pretty sure that the "light up stomach" is simply the red fiberglass sealant in the mech's torso reflecting the light from the laser, not some custom low rider LEDs, lol.

I could be wrong, but would feel safe betting I am not.

nah, it's not low rider LED's. for that it would have to be a heavy or assault mech. A true low rider is always made from the big cars

I was expecting an assault, but in the event of a light I expected to see a Spider. Gotta say I like the look.

A fine choice for city fighting where those insane jump jets allow you to hop obstacles others must plod around.  Similarly for badlands and other broken terrain.  But definitely the wrong weapons load out any battlefield with real lines of sight.  At that point, you are almost always better off giving up the weapons in exchange for communications gear and an ECM suite, relying on the rest of your lance to provide ballistics from afar.
In either event, you never have to concern yourself with heat, or depleted ammo supplies.

The itsy-Bitsy Spider,
Cut holes in the Altas' Back,
Down came the rain,
But the spider was long gone!

:P

I have two things to say:

1- This is easily one of the very best redesigned art pieces for MWO. The new Spider looks familiar and recognizable but lost all it's uglier qualities, leaving it feeling updated and awesome.

2- I hope the 'mech can live up to the art. As it stands, it seems to have no role whatsoever that's not already filled by other 'mechs in it's general weight range. Given the variant options are fairly limited, even if extra hard points are added I'm really not sure what the Spider can offer me that others can't.

Anyway I hope 2 is a pointless concern. It's an awesome looking 'mech and it's one I've always liked in TT (and MPBT3025), so it's cool to see it here.

I used to pilot one of these sometimes, its a great mech for my grasshoper alphastriker style of gameplay. A little concerned it's in the game though. I thought they were doing a pretty good job of selecting mechs with spread weapon loadouts (other than the swayback). Perhaps this is a good sign though, that they're comfortable enough with the game's mechanics that alpha striking laser boats aren't as much of an issue to balance.

Remind them that they didn't respond in old english (which if you've ever heard it is nigh almost indecipherable).

I can't wait for the Zeus either. Good solid mech with good long and medium firepower.

This makes a lot more sense than Cicada (the pointless mech)

Not one of my favorite Battlemechs, but that is one sweet looking 'Mech. I wonder how many people will try to use the -5K to turn into an Urbanmech.

Is it bad that I'm enjoying all of the 'but it isn't an Urbanmech' posts. :D

Love the redesign, proves that so far they can't go wrong in how they bring the mechs alive in the game. With a half ton less armor and minus the sm laser the Spider gives you the same performance as the Cicada, but with JJ's.

Spider Mech!
Spider Mech!
Does whatever a spider mech does!
can he swing from a web?
No he can't
He's a mech!
Lookout!
Here comes the spider mech!!

The spider is my favorite light, because it goes to the limit of what a light chassis offers, instead of trying to do something heavier mechs do better.

Well you wouldn't want just one mech fulfilling the same role all the time, having multiple mech chassis filling each role will give graphical diversity on the field, so our scout lance isn't all jenners or ravens etc etc. Give people the choice, the people like this ;-)
