Finally a manouverable light mech. Not that the others are slow, but they aren't made just for the speed itself, unlike Spider.

Also, who should this mech belong to? Marik produces them, but only for export to the Draconis Combine.

Spider specs

SDR-5V - Two CT energy hard points.

SDR-5D - One CT energy hard point, One LA energy hard point.

SDR-5K - One CT energy hard point, One RA and one LA Ballistic hard point. Minus 60 meters of JJ's (6 hexes vs 8).

Seems a bit limited but could work.

Edit; "Limited", /snort, /giggle

Devs - Could we get a Missile hard point on one of the 5K's arms? Not canon but you can't even replace the MGs with an AC/2 and one ton of ammo.

Made a seriously fugly mech look fantastic, as usual.

While it may seem limited in role, I bet this one is the most maneuverable, fastest torso twister in the game.

The curious trend: Jagermech=>Rifleman, Spider=>Wasp/Stinger. What's next?

Wow! Another great redesign that still honors the old one. Love it! Yet to disappoint me.I really like the skinny profile it will have.

Where do you pull this kinda info from, I'd like to look this sorta stuff up on others.

Well. There's salvage, not to mention the black market.

Looks amazing! Much better than the TRO, but why would I choose this (besides looks) over a Jenner which has way more weapons besides the minor speed bump.

I was just playing with this vs the Jenner in an online customization utility (designed for TT). It looks like the main thing is the Spider has the option to go faster if you want, and a smaller profile - along with the advantage of having the weapons in the center torso. You will have those pretty much as long as your mech is alive, while the Jenner has a missile mount in the CT but its lasers are exposed on the arms.

For its side, the Jenner can back more armor and has a higher number of weapon hardpoints available (at least comparing stock versions) but the extra tonnage means you need a bigger engine to get to the same speed - and the higher weight engine removes almost any advantage it would have had in terms of room for more weapons... at least at the high end of the speed spectrum.

I would take the Spider if you want pure speed, or the Jenner if you want a mix of speed and firepower. Presumably the Raven will be better for electronics warfare (though we have yet to see any hard details on modules, etc) and the Commando could go faster yet if you wanted - but doesn't jump.

Not bad. I'm not as psyched for this as I was for the other announcements, but it's nice to see the lights are just about done. Kinda saw this one coming, honestly . . .

I was really hoping for something more iconic like the Panther.

The lighter 'Mechs have better engine to weight ratios- the Standard 240 for the Spider already means it outspeeds the 245 a Jenner carries by a fair margin with less engine weight, as the advantage grows the more speed you're trying to squeeze from a chassis. I figure you could manage nearly 200kph with something like that, and it has the highest jump capacity of all the designs shown, by far- nearly double that of a Jenner. Even the artwork points to a design built for maximum agility in poor terrain, and the more humanoid (and smaller!) shape means it'll be tougher to land a hit than it would on the broader Jenner.
