My only problem with this my friend is how do we know we're not poisoning the well? By that I mean, continuing to propagate to the new players the sins of the past...
There's times when I feel like way too many new players are simply parroting the derision we spew... Might they actually enjoyed the game, warts and all if we were not the constant voice of discontentment?
I dunno... My life credo is "Be part of the solution and not the problem" and as of late... I feel like we're becoming part of the problem.
Being part of the solution is always the best part. However you really need to ask what is the "question" we need a solution too?
You, like me and a great many others who have been around here since the beginning and even some who came later, can recognize that the so called bitter vets are created. Created by PGI's broken promises, missed deadlines and outright failed game modes (looking at CW). The solution to the creation of bitter vets is to get PGI to change, to actually deliver on their own ideas, let alone anyone else's. Sitting here blowing ******** up their bum saying "all is well, carry on", will only deliver more of what we have had and in turn create a new generation of bitter vets.
The problem is PGI and their attitude, or more precisely their managements attitude towards their players and their own goals. It's not even about what we want as players anymore, it's about getting PGI to live up to their own proposals and ideas.
If all the bitter vets quit the forums tomorrow never to return, I'd bet within the 2 weeks after mechcon there will be a new bunch of bitter vets, and half of them will be the ones who were singing PGI's praises today.
I don't consider myself a bitter vet, but I am an extremely disappointed one. What I want is a reason to come and play (CW). Endless death match is not it for me, I was over that when Doom was a wee lad.
