OPINIONS vary on how things are in this game, whether it's lore, immersion, combat balance, etc etc. Better is a pretty vague word to use without more context.

I'm finally at a place where I no longer care.
Split the game into two iterations. IS vs IS only and Clan vs Clan only.
There!
Remove the quirks and unlock all mechs.

What happens when you take away the Clans from Mechwarrior? It's no longer Mechwarrior.

I guess OP just came to complain about getting killed by a clammer, so nothing else to see here.

For as much bitching as people do, this is still fun to play and care about.

Everyone can own both clan and is mechs, but If you ware dropping in the QP you you will drop in the QUE with the techbase you are dropping in.
From here you could then focust on balancing CW in unique ways, 12 v 10 may CW more of a IS is defending a fortress type thing with extra support turretts and auxially craft.
But Alas the time for to happen is long gone.

Besides, 1/2 the reason I play the game is to shoot at clan mechs and for the rare joy of actually killing them (its rare for me because I am a terribad player, but I still try).

Sounds balanced to me.

Oh, that is completely untrue. Battletech was a much, much better game before they wrecked it with the clans. So was this game.
Fourth Succession War forever.

Removing the Clan tech wouldn't make MWO better.
Removing the technicians at PGI who were responsible for the following mechanics and removing or restoring as appropriate would do something good for the game:
- Firing rates of 3-19 times tabletop at full damage/heat ratings.
- The "Skillz" tree.
- "Rising Mech-Heat threshold".... something that has never existed in any Mechwarrior or Battletech game in the nearly 40 year history of the franchise.
- Removal of heat-induced crit damage (Jan patch, 2013) in favor of Override system and physical damage. No longer can heatsinks melt, making thermal abuse so much easier to do thanks to PGI removing this key feature which kept so much ******** under check.
