You already have inside information that the hero Warhawk will have no quirks? Then share with the community, please. I would highly doubt that, especially since the hardpoint layout on the hero Warhawk suggests it's leaning towards ballistics/energy.

And I have to apologize: when talking about the Stormcrow, I should have been more specific. I was referring to medium-range DPS builds, which gauss vomits are not, and will never be, but UAC vomits are.

Bottom line is, so far I've been very respectful and supportive of PGI's financial policy. I started out as a FTP player, bought my first MC package soon thereafter because I needed mechbays, recently purchased my first mechpack - not because I needed it, I could have easily waited for the Night Gyr C-Bill release in January, but because I felt that time had come to say "thank you" to PGI for creating this game and letting me play it in the way I wanted it. But now I have finally run into this disgusting paywall, with the builds I'm interested in locked behind it, and yes, I am really, really pissed off about it. Or maybe I just don't like feeling like a second-class citizen player. I don't mind PGI selling CTs with 30% C-Bill boost for real money, this is perfectly in the spirit of Free-to-Play. But unique omnipods... it's just wrong, plain wrong.

Mechs do look nice, but they should have taken Joannas Summoner and not Aidan Prydes Summoner.

Spoiler Alert:
Or it should have been Aidans Timberwolf, in which he died! Also: Direwolf? Should have been Natasha Kerensky - in which she died due to Joanna ;)

A Smoke Jaguar Summoner would have been an instant buy for me. I am quite interested about that additional LT-Energie Hardpoint though!

The Mechs do look great!

I'm unhappy with this. The hero omnipods are quite different than IS hero mechs. I already own the steam DWF, TBR and SCR with c-bills bonus and all I need is just 1-2 omnipods. Can't say that it's a fraud but it's close to borderline.

The Wave 1 Clan Hero FAQ conveys this information as well, but with the announcement of the Clan Heroes comes another eligibility component for the 2016 Appreciation Program.
Acquiring any one of these Hero 'Mechs prior to the deadline would qualify you for the base Clan Reward.
Acquiring any six would qualify you for the Top-Tier Clan Reward.

2017 qualifier after October?

So how does the hero Warhawk not come with a targeting computer? Sure, technically the targeting computer can't be fixed equipment, but every canon Warhawk has one!

I'll give PGI credit for making the Dire Wolf the Clan Smoke Jaguar hero, as well as making the Summoner Aidan Pryde's. Aidan Pryde was always a good pilot and most of his success was in the Summoner. The Dire Wolf is an iconic Clan Smoke Jaguar 'mech. Although the Wolves designed it first, the Jaguars built it first, and they used it liberally.

I think it's funny that they gave crazy Brett Andrews the Kit Fox. I could see him driving one!

The C-bill bonus will be attributed to the CT, right?
All clan hero mechs and cbill bonus mechs work that way. Viper, Night Gyr, Loyalty mechs, pack prime mechs.

It's pretty well established that it's a CT bonus.

it says mech pack. wave 1,2,3 where real mech packs. this is 8 single mechs for top $$$.
next time you call it a mech pack, show me the beef.
No reason to pre-order, either.

*rant rant rant eat rat rant rant*

where is a new clan light to deal with locusts ? with snotling inner galaxy pests and gnatzes ?

*swings the blaster*

why in the name of order is the centurion base paint Job so botched after the redesign ? no army would paint that on their mechs, same with zeus basic pain-hjob.

*rams axe in a centurion model*

ugly ugly ugly

where are the new maps ? where is forest colony old ? frozen city old ? urban warfare large map ? UrbanMech IIC ?

Worthless pre-order bonuses.
P2W omnipods.

It's a new low, frankly.

Its not pay to win dude. If it were the mechs would do 100% bonus damage, would have 100% more armor protection inside and out, 100%bonus speed, 360 degree torso twist and place any weapon any where in any location no hard point restrictions. How are they any different than the Medusa and any other hero mech. my Dire Wolf has just as much chance to take out this hero Dire Wolfe as he dos against me.

Pay to win is to buy items that give you an unfair advantage over other players. all the hero mechs will be added to the MC list in time. so get over you this game is pay to win. I have spent a lot of money on this game buying mech packs and not a single one has given me a unfair advantage over the other players.

well, all the kit fox pilots will be happy, seeing as how they can now have weapons more useful than MGs in their side torsos instead of their arms.

Unique Hardpoints Omnipods for Clan Heroes:
A little research about the Clan Heroes summarized in a list that disregards everything but the hardpoints, ignoring JJs, quirks and stuff like that (There are no heroes with ECM/MASC btw), and even Lore, cause it's almost weekend and I ran out of subbtletity cheesecrackers.
Here we go!

ADR: LT/RT 1B, making a 4B loadout possible.. if you like dying hard.
KFX: LT/RT 2E, doubling its max E-loadout to a total of 8E. Or try 7E+ECM, so this looks like the most useful one to me.

SCR: LT 1AMS, RA 1B1E, so unless you really like dual AMS, it's just addin a 2nd available Ballistic.
NVA: LA 2M, LT 2E, usefull missile addition, and it's breaking its own record of Most Energy Hardpoints with 15E max!

TBR: LA 1B, yay, first 'Mech to have ballistics in ALL OF ITS COMPONENTS! Except legs...
SMN: LA 2B, LT 1E, whoopdif#ckindoo. (although this guy's also getting some additional points from the Loyalty ones, no?)

WHK: LA 3E, RA 2B, well, ok, it's 1E more and 1B more.. I guess..
DW: LA/RA 2B, well now, 8 ballistics! I wonder.. would 8xLB-2X be possible?? EDIT: Well, it is! And you've even got about 30 tons left for nuisances like ammo and armor. Heck, with enough balls you could even fit 8xUAC5!

Hero CTs and stuff:
As the CBill bonus comes from the CT, a small analysis of those as well.
Interestingly none of them have something unique in the CT, making some hero CTs potentially inferior as baseline building block:

ADR/KFX/SMN/SCR/NVA are all the same as CBill variants, but;
TBR has CTs with 1B and 1E for CBills
WHK has CTs with 1M and 1E for CBills
DW has CTs with 1E and 2E for CBills (granted, 1M is better than having nothing)

So for those 3, not all your favourie builds might be possible on the Hero CT.

In conclusing, not that much P2W here, nothing has really outstanding perks like ECM, so just some cool-looking paintjobs and a few new pods ranging from "Hmm, I wonder what happens if I pull the Alpha-trigger? HOLY SH*T!" to "I should've spent my $$ on things that matter, like some beers and a pizza, or perhaps a really, really cheap BJ in a badly lit alley".

(BTW, I'm interpreting 'unique' - don't pint me down on that sh*t - as 'adding something new', so for example the 1B KFX arms are obsoleted by the freely available 2B and 1B1E arms so aren't listed...)

Not sure about this. I think it is great that Clan heroes are coming out. I also like the skins, but after that I am just left with an empty feeling. Some of that is because with Omni-Mechs there doesn't seem to be anything unique about having a hero mech other than the camo/paint. Without knowing the quirks I have to assume they will be the same or similar to the other variants have, so I am not sure why I would bother getting them early or if at all.

The next thing for me that I don't really like is there are a lot of lore choices for each of these chassis, but PGI felt the need to make some up and even avoid fan favorites.

Lastly there does not seem to be any incentive to get these early. When I look at the pricing it looks like full price for a hero mech to me. If there is no deal why would I not wait for a while and get them when they go on sale for some future event? Or why would I not wait until they are packaged in a mastery pack of some type? The only reason not to wait would be so I can have them first.

Considering I dropped a lot of cash on Clan Waves 1 thru 3 and having them early wasn't that big of a deal to me, I am in the why bother with this state of mind.

I apologize for my negative thoughts, but buying these now will most likely be a waste of money. Wait for a real sale then get one. Benefit of doing this is you will know what you are getting. Because we all know that each of these will end up being configured just like our current non heros of the same chassis type. At least that is what clan omni-tech has turned into for me. Find a build I like, duplicate it on all the other variants, level the same mech three or more times. What fun.

I would *hate* to be forced to use one targeting computer when I wanted to use another... What if the its an energy boat and the TC is a fixed TC1 but I have one ton and an extra slot so I could have had a TC2? or what if it came with a TC5 and I needed those tons/slots for other stuff?

nope, I'm happy the TC ain't fixed.

You are wrong.

With these cash-only omnipods, only players who spend cash will be able to create OminMechs whose performance is better than non-cash Mechs.

The devil is in the detail of how the omnipods can be mixed and matched. These cash-only pods enable, for example, a Timberwolf that has more pod space than any other non-cash Timberwolf, and a Timberwolf that can now equip more ballistics than any other.

Etc.

Me too. And I believe PGI has previously done a good job of ensuring Hero Mechs aren't the most powerful Mech in the stable, thereby avoiding P2W.

I supposed it can be argued that the Black Widow is an example of P2W, in that it is a pay-to-play Hero Mech better than F2P equivalents. Perhaps also the Oxide. However, these are Mechs which have fixed loadouts and which have and will be subjected to balancing.

The problem with cash-only omnipods is that they can be re-used across OmniMechs to continually min-max in ways that F2P players will never be able to do. To me that fact makes them a further dangerous new step in the direction of P2W.
