But that being said, there's some legitimate reasoning for not using the original art in this game (or any BT/MW game), and that is...the mechanics of the different universes don't match up very well. Macross destroids and valkyries used typically 1-shot missiles, and small caliber beam guns, lasers, and auto cannons, and the mecha themselves were in the 20-40 ton range aside from the Monster (MAC II in robotech). The full missile payload of an armored valkyrie was something like 78 short range missiles and a half dozen large "hand grenades". Tomahawks (Excalibers in Robotech, Warhammers in BattleTech) carried two shoulder SRM launchers with flip up armored covers same as the Spartans (aka Gladiatior aka Archer), two gun clusters with 4 seperate barrels/weapons each, a twin MG mount in the head, and a 6-shot AA missile launcher on the right shoulder. Spartans had a single gun cluster under an armored housing in the center block of the torso, and a twin barrel AA laser turret for the "head". Glaugs (aka Officer's battle pod...aka Marauders) mounted a heavy electron beam particle gun on the top center, had 6 dogfight Maggot missiles in individual launch tubes (3 down each cheek), 2 chin auto-cannons, two multi-barrel particle beam guns in the upper forearm pods, two impact guns in the lower barrels of the pods. Defenders has 78mm twin-barrel autocannon arms and no secondary weapons. In other words, the designers pretty much would have to make art for all the other weapons one could build their battlemechs with, which didn't "fit" with the original macross art at all, so... might as well make whole new art that only bears a passing similiarity to the originals.
Now as to the Bushwacker and its artwork....well...the hero looks ok, the basic camo is well, like most mechs...rather plain...but the Special for the collector's pack.... barely any difference to the regular basic camo. The Marauder IIC had a similar non-descript special camo other than echoing the colors of the original 3055 TRO artwork. The last GOOD Special camo was that of the Linebacker. Did PGI lose their best graphic artist in the past few months or something? I won't be buying the collector pack of the bushwacker simply because of the lackluster camo effort of the special. I did buy the collector versions of the Kodiak, Cyclops, Night Gyr, and Linebackers BECAUSE of the effort put into the camo/colors of their Specials.

*** Having said that, all the Mechs in the bundle come with an XL 275 engine and double heat-sinks already as upgrades. Half of them have endo-steel and the other half have ferro... so that may have factored into the bundle offer. ***
Just being fair and open-minded.
well yes, but...
MAD-IIC comes with Endo, and Ferro and Double and modules and an additional variant as early adopter.
That makes that XL engines and two decals look a bit tiny. I think with the next releases, the early adopter stuff must be stocked up again.

I would guess that's why they're not giving them away for pre-orders in their unnerfed state. Pre-orderers may claim "false advertising" when the module nerf occurs.

Even the combination of Mech+Weapon Module (in exchange for a decal) i the MAR-IIC package was a downgrade. But the incentive to spend real money and/or early for this package is really damped... A pity.
Also, why this plain vanilla? PGI invents new variants, then at least the ability to mount JJ or MASC or ECM could be included in (at least one of) these variants - or even the basic package.
Was really eager for the Bushwacker, but this is 'meh'.

Don't like Bushwaker and I won't sponsor PGI's serious lack of development anymore

Do i like the Bushwacker?
Yes, always have.
Recall value?
Yes, close to the original, more close than other mechs.
ECM? Jump Jets?
No, but the originals had no either, so its fine.
Decals for Modules?
Sure, why not. Unless they are mastered my mechs never get modules and unless than, i earned the c-bills to buy them.
Weapons and Hardpoints?
I like missiles and ballistic and i give a **** to the positions.
Buy?
Yes, asap, the standart pack with hero an reinforcements at least, maybe the full package.

The upgrades look great for an IS pack - not perfect but hugely better than most past offerings, all DHS, most endo, some ff. It looks very XL friendly but those hitboxes could get painful and lowish arms with ballistic/missile points are horrible.
More worried that in terms of IS 55 tonners we already have the griffin and shadowhawk at that weight and those are essentially dead in tier 1 Euro TZ solo queue except a very rare sighting, but have better hardpoints. Are they seen more in CW as i dont play it?
I suppose the hardpoints don't excite me as I'm just personally not a fan of ballistic + missile builds. I also worry as I might as well run a Catapult at just 5 tons more if I want to fill the missile role or the griffin or even my Loup de Guerre. The lack of ECM, Jump jets, MASC is painful in modern mediums unless they have amazing hardpoints like the Blackjack.
I'll get it as I love my mediums as everyone raged about the PXH's and I surprised myself by really liking a lot of them... but then I'm weird.

Sold!
So it's going to be tough to kill what with Crab hitboxes and when you put on the STD engines...
So a slightly heavier centurion AH? except that it can't use an AC20....
