Careful man.
I brought up this issue when marauder was announced... when Kodiak was announced... when Phoenixhawk was announced... and when they announced loyalty rewards.
And every time... white knights responded with: "hey those collectors are for the truly dedicated customers" and "collector's pack has 30 days extra prem time so it has value" comments (like PGI is doing special treatment to them for their effort or something)

In this game, the more you buy, the less you get over time.

I too have over 2 years of useless prem time banked... so collector's pack is just double price for a re-skin and 30% cbill bonus on a copy-paste variant.
They don't even give you new cockpit items... it just gives you 3 copy-pastes of the ones you get in the standard pack

Somehow buying mech pack after mech pack non-stop is not enough loyalty.
You have to accept being ripped off to become loyal!!!

inb4 white knight attack!

TBH I do not think a good way to show "Loyalty" is buy one thing in 2012 and leave it at that... I mean, even then the founders got a C-bill boost bonus to their mechs, they recieved the first wave of loyalty mechs... there was several events around the founder mechs... etc.

It is afterall a "Loyalty" program for both active players (with the cockpit items and such), MC purchasers (mech), and package buyers (more mechs). Would be... weird, to just pelt rewards at players who haven't played in aeons...

After the treatment that I have gotten as a Whale for so many years i.e. I need to buy totally useless Mechs in the Collectors Edition to qualify for you know what, and that the Hero Mechs do not count I will never spend another cent here. I have enough banked Premium time that will outlast the game that I never ever need to spend another dime here.

Well done PGI you got rid of another whale with your policy.

Seriously who needs 2 identical Mechs ( I was a Whale like I said and have all the packs from Legendary Founder till the one before the Linebacker I stopped there and all the hero mechs I will ever need), not for the lousy 30% more credits, I have more of those then you can shake a stick at, what I wanted was MECHS and not copies, so the totally uselss for me at least Collector Packs were and never will be an option, end of a sad story.

well, 2 of the identical mechs stemmed down from a bug with upgrading purchase. originally the collectors shouldn't give 2 of the same mech, it was meant to give the special one instead of the standard but if you get the standard pack and upgrade to collectors you get both so PGI was like "Why not let that happen?".
I liked that approach >.> I buy double ups of quite a few mechs myself with C-bills... (pretends I do not have 6 shadowcats despite the fact there's only 4 alt.configs. in game)

I do not quite see how PGI ruined your whaling experience unless you are upset they do not do the bulk packages of mechs anymore of 4 different mechs for cheaper overall price... however quite a lot of people hated say... "buying 3x3 mechs they do not want just to get the assault they wan't" or what ever...

I do not quite know. PGI has to make money somehow and Mechpacks are the best option... if you are suggesting that you would prefer subscription or premium maps then well... I think PGI wants to still have a playerbase.

Just the Raven?

I mean I agree with you that it looks bad on the raven but what about other mechs that they equally damage?

Do you not think it looks like crap on the Crab too?
And the Locust?
I can't believe they couldn't give the Crab a proper CT laser...or a long laser barrel on the locust...

Its literally SACRILEGE how the lazy and awful implementation of "boxlazors" is ****** the otherwise very good looking artistic value Alex's mech designs.

The old hunchback wasn't ruined by freaking boxlazors... the head laser on that mech looks fine. why can't they put in the minimal time and effort to get a few styling cues right with the new mechs...no they have to cut corners every.. single.. chance.. they can.

[edit for clarity... i am referring to the head small laser and side torso tri-laser cluster on the hunchie not being ruined. they did put boxlazors in the hunch's actual hunch I know.]

Crab: I do not mind it at all: however I never liked the original concept to much and despite liking how MW: O one looks: I do not play it that often either.
Locust: well, it fits the art style of MW: O, as much as I want it to look at the original (which I do not... I swear those legs are thinner then a human leg and the MEDIUM LASER in the ct is longer then the damn legs)
Posted Image
But in all honesty I wish I could have an IS light or medium mech that can look like this locust but with a pair of PPC's...
Posted Image

However I do understand your comment on the whole hunchback situation. I think the reason they kept it like that is that it fit the general aesthetic of MW: O, however having medium lasers bigger then a Catapult K-2's ER PPC is not a desirable act... The reason why everything went "copy pasty" was the outburst the community had to ask for a degree of consistency in weapons.
Personally I sort off agreed.

But I think there should be a few models in rotation and stuff and in earlier MW games... ie: MW4... where 1 mechs LRM 20 is fired from a 3 tubed launcher while another mech it's a.... is that a machine gun that LRM 20 just fired from?.... and did that Templar just fire an AC 5 from it's SRM rack and pulse lasers?!

Posted Image

Those aside: there's lots of weapon inconsistency there and sure some weapons are made to look different on some mechs... but sometimes it's just weird.... would a circle laser or a stub look better on a Bushwacker then a cube? Idk.TBH the head laser bugs me a little bit on the hunchback... it's so tiny...

I do not know, to each there own. I know people out there who would wish the banshee in MW: O would look more like this... -shivers-
Posted Image
Or the kintaro like this...
Posted Image

Some people love the original, some love the MW3 or 4 re-do of it... some love the very odd shapes of MW2... others love Alex.
We see a wide range here as this is an ancient mech and a fan favourite in both TT, MW3, MW4, and potentially MW: O...
All look different. Some will love it, some will hate it. So far I am on the "I can deal with this <3" side... it isn't what I expected. I was thinking more MW4-y... but then again, I thought it would''ve been like that with the Kodiak as well... I miss that kodiak

Back in Feb I was name dropped, told "don't worry your mech is coming soon™" didn't even make the 90 days mark. It's now September it was mentioned again for sure you'll see it in 2017.

I'm like efff off I'm not going to believe **** till it has a buy button but at this point I'm even on the fence because I feel it's a cash grab and close shop mech.

Btw pretty sure you trolled in my MK II threads I'm not gonna check but my memory is pretty good.

Doubt it. I'd love the MK2. Fully customizable and the primary comes with a pair of my beloved gauss rifles.

I'm already missing the Bushwacker's concept art for MW3 and MW4. Current one simply gives a different vibe.

Seems like They are bound and determined to lose customers at this point. I wanted to get Maruader II's and would have but I saw the ED patch coming, and Most of the Marauders are energy based. That was the easiest NOPE ive ever seen.

yeah, listened to it on twitch. Phil pushing for respawns was rather annoying. I think even Daeron wanted to slap him.

I'll admit to being a bit disappointed with the Bushwacker, not with Alex's design as that looks excellent but I'd much rather have had one of the 3025 mechs that are still absent. We had a good run of them earlier this year and then a run of clan mechs so I was really hoping for something like the Crusader, Clint, Assassin, Wasp/Stinger, Valkyrie, etc and not a 3058 pseudo-clan mech.

don't forget the Maulers arms, the Rifleman, where it's not so much the box, but the 4 meter long box tube...for a small laser.

There are no true White Knights left. Just as I don't think we got any Black Knights left.

Just the apathetic masses, and the kool aid drinkers.

But Jumbo Packs were still a major blight to anyone but Pokemech collectors.

Respawns wouldn't be bad. They'd breathe new life into the PUG queue, that with a Living Legends style game mode based on tickets and multiple base capture and control points (which would constantly shift the game dynamics leading to a new experience every single time a map was played).

You don't need to respawn to do that, just large enough maps like Polar and playing on conquest do that just fine.

Basically like this game, he tries to play both sides of the fence and ends up alienating both sides.

So you think. Or as Daeron pointed out, it would drive even more players away, since many of us do not want to play respawns. Having Respawns in FW and none in QP is nice, because it allows both types of players their preferred style.

Believe it or not, there is a sizeable population who don't like respawns.

Nah but you do. The point of ticket based multipoint capture and hold is choosing different bases to respawn at, which drastically alters the game flow.

In MWO right now, if you look at activity heat maps, you'll see that players tend to congregate in select areas and approach from select directions. With ticket-based multipoint, all of a sudden those spawn locations are constantly changing, thus removing the "blob" effect. For example, say a map has points arranged as thus:

A B C D

E F G H

I J K L

and currently, (x is team A, o is team B), the board looks like:

X X O X

- O O X

O O X O

What you might find is folks respawning at G might attack B, D, H or K, while likewise, folks spawning at A might attack E or F, and folks spawning at K might opt to attack L or J instead of G.

You never know. And... the teammates never know where the rest are respawning at any given time, so the flow is often dynamic, the terrain being fought over is constantly different. "Samey" areas are avoided with frequency due to how the battlefield is always changing.

That kind of behavior is rarely replicated in no-respawn, whereas in multipoint respawn it would happen practically every single game.

Don't say many like you're an authority--you aren't, nor am I. I, myself, I -do- want respawn because I prefer game modes that reward intelligent thinking over go to point, fight blob and win.

One argument for respawn is it is faster--but is it? When you're dead, you're dead... thus more folks tend to rock hide. In respawn, you die, you get a new robit (as long as there are tickets), so keep going. Stomps still happen in respawn, the way they play, however, is -different-.

I wouldn't be surprised if the community was split on respawn. There's plenty here who played the older games which had it.
