Didn't take long for the community to find and exploit the new system on the PTS. 3 PPC ballistic/gauss builds were one shoting mechs left and right last night.

No gauss charge up = Bad idea

And which mechs did so?

That's the whole point of doing it on the PTS--to find out any builds too strong, and how to patch up the loopholes. While 45 PPFLD damage is as bad as the poptart era meta, you surely exaggerate about them one-shotting mechs. Instead of talking ****, you should thank them.

I suppose mechs like Misery, Highlander-732, Banshee-3S, etc...

wow and it took me one hour after reading the theoretical changes to already find a one shot DWF build.

but thats what the PTS is good for, findign the holes so someone can fix them before a catastrophic flawed system comes Live.

The biggest problem won't be fixed with "gauss charge up", or "ghost heat", or "energy draw" or whatever.
Because the biggest problem is the instantaneous, perfect, pin-point convergence.

THAT'S the issue. No amount of bandaids you slap onto it will be enough to fix it.

yep, which is what it should be used for.

too bad new minimap didn't get the same treatment.

But the. again not as big as this so *shrugs*.

There is one.

Induce a smaller magnitude of the MASC shake reticule when firing a bunch of pinpoint weapons such as so.

There, there's your ugly band aid. Not that I like it or anything.

Why would this be a surprise to anyone?
even with the charge up mechanic - people regularly are seen popping mechs left and right using gauss/PPC.

There's a reason that PPC/Gauss is the meta choice for competitive play.
Removing the Charge-up simply makes it a build that's more accessible to average players instead of Pros and those who use "software assistance".

Well, that's not really a bandaid, in my opinion, because it targets the actual issue, instead of trying to do... whatever the energy draw system is trying to do

But with enough band-aids in the right spots it wont be able to move, or it will suffocate and die.

Call it a prediction.

Uh... you do know the purpose of test servers is to TRY and break the system to see how robust said system is right?

That's literally Software Development 101.

If people need software assistance for gauss then they need to go play an Elder Scrolls game for ****'s sake

The issue is that our Balance Overlords™ aren't very good at repairing the system after it gets broken...

The problems is in a one size fits all system like this in order to nerf these builds you are going to end up nerfing other builds that really don't need it.

A simple screenshot of the new minimap would have been enough to tell anyone with eyes that it wasn't going to work.

Just like the good old days of beta, if an exploit is discovered then as many as possible should abuse it so PGI gets the data they need to change it. Hard data works better than telling them they should have known better.
