According to multiple game statistic websites including Steam, MWO player populations have been at an all time low, that and playing Faction Warfare is a great indication as well. Though it hasn't always been like this.

What would it take to get former long time regular players back into MWO?

New weapons and content? (Other then Mech Packs, or Map Remakes)

Maybe a advancement in the timeline to introduce new favorite mechs and weapons?

New game engine and general game polish to include more player immersion?

Better community communication?

What are your thoughts?

Everything MW4 had and MWO doesn't, but with better graphics.

Wish I was kidding.

That ship has probably sailed (to the island).

Too little, too late...

Direction.

We can quote a million "I wants" and "what ifs".

All that is shortsighted, myopic and selfish crap.

Not a damn one matters. What does, is the "Leadership" showing they actually have a clue, and a plan, and the balls to stick to it. I don't care if it Esports, an enhanced, Immersive FW, Solaris, PvE. None of that matters if it's haphazard and halfass and subject to change on a whim.

A PGI with a Plan, and the Intestinal Fortitude to actually stick to it and deliver?

THAT would bring me back.

Sounds great, yet completely out of character.

People don't change for the most part.

Gold island cockpit item that gives you a 5% C-Bill boost.

Nah jk, i'm with Bishop on the PGI with a plan that actually follows through. But i will add if it only means changes the community overwhelmingly has a positive reaction to and kills ED.

never said they would.

I was asked what would bring me back.

THAT would. Because GIVEN their past outings, everything else offered would be halfassed, and abandoned the moment anyone complained. Success requires perseverance. If they aren't willing to put it in, then they might as well pull the plug, or sell the game, now.

Is it scary, or just plain sad that I'd actually agree that's an improvement? Posted Image

Here's the thing for me. I work remotely 5-6 months of the year with no or minimal internet. In May I left for work and got back in late September. Almost 5 months later, and the game hadn't evoked or changed at all besides a rescale. The meta was still the same, modes the same. No Ballance adjustments. Just the same stagnant game with more mechs.

This game is just pokemech at this point. There will be no miracle mode or overall Ballance change. There's no direction. Just maintaining the server's and selling packs until their next project (in progress) can keep them going.

I figure maybe 2 years and MWO will be dead. And it'll be the same as today, just with Ghost heat 2.0, and it'll have never been updated since a half thought out release.

*Edit:. Forgot to finish my thought. So why would gamers come back to a game that won't be improving?

The question was what would bring people back - This would would send me running for the hills.

Though not the firing Paul part, because I like that and admittedly just about anyone else would be an 'improvement'... But hiring Bandito to replace him? ... You would think the direction of the game thus far (Read lack thereof) would be derision enough for me, but Mr. Bandito would likely take it in one I'd have issue with, despite finally making headway toward actual goals.

Unless he's part of a team comprised of people that generate valid ideas, don't readily or easily agree with one another and dont degenerate into 'Yes Men' the moment Russ enters the room and pitches an idea tantamount to intercourse with a backwards-facing pinecone.

How about "content" that is not new mechs? Like PvE, a campaign, more immersive fluff, goals to work for that give you an actual reason to play?

Yeah thats what I would guess, well then until in 4 weeks when I check back again if any new content was released....

You know what they say--If you try to please everyone, you will end up pleasing no one. Dunno what is the issue you have in particular though. The moment Russ offers a silly idea in my balancing department, he can kiss my arse and fire me. At least I would be left with "managerial work experience in gaming company", in my resume. :P

Since this topic is pretty much the same as this topic I'm going to copy paste.

Long Term Goals - Basically I need PGI to say we are doing these and it's our FOCUS.
  • Engine has been at its limits since closed beta - New Engine (Show me you have faith in your product)
  • Match Replay
  • Stand Alone Offline PVE with online features - We need new revenue streams other than mechs
  • Solaris

Once these have been established we can then turn on FW again adding depth by using PVE assets. Using A.I. to fill slow times and ghost drops. Pilot development that starts in PVE and endgame becomes FW. This helps new users learn the game before becoming fodder.

Short term - I'll spend money and play again but back to my usual off and on spurts and you won't gain back my full support until long term goals are announced.

bin here since the day the game went to open beta testing (far as im concerned its still in beta), havent patched in 8 or so months and as it stands now probably wont anytime soon if ever.

this ship has made its bed now they are laying in it.

to answer the question though, if they took mw2, 3, 4 and put them all together then i may consider looking playing again.

just look at this asinine power draw thing its on pts 5 now? lol? i cant help but think of that guys signature with the donkey face that says "PGI - we really know what were doing"

8 Player matches.

Higher TTK

New maps

Better MM

Just a few things, the list would be extensive though id imagine!

Edit: Maybe more Devs and Russ responding on the forums instead of Twitbager! Make the community feel like its involed in the games development.

In Russ's case he is trying to please no one (but himself) and so far is exceeding beyond his wildest expectations.

I'm too disappointed in their performance overall to ever convert back to a spender, which is what we are really talking about. Coming back as a non-spender makes little to no difference to PGIs bottom line, so they'd have to find a way to convert me to a spender which I'm thinking is going to be next to impossible.

As it is, I'm currently trying to come up with creative ways to spend all my c-bills since I have a limited number of mechbays, many of which were free and I don't like selling off mechs to open slots.

Maybe I could buy all the arty in the world?

MWO is not what I expected of a MechWarrior game it is very shallow in its design as far as game content like game modes or player achievements the mechs die to quickly so for a new player the object is to live and learn but the game does not give you the time to do it.

There is no Good Social aspect to MWO I remember listening to my dad and uncle play MechWarrior4 on the MSN game zone laughing and chatting to players all over the world I was like 7 and they let me play in some cool battles in the lobby rooms that is what hooked me on giving MWO a try but I soon found out this game really sucks compared to my earlier experiences with MechWarrio4.

If MWO mechs and game played like MechWarrior4 Mercenaries did and had all the Social aspects that game had plus some good old PVE with Co-op play I might come back and try MWO again but its hard to like a game that actually turns away people that want to play games as friends other than pay for it like the private play does.

I still play MechWarrior4 Vengeance and MechWarrior4 Mercenaries on a private IP family server my uncle runs and we can play for hours laugh chat and have fun. It might not have the fancy sound or graphics MWO has but it has something better just good old plain fun stomping around in mechs that take a lot of damage and are easy to control and everyone just enjoying there game play.
