Like, where have I been all these times?

If anything, shouldn't it be the other way around? A mauler MX90 can probably kill a thor, a bushwacker, and another 65 tonner.

So... either the lore is lying to us about how strong Clanners really are... or someone did f-up the lore when implementing.

(Cause, like... who the hell uses a Thor? It's like one of the rarest find in the game. Lots of Mx90 though.)

PS referring to the Bushwacker lore page btw. (Also, why does the whole passage read like it praises how a Thor, standing out in the open, managed to not die against 3 mechs from concealed position and scared them pants-less, rather than something about the Bushwacker?)

You need to read up on BT lore, and then do a search on what "game balance" means. ;)

THE SUMMONER OMNIMECH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEAT IN THE HANDS OF A TRUE WARRIOR! I SEE FEW OF THOSE HERE.

Probably wasting your time watching Star Trek, like a nerd, when you should have been watching Battletech the animated series.

Also, while the OP is potential bait, the whole article is based off the 90s cartoon. It's making fun of how the Thor never seemed to take critical damage in the show.

It did in the end... after a fist fight inside of it... and Malthus being touched with a power cable....

Melee combat cannot be implemented in MWO, so the AXEman is an easy target, save him for last.

The Bushwacker pilot foolishly put an XL engine in his IS mech which caused him to die after 2 well placed clan alphas to the ST

The Mauler gave the Thor quite a scare until he realized he was playing on the Oceanic servers from East Coast US.

Yea, I read the lore about how clanners are unstoppable (which, isn't quite true... if it really takes 3 to 1 to overtake clanner advantage, how come Victor dropped a coalition no where near that number and still annihilated the smoke jaguar?)

And regardless of how "advance" someone can be, if you are getting hit by depleted uranium, you are being hit by depleted uranium. doesn't matter if it's being fired from a battlemech or a civil war cannon. Clanners uses FF and XL engines... it's not like they are using blakchole fusion engine with gundam swords. besides, i failed to see how a mx90 can have enough weakness to exploit. I think the lore writers are slightly way over exaggerated on that part.

-----------

PS alistair, didn't the clanners in the cartoon like... lose quite a bit?

Hey, it's perfectly plausible that a star of clan mechs can take out 3 regiments of tanks in half a day.

In general terms, about 108 tanks not including command formations.

Before you reply, I was pointing out how ridiculous the early invasion lore is. There's plenty of instances of "Clan Fuzzy Bunny dropped onto a planet with their command star and wiped out the defenders within hours despite being overwhelmingly outnumbered."

If you are looking at it from a MWO perspective, Clanners can't win those kinds of odds, but from a TT perspective, yes, yes then can.

TT stats:

ERLL

Clan Heat: 12
IS Heat: 12
Clan Damage: 10
IS Damage: 8
Clan Range: 750m (25 Hexes)
IS Range: 570m (19 Hexes)
Clan weight: 4t
IS weight: 5t
Clan Crit Slots: 1
IS Crit Slots: 2

So just looking at those stats, the cERLL is 1.2 - 1.3 times better than the IS version in most cases, in TT a Timber Wolf is more than a fair match for a Banshee, but will in all likely capability be able to beat the ever loving hell out of an Atlas before the Atlas can bring off of it's weapons to bare on the Timber Wolf. 2 slot XL engines with 2 slot DHS were incredibility powerful, like game breaking powerful when they were introduced, along with 30%-50% longer ranged weapons, movement profiles of a mech class lighter and fire power of a mech class heavier made them just wreak things...

But for MWO, they had to be nerfed into the ground to not have a complete and totally overwhelming advantage.

I thought the lore (story) for the Bushwacker was just supposed to reflect a typical pug game:

A mauler standing away from the fight hitting with lrms ( I admit I have a build for this).
A scout medium standing stock still (our hero in this story).
And a 65 ton mech designed for brawling -running away.

Sounds about right to me.

This game isnt Mechwarrior or Battletech. MWO is PGI's Big Stompy Robit Game.

True jump-jets on the Thor in Battle Tech, LRM15's work. It's just not the same as the "please save us from this week's meta" crowd balancing MWO has. Battle Tech LRM15 would tear up an assault pretty fast and the Thor would be very mobile with using it. If that happened on MWO the whining would be deafening.

dumb major steiner and crew were running stock builds. they shoulda known better. they did not get destroyed however or the cartoon woulda been over. he was still fresh out of the academy to be fair.

they later min maxed their build and gave it another go and it went a lot better

Lore wise, Clan pilots tended to be better because of genetic engineering, plus their ERPPC was 15 points of PPFLD, and against lore armor values, that alone could take off the limbs of some mechs in 2 hits or less. Add in solid slugs for the cLBX-10s and the LRM-15 rack, a Summoner could pretty much tear up a single IS mech 1 on 1 with focused fire lore wise in a few rounds.
