1. Crabs are crap, and I was right to leave them sitting around unleveled

2. The sphere has no answer for streakboats and SL Nova's

3. The Inner Sphere lights are completely dead

FTFY

1) Crabs are decent, when used as standard engine tanks, think mini Stalkers...

2) Griffin SRM bomber, that's what I have to say to that...

3) Lights are dead, just generally speaking, it takes an above average pilot to use them, but the game punishes lights for doing what they should be doing, so why use them?

Huh, what it taught me, was the fact that SRMs with a few flamers can really wreck face in brawls.
ESPECIALLY against clanners, because they already run pretty hot.

I've been running a Trebuchet with 3 flamers and 3 SRM-6s with artemis and it was pretty good (apart from the times i ran into 4-man premades. No amount of flamers can help against that)

What I've learned from this event: CWFPWhatever is so dead that they can't even bribe people to play it.

Griffins are pretty sweet for the IS in combatting the clanners - though with Novas in the opposition, I like to take arms off and cycle back to them if I get a chance.

I have a bad stubborn streak of wanting my Oxide to work, and while it has its uses hitting the wrong kind of organized clan opposition it is just useless in my hands. Ymmv.

Didn't teach me anything. I played one match and then went back to QP.

Scout mode will always be SRM GRFs vs SPL/SL Novas, as far as I'm concerned.

Light mechs are totally fine, PGI. Don't you worry. Just keep gathering data for a few more months. Then introduce infotech and give light mechs a +30% sensor range and 10% radar detection delay, and everything will be perfect. That will really save my RVN-4X from the SPL Novas.

I run the same but with 3x Medium lasers and it is amazing how well it performs sometimes.

Crabs are decent, but they work different than a lot of other mechs.

Stormcrows with streaks are a crutch for a bad player, most times they can be outplayed through maneuvering. Griffin and Hunchback answer the Nova and Stormcrow, lots of folks don't know their mediums and just play Heavy for IS though.....

IS lights are in a bad place, but there are still a few decent ones outside of the Locust.

I dont like crabs in scouting. Yes, pretty tanky, but somehow i constantly create too much heat, even with just 5 med pulse, big xl engine and all the heatsinks.
In my experience lights in scouting are only viable to gather intel, hide and sprint for the dropship, not really for fighting. One Clan SRM volley and you are toast.
No answer for small laser and streak boats? Oh, yes there is one:
Focus Fire.
Griffins with ECM and 4x ASRM 6 or Shadowhawks with one LBX and 3-4x SRM 4 have pretty much equal firepower to the clan meta counterparts.

1. Against SL novas in a brawl, crabs are going to suck. Close range annihilation is the SL novas job description...
2. How many mechs with insane structure quirks do you have? Bring the right tools, and you can beat streak boats and novas.
3. Lights are a pain to run period. Running into a streak boat is even worse, which is why it hurts IS so much in scouting. However, clan V Clan has VERY few lights as well, and most of those are either bad pilots or are good, but crazy. You have to be crazy to take a light into a fight KNOWING there will probably be streak boats.

#3 coming from someone who ran Cheetahs in our 4 man's in Clan V Clan scouting, since we were running 3 mediums 1 light comps. It worked, but it hurt A LOT...

And quite a bit more tankiness.

Crabs are amazing. I don't know what you are talking about. Its my second favorite medium after the Griffin-2N for scouting. This challenge was a piece of cake.

1.Crabs are ok when you play them in middle of teamate.
And jumping crab is a real killing machine.. Posted Image replace blackjack.

2. IS have answers vs streak boat...

3. Clan lights are dead too.

For one, that is just a troll post.

Two, I forgot about the 2N's, but they require more skill than an 8 SL Nova due to the timing of the missiles.

Other than that, I think my point stands, contradiction and anecdotal evidence doesn't constitute refutation.

aaand he doesn't learn.

sry mate, other people make work what you don't so is that now your issue or other peoples issue?
You point stands for doing it wrong. Make it work as others do. No need to troll people when reality is just l2p because others lerned that while some complain and keep complaining.

why not goup up with those IS palyers here that know how it works and lern form them to imporve yourself? Murhphy ans Spheroid are even in the same faction. so theres no excuse to NOT try it.

Again, you're not making a point, you're just insulting others. I also would note that you don't display your tier.

so you don't see the point that others can do something you can't manage to do?
you don't see the point in grouping up with them to learn from them?

So I could say now you must be blind, but you would take it again as an insult over an fact based statemant that the obvious isn't visible for you.

There are no circumstances in which the Nova is faster than 87kph, or the Stormcrow is faster than 104kph. Most, if not all, of the builds used on those two in Scouting are short-range brawlers, and they are very common in Scouting. If dropping into this environment, plan accordingly. Use speed and mid-long range weapons to stay out of their optimal range, or bring something that brawls as well as they do. I see plenty of Shadowhawk, Griffins, and Hunchbacks brawling well in Scouting.

That said, this event has brought out too many people trying to play FP like solo QP, often to disastrous and salty results. It really does not matter what you bring if you are facing a coordinated 4-man with PUG's that have little or no interest in working together for a win instead of chasing a match score goal.

I would also point out that if any of these supposed strategies worked, then why are the Clans are curb stomping the IS on EVERY PLANET in scout mode?

Lights were not easy to use before the size buff for the average player.

Now they have had the size nerf, except the locust which became smaller, above average skills are needed to get a consistent score with them.

But you should know this you've been here long enough

Crabs aren't bad either..

Lol well they might be now as they grew bigger as well
