I was just in a game where a 2x ERLL Spider almost won the game for us when everyone else was dead, and he pulled 3 kills to tie up the game 11-11 in the last 5 mins of the game. It came down to him vs a Kodiak, and the match was to 53 sec before the kodiak got him. That was an amazing game to watch.

What were the enemy doing? QQing in all chat the whole time that they should be reporting the guy or we should be calling out his grid square and when the guy finally went down, one guy was like "was it worth it?"

That was the best match Ive seen in a long time, and all some people could do was complain -.-

It was an AMAZING match. If youre not here for that why are you here?

It all depends on how well the pilot is doing, when he pulled back from being near his teammates, and how fresh everyone is. When it's a Cicada with no armor left vs 6 enemy pilots who left his team to die when only 5 team members had died and started plinking away with large lasers at maximum range until the end? Then I'll complain. But 3-4 decently damaged mechs vs a pilot who seems to be capable of doing more than alphastriking twice then dying? THAT is fun to watch and I encourage it happening.

When the guy is fighting, all the power to him.

I really hate people who run off and hide, but I've seen games turn from landslide loss to win by a good last light pilot.

NGNG's stream captured this Raven pilot really cleaning up as the last man standing:

http://www.youtube.c...yl4E#t=0h59m59s

Dude pulls a 930 damage, 6 kill game in a Raven with 2 ERLL's. Pulls the game back from 6-11 against to win. Crazy.

Mostly fesh Kodiak (which he got to no armor), Fresh Hunchy (that he killed), and there was another (that he killed)

The best Ive ever seen this was an ERLL Locust (non ECM version) who on Caustic, when we were getting rolled - they had 3 dead, he was the only one left on our side - somehow pulled out a win

I love watching those. I'm totally not a light pilot; I understand the theory, but I just don't do what I know I should do when doing it... But watching a good light pilot doing that? It's beautiful. Doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's golden.

I've had games like that with my ECM spider. One ERLL might not seem like much, when no one is left on their team who can catch me... on a large map with terrain to block which direction I'm displacing towards... many folks armor for face tanking... and really cannot take even a 9 pt shot to the rear side torso. Also I like to save the air strike or artillery to the end for those games, because once the structure is exposed, there's a good chance the bombs/shells might blow off something important. You cannot get a critical result or a head shot anymore I believe with artillery, but you can still outright health kill the engine or the internal structure of a vital area.

What can I say? A big chunk of the player base suffers from very severe ADHD that unfortunately a [redacted] (good will and hope) is the only solution.

PGI, refusing to implement engage timer in Skirmish - is one of the reasons, why I don't play this game any more.

+75 seconds engage time for every player in your team alive. Resets with every player on your team death. Stops for 5 seconds, when you engage. Timer runs out - autolose with non participation penalty. As simple, as that.

No other game out in the world allows starvation tactics, if it has competent game developers.

Personally I say make em work for it.
Never ever go easy.
If you are so damn impatient quit the freaking match.
And go play another match.
Sheesh.

I'm sorry (not really) but if I want to spend my sweet time repositioning/trying to gain a tactical advantage so I can kill you and the rest of the survivors of your sorry team in the last minute I damn well will and there is nothing you can do about it. Intentionally ******* with your puny minds while doing so is the whole point. <shrugs>

Yep, the reporting system is just too easily abused by butthurt losers, reporting their own teamates just because they were smart enough to not throw themselves at the enemy or nascar around like lemmings rushing to the cliff of death.

If your last pilot is actually doing something rather than running away, then by all means let the red team whine all they want.

Maybe that spider knocked off a couple of them while they were busy typing in the chat window rather than piloting their mech.

Also, PGI caters to the ADHD crowd by insisting that every match should have fighting within 1 minute and usually last no more than 4 minutes from beginning to end. Tiny maps. Team deathmatch. 2-3 different paths to walk, but some maps narrow it down to a single location where the fighting always happens.

People are so conditioned to drop, walk 60 seconds, shoot, kill, die, get results and disconnect, anything that breaks the norm is met with confusion and anger. "Wait, I have to walk more than a minute before I can shoot someone on this map? There are no pre-determined destination where everyone fights all the time? Jesus Christ, MWO is a WALKING SIMULATOR!"

C'mon...it's not just MWO.

Pretty sure playing COD I've heard "....YOU'RE A MO*****ING CAMPING AS***OLE AND I"M FU***ING GOING TO HACK YOUR CONSOLE" from more 11-12 year olds than MWO has players.

The problem is PGI is trying to be a 'casual' game but when it takes (with waits) 10 or so minutes to start playing....you've lost about 60% of the ADHD crowd.

OMG...when MWII had lobbies with 7-10 minute waits there were nuts sending bomb threats to the developers....."No Mans Sky" came out with a 1 month delay to tighten up the game code and they got SUED!! They also got death threats.

I blame the 'instant gratification mentality' that high speed internet and cell phones have ushered in. Posted Image

Wanna have some fun? Take any 12-16 year old camping with no wifi....I was a scout leader and, while not banned, we asked cell phones to be put up while camping. It was like watching teenage addicts with DT's....uh...not that THAT is funny or anything...but you get what I mean...

'Conditioned', i think that is correct. Or its just the average brain-stem level of Pug play.

Best I've done in a light was my Pirate's Bane with 4 MLas on HPG playing hide and seek, I got 5 kills and managed to take the game from 7v11 to a win. Took me a while to do it, the entire time the bulk of my team and the Red team were bitching that I wasn't showing up for execution...

Well most of the time he WAS running away but what he was doing was positioning himself

Technically that would not work.

On most maps you can't engage someone who is way faster than you, such as the said lights. Lights would win most of the time, and they would avoid most engaging, until only they are left.

But taking that idea, and assuming a way to implement it.

Does not lights have right to play till their own end as well? Lights when last, can use their speed and specially ECM and long range weapons(when they have such), to their advantage. But they need to build up the distance first.

Sometimes they can even win. Most times just to score more damage.

Yes, the downside is, sometimes people just hide. But they do that with mediums and occassionally with larger mechs as well.

For that, is the enemy team to denounce the last one. They can see better what he is actually doing and make the evaluation.
