True. I'm having more and more doubts about this thing's viability now. I still maintain that the Nova needs to be rescaled larger and nerfed a little bit. But that's just me.

Eh. The Hunchback IIC doesn't seem to suffer from it. At least nothing I've noticed fighting vs and with them, as I don't personally own a IIC. Pre-rescale Nova was one size larger than its current archetype, however, and it never felt restricting. Not with that many jump jets.

so when do you want to start the posts and tweets about not quirking the newer clan mechs that need some quirks; Viper, Huntsman, Night Gyr?

Probably won't be larger - digitigrade legs seem to be designed for mobility, and it's skinny so it looks like it can pounce off the line fairly quickly. We'll find out in a week

edit: Actually, let's wait until the scale comparison before we jump to any conclusions

Where does this mech look like it will surpass the HBK-IIC? Can't laser vomit better, can't dual ER PPC better, can't brawl better (4 SRM6 w/art and 95 kph is perfect), in fact, I think the ONLY thing this can do better than the HBK-IIC, is run Gauss and ER MLs, the HBK-IIC surpasses it in every other way! I believed you when you said it would be good! You lied! Call Sean Hannity! Nobody wants to talk to Sean Hannity, Sean Hannity will tell you, CALL HIM NOW!

so you are saying a mech with 9 E, 8 M and 5 B and all high located....is not good?

are you a tryhard or a tryTard?

or a trollhard, since you say 4srm6 is better than 6aSRM6, or 4+4srm4.

Compared to the crow and HBK-IIC with zero quirks ... its an improvement.

So they came up with a badge that had an identical title to one already released, and now there's a "-3% UAC Jam Chance" quirk, which surely has to be a mistake.

And you wonder why people make jokes about PGI having no QA team.

Like seriously, all you'd have to do is read over the post one time and see "UAC Jam Chance.......three.....percent?? hmm that doesn't seem right...."

So they've got extremely minimal quirks, and are implementing the "Set-Of-8" rule yet again.
The minimal quirks I'm ok with, because this mech will still do well without quirks, based solely on the available hardpoints (missiles missiles missiles). My guess is any needed structure/armor quirks will come after the comity plays the mech for a while (much like people discovering that the PXH's arms needed serious quirks).

Set of 8 quirks.......eugh. Whyyyyyyy?

Bearing in mind, last round of ED we were testing, we had no quirks for any mech so I wouldn't be surprised if 8/8 is the future down the road. That or a total re-quirking. ;)

The Night Gyr does NOT need better quirks, as its currently in a great place, so I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic there. Has some downsides but has superb upsides in most variants which heavily outweigh them.

The Viper could do with some structure quirks I do concede but I still find it great fun if played as a harasser.

I think this mech will fall some where in the middle of the road for the medium class. It will be a very nice missile brawler/LRM mech .Unfortunately that limits most of its usefulness on half the maps till the brawl part of the fight. HBK 2c will still be a better laser vomit or ballistic mech and the nova a better assassin mech. What makes me sad is if you want to do missile brawling you need to purchase at least the main pack and reinforcement or hero pack and for the optimum missile builds u will need all 3 packs.

I really see it mostly being used as a mid-to-long range skirmisher. Anyone trying to brawl with the thing is going to find out fairly quickly it really isn't meant for that role, and will probably get its metallic butt kicked trying to do so against Mechs in its own weight class that are, at least until pilots get used to its chassis, of course.

Anything with the potential for eight ASRM launchers and enough ammo to feed them is automatically disqualified from being 'bad at brawling' in my eyes. It may not be an S-class Supah Champ, dependent on hitboxes, but when you have three times the firepower of your nearest competitor...well. There's something to be said for that. Especially in the medium bracket.

I'm afraid that the severe advantage of having only 97% of the usual, lemme guess, 15%(?) UAC jam chance will make this beauty the cause of the next community outrage. And righteously so! Because that would mean it's actually 0,45% LOWER than usual and thus leaves it at mindboggling 14,45%.

ONLY.

PS: I repeatedly tried to use caps for the numbers to make a point, didn't work out somehow...

In the absence of clarification, I reported the OP to moderation so hopefully someone from the inside will tell us about the 3% value.

Is is a 3% reduction in jam chance?
Is is a subtraction of 3 from the jam chance % number?
Is it a typo?

The question is better sent to PGI Support at general@mwomercs.com . The moderation report system is for reporting Code of Conduct violations on the forums, and otherwise has several layers between here and there. Nevertheless, I've forwarded it along.

9E all high located? You mean there are 9 energy hardpoints in the side torsos? Where? Which variant? What kind of dakka are you going to run on this medium with those 5 high ballistic hardpoints? Machine guns?

My competitive experience tells me this mech is not going to replace the HBK-IIC, despite your musings and theory crafting. I'm trying to decide if the 6x SRM6 w/Art is going to be viable.. sounds hot and/or light on ammo.

You mean there is a tradeoff? Wow, truly ground breaking revelation. Posted Image

You guys aren't reading the context of my posts. I was NOT saying "The Stormcrow is better because it has a 17 kph speed advantage". I DID point out that the Huntsman isn't 5 tons lighter with jump jets for free as an earlier poster suggested.

Sorry folks, the listing of the HMN-C UAC Jam Chance Quirk at -3% was an error. The UAC Jam Chance Quirk is actually -15%.

The Quirk image has been updated to reflect this.
