Ton for ton the Marauder IIc should obsolete the Battlemaster and Stalker. The Rifleman IIC on it's own has the potential to so heavily obsolete the Jagermech (& possibly also the thunderbolt) that along with the up coming Night Gyr, Linebacker and Huntsman release, IS pilots won't have a single mech in any weight category that can out perform a clan mech of equivalent tonnage, even in niche "uber quirked" roles, excepting the locust pending release of the piranha or another clan 20t'er?
They'll find a way to balance this. They have to. Unless they make changes to clan population/usage there isn't really any other way to make matches remotely fair because you can give players clan mechs, but that doesn't mean they'll adhere to the clan's honor code.
...if they could, then there would be a whole wave of griefing from those that would want OP and not have do things by honor.

Ya I'm a little pissed about that to. Especially because the art showing the Scorched depicts it with the S variants hardpoints and it looks really good with them. I know that it's the same with every concept they just use the base loadout and just change the camo over it, but I'd love if they changed the hardpoints to match the proper variant.

Might have something to do with things they said, did or did not. Long Tom comes to mind. The new-and-improved Mini-Map. The ever-the-same boring chokepoint maps that double as placeholder for Faction Play. And so on.
You're right in saying that 'Mech designers are not necessarily programmers, but you need to hire people who help you with the things that need to be done most direly. Player retention comes to mind. Gameplay improvements after that.
But apparently PGI thinks 'Mech designers are higher priority. So that makes it pretty much clear where their priorities lie.
You don't think... noooooooooooooo WAY! They're not nerfing one chassis, making people buy back their former power levels with a new one. Can't be!
If you haven't been paying attention to the townhalls, a couple months ago they hired 2 level designers to help make more FW maps, and to help fix issues with current maps. Which is one of the reason Veridian Bog isnt such a pain in the *** to move around in anymore thanks to them fixing a lot of small issues with the map. They also worked on the Frozen City rework, and I think Terra Therma is the next map thats getting fixed with the new level designers. And just a couple weeks ago they had like a 3 hour townhall meeting with faction leaders about idea's on how to fix buckets and add things to the game mode, like faction alliances and other ideas. Maybe give those town halls a listening before you ***** about them 'not doing anything'.
Also, the Marauder needed some balancing, just like the Clan Timberwolf when it got released and completely dominated and needed nerfs. The Marauder was honestly too good and needed to be brought down to reasonable levels because of just how much the mech out-performed almost every other heavy.

If this is true, it would explain a lot. And it would diminish my hope for any future for this game close to zero. How long most people can play same 24 people deathmatch with same tactics, same weapons, and for the most part, same people? Most people i know from the "old days" (the few left, most long gone) are "burned out" already, the hard fans.
Considering Team Fortress 2 has been around almost a decade, and only recently added new game modes (like Mann vs Machine), and its almost exactly the same as MWO (without the hats) and yet both are still going strong. And since they are both F2P and FPS, they are games that you can leave for awhile and get back into at no extra cost. I cant tell you how many times I have had to take a break from WOW, and I have played that game since vanilla.

You get a free mech and dekal with the package, which considering clan mechs easily cost anywhere from 5 mil to 18 mill, that extra mech is worth more than the cbills you would have otherwise been given.

The Marauder never out-performed every other heavy. When it came out, the Black Knight was still the dominating choice for mid-range combat, the Grasshopper for extreme range, and the Timberwolf for short and long ranges. Then the Warhammer released with far and away superior weapon hard-points and quirks, trampling not only the Marauder but also the Black Knight. It is still the better 'Mech.
The Marauder is solid, and that is as good as it has been since day one. There is no specific role it can fill where there isn't a better option.

- No I mean from both side all dead except 2 players from two team. Match time set and till the end we have 12-8 min. First and second players gets draw. One loose all weapons - second have no ammo in mech. They cant kill each other or finish somehow duel in private game. If go out from play - mech would be locked for remaining time. That especially annoying when private lobby used for mech test in real battle. You have plenty of time but cant reboot play for new try. Some kind button of ejection needed.

Unless they fudge the engine cap (stock 195 * 1.2 = 235 max engine, that's 58kph), the RFL-IIC won't be obsoleting anything.

I have been super supportive until then, probably $500 in.
Also, not a big fan of the removal of the 6 million C-bills in the preorder rewards. It's a "free" thing for PGI, they need to keep increasing preorder incentives as the player base slopes off.

Marauder 2c

PGI in game state can not apply the Version 2 technology since the clan version only firepower and visible because the technology that interests as the shielding and heat dissipation. And what about the third type of armor. New weapons ??

Not gonna argue with much, but some would argue the free mech and mechbay out-value 6.5 mil cbills...

If there's one thing I'm good at in this game, it's making really stupid 'mech builds that are so far out of the meta that the surprise they cause in enemy pilots makes me win.

-You get a whole extra heavy mech and a mechbay, if you don't like it, sell the mech and you'll prolly get close to 6.5 million cbills and still have a free mechbay.
I see strengths and weaknesses across the board, people hyper focus on that ECM reinforcement and it has a lower engine cap.
1) Between the omnimech lights and the jenner IIc, clans have all light roles pretty well covered (save for the 20ton slot since I don't care for the Lynx.... lol)
2) PGI knows that heavies are the most popular weight class and are probably counting on this to sell more merch. I don't think this is inherently bad since they need to stay afloat...
Firstly I stand by the comment that the lack of C bills is a bad omen. In terms of the Clan mech such a KDK-3 yes you can sell it at around 11M C-bills (this my quad AC10 with a slightly downgraded engine) but take most other omni mech that have and they would hardly get 4M (My TBR-C(C) for example), so unless this is a one off then this is a bad omen if that is what they are doing. Keeping the mech bay is US$1.40 or being generous 100k C-bills but I am already paying real money so I am not sure I am getting extra value out of that.
The figures above are If you take the fact that a 1US$ is 250MC and roughly 1MC is 250 C-Bills
yes the other point are somewhat subjective but I feel that Gauss and ECM does have distinct advantage especially Clan Gauss's advantage over the IS version too. I am not sure there is an ECM dual Guass IS for example. Lastly none of the builds are optimal which is why the C bills is handy when I bought the Phoenix hawk I think I spent good amount changing the engines and reconfiguring them to be just better mech
Lastly when someone buys these mechs they are spending dollars, which is supporting the game personally I'd prefer to pay for a better modes and PvE rather than new Mechs but it appears new mech is all I can support so whilst i still have to make my mind up about this one ( I have bought basically on average every other release ) I'd be concerned if they did this for an IS light where the value would not make any sens in my view. hence the point of the omen
Anyway not to start a flame war (as everyone knows opinions are like arseholes everyone has one and everyone elses stinks more than your own. ) and thanks for the counter view

The cbills reward wasn't always there ya know. They only started offering that with the Marauder pre-order last year. All the packs before that, there were NO c-bills as an early adopter reward item.

I would buy an Archer pack immediately if it came with the since-removed preorder rewards.
