Wait, mech class is displayed?

I can tell the weight class of the square contact blips from the mini map? How did I miss this? Posted Image

They are. I'm not saying the new mini map is the top of creation end-game-design feature. There is a room for the improvements. But this overall good design doesn't deserve to be called "WTF". At least it's not fair.

Yes your right, my awful abilities at this game are totally relevant to your assertions that the Minimap is better than ever. I as an awful player want to use the minimap to try and help my team. I guess ultra elites like you don't need no stinkin minimap.

WTF fits the current status of the mini-map perfectly because you can't use it. You may praise PGI for the new mini-map texture which nobody asked for and serve no practical use but the fact you can't read grid coordinates means the map fails in its main purpose. To make PGI's decision even more unfathomable, the older versions worked fine. Heck, the older older version worked even better.

It's like PGI taking a car, adds a fifth wheel and remove the doors. You may praise the new and pointless 5-wheel drive shaft but without a door, the car fails at its main purpose. The failure of the mini-map is SO blatantly obvious, one has to shout WTF at the process that saw this go from an idea to final implementation without anyone raising an objection.

I love these guys...."I'm tier 1 therefore better than you and your opinion doesn't matter". Every once in awhile they rear their ugly heads.

Re-allocate devs who work on the minimap to building some actual new maps instead. Many hours have been spent on minimap dev in the last couple months.

Listen to your paying customers. If it ain't broken don't fix it.

I would like to see the grid squares and numbers in a brighter font. The people who are upset about this probably can't play the game at 1980x1200 resolution, and it's harder to see. I play at 1600x900, not because I have to but because I get more consistent frame rates. The grid scale could be more visible, frankly.

Are maps still are simple images which game using?
If yes - than you can simply do 100500 variants of those images with different styles of battlegrid and make an option in menu to change sets...
Is it so hard?

Actually it was broke before.

PGI had steady darkened the minimap to a point where it was almost useless. Couldn't see contours, couldn't see objects, couldn't see pretty much anything BUT grid locations.

The maps themselves are a HUGE improvement. Thank God! Leading a group on those old maps was like the blind leading the blind.

Fixing the grid locations, which indeed are too small, should be no big deal.

Agreed, just give us some options, like google maps...Sattelite? no...Terrain? sure.

So far I have no issue with the new minimap after the 25th hotfix. Grids are visible, so is terrain.

no real problem either, maybe a little less clear than the previous working version ( which was a little worse than the version before that) but it would be nice if the mini map defaulted to clear simple graphic information or at least had the option to select the type of map you want to see. After all the real purpose of the mini map is quick reference information. basic graphic design principles should apply.

pls make the coordinates visible again, no way to see if the enemy mech is in "D4" or in "F6"................ its really unreadable.....do something pls

How about a compromise? Basic graphic design for the cockpit minimap, and more detailed terrain minimap when you press the map button to bring it up.
