The KDK-3 needs to lose its quirks, and then lets take a look at the effect of the UAC changes. That is all I am advocating.

oooooor, we could simply nerf the two OP builds on the Kdk-3 a little and keep it otherwise viable.
Yeah nerf the two builds in question while the third build that I use 2CUAC5, 2CUAC10, and 2CMPL continue to shred armor. There could be other builds that could be spreading misery and grief. Nerfing a particular build doesn't make sense to me.

Then why are there so many examples of people saying that KDKs can be beat? Are these people just lucky to beat a KDK or is the understanding of how to play this game their advantage.

Knee-jerk balance changes are not cool, as you've probably seen from numerous other mechs which were once good but are not rubbish.

Its ridiculousness needs reigning in for balance reasons. If you think its not OP, then you shouldn't be complaining because you can just hop in your other assault mechs and rake in the same consistent match scores, right?

The two best Kodiak 3 builds are:
1. 2 uac10, 2 uac5
2. 2 gauss, 2 erppc
By reducing the number of available slots in each side torso by 5, the uac build is forced to either run a standard engine, use smaller ballistics such as 2uac5+2uac2, or use a combination of ballistic and energy weapons.
The gauss+ppc build would similarly require a standard engine.
I find it funny when people talk about quirks on the Kodiak. The WIN for the kodiak are the placement of the weapons on the torso! You don't have to show much mech to bring your full firepower to bear.
BTW OP, I use 4 UAC5 on my KDK3 and it keeps up with the 2xUac10 + 2xUac5 builds just fine because the 4xUac5 build has no heat issues with sustained fire -- so your change wouldn't help.

Let's start with 100% energy cooldown for the SDR-5V, +50 armor to everywhere for the MLX, +400% MG ROF for the PNT-10P, and 60% ballistic cooldown for the VND-1X.

Rarely see the 4, though I love mine and actually use it to counter the 3's out there.

Any mech CAN be beat. This is a team game. Just because a Mist Lynx finishes off a Kodiak with a couple shots from an ER PPC doesn't mean that the Mist Lynx and Kodiak are balanced with each other. Then doesn't alter the inherent advantages of the mech.
Compare the KDK-3 to a Dire Wolf... Kodiak: 70 kph, amazing hardpoints, 2 UAC10s + 2 UAC5s, Structure quirks, 70 degree torso arc
Dire Wolf: 52 kph, decent hardpoints, 2 UAC10s + 3 UAC5s, no structure quirks, 60 degree torso arc. Which one is better?
You can make the same comparison with ER PPC+Gauss.
You can't say "Oh its been beat therefore its balanced", because that leaves out virtually all the details of the engagement. You might be mistaking my saying that the KDK-3 is the best mech in the game means that I find it unbeatable. That is far from the truth, but it certainly makes the game much easier to play, and makes 1000 damage games come very easily.

The Sprit Bear is a good brawler, but the AS7-S is still the better brawler, its just slower so in the disorder of the public queue its harder to play. But... as far as overall capability, the Spirit Bear is no KDK-3.

Actually, my change (if it was somehow possible) would force even the 4 uac5 build to run a standard engine because there would be one slot to few in the side torso. But we have already established that my suggested change is impossible with the way clan battlemechs work in this game.

As for the UAC change, I'm not sure, I think the game would be better served if they simply moved the Kodiak-3s ballistics down a bit so the mech has to expose more of it's self.
