that this beauty was not far off. :)

So the II-D has a 255 STD with a top speed of 48kph.

Is this the first clan mech to get shipped with a total joke engine, IS-stylie?

No.

The Kit Fox (30t) and Adder (35t), the first light mechs released for the Clans, both shipped with engines that capped max speed at 106.7kph (pre speed-boost reduction). This was at a time when it was a rare light mech not going in excess of 150kph.

This mech, however, is capable of replacing said engine.

Assault, not heavy. 85 tons. Not all IIC mechs weighed the same.

Just a question to be sure. The extra mech in the pre-order bonus does come with its own mechbay, right? It isn't mentioned, so I thought I'd ask.

Those are strange lorewise, since 5M and 5D were developed after the Exodus,

Hello... Wolf's Dragoons... they fed the Clans decades of scouting intel about the Inner Sphere and the mechs used by the great houses. Also its logical that the same sorts of weapon designers went down the same route for weapon configurations, in different parts of the galaxy. There's only soooo many ways you can outfit a mech, and there's going to inevitably be some overlap. Hell the Wasp and Stinger were essentially the same mech except one got an SRM2 and the other a pair of MGs, to go with the medium laser.

I wonder if it will be larger than the IS Marauder to better reflect the 15 ton increase in weight?

Actually do the Clans even have an 85 ton assault (aside from the Warhawk)?

Lots, even if you don't have the physical or PDFs of the TROs, Sarna has all the known mechs listed. Pretty easy to find what other 85 ton clan assaults there are already in Battletech.

Arnt you bored of fighting the same style over and over and over again? I mean we need to be able to differ from what is currently available to us. Go ahead and sink money into the game if you want, but my money will stay in my pocket till I see whats coming up in the future.

Well, ... I guess I'm not bored, if I was I'd probably stop playing the game, but as I am drawn into it for other reasons as well (the lore, nostalgia, stomping big robots,...) I find new content exciting.

I agree with you completely as far as options and versatility of playing styles go, but I guess there is really no interest on PGI side to implement new weapon system mechanics, which is sad.

I for one believe that this game would actually need a LOT more lore in the FW department and implementation of Quick Play into the FW. New players should start out by selecting one of the three careers immediately after the tutorial, just like MW4 Mercs where you choose which unit you'll join. After that all QP matches should count toward fliping planets, I don't know... 50 - 100 QP matches in addition to std. FW game to win the sector.

I know I'm completely off-topic here, but since everyone's getting salty anyway, it won't stick out too much...

Anyway I think the MAD-IIc looks awesome, and that burnt metal paintjob looks sick Posted Image and with all that pod space, it's gonna be a blast!!!

Actually no, no Dragoons involved here)) Both 5M and 5D were made after Helm Memory core was discoved, at that point Dragoons have already swapped the sides.
None of this actually matters, since both variants were "invented" by PGI. Or I better say copied from the IS Marauder. Up to you to think of lore reasons why those two might have existed, I still believe it was simple human laziness (or call it gameplay "reasons")

Can't completely agree with you, there are not that many ways to configure efficient mech.
There are "meta" configs both in MWO and tabletop, but there is no interest in playing those perfect machines. Certain degree of imperfection makes things interesting in tabletop, that is why things like SSRM2 exist at all. MWO just inherited those imperfections, but since customization is free and not limited by skill checks like in TT we all play lasor- and gauss- vomit and etc.

I love the marauder. I always thought the cannon on the IIC variant was more in the middle above the cockpit as it was in MW2 but from the art it looks like it's center right much like the inner sphere version. Still this is a buy for me

$20 for four mechs (with pre-order). that alone is reason enough.

now if we can just get some PvE...

It's a game decision.
In "lore" and TT LB-X had been balanced with costs, availability and battle value. Cost is irrelevant to us since we just play another round to buy the good but expensive stuff.
In essence, an LB-X would've been a lighter AC with the same damage and characteristics as the usual AC - minus one slot and one ton to invest in mounting so.

You would make all ACs obsolete.
Right now you make a decision - spread or no spread, light or heavy. With LB-X as known from the TT you don't make decisions, you just switch.

But I definitely want to have an LB-X 2,5 and 20 in the game on IS side. No reason to hold them back, won't flip the balance.
Timeline as a reason is... nonsense.
PGI won't bring a true rotary, HAG etc because these weapons are pure powercreep. Hard to balance them versus existing weapons to justify their existence.
