Faction Warfare just needs an alternate main gametype to Orbital Cannon Attack/Defend that uses normal maps. Ideally the new gametype would have a shared objective like capture the Spaceport or Mechlab or Dropship(s) where both teams are assaulting. Or Search and Destroy. Do that and you would get new and old players from the PUG cue playing FW and it would really take-off as the main gameplay type.

Maze maps favor 12 mans too much and when you only lose in FW it does not seem as realistic as PUG matches so it defeats the roleplay Faction Warfare is trying to inspire.

Sometimes I think that we are thinking about ideas and concepts on a much higher level than what PGI has in mind.

We spent the whole night in FP. Its still a fun game mode if you just find some friends to drop with. Had some epic fights over the rooftops of vitric. Keep getting people to queue up bloodwolf; you are not alone when it comes to liking the mode.

Right now there are 39 players on THUNE. that is before I started in the empty que of 0. nobody wants to play?

save the small talk, all i care about at this point is playing those sweet fw matches, if you want some today come get it. I am clan wolf by the way and we are dropping against the space vikings. You looking for matches, well you got some. Clan wolf and space vikings lets get it.

Good for you, I honestly hope you enjoy. Posted Image

I will not play FW.
1 - Long Tom
2 - Respawning
3 - Upcoming Clan vs IS buckets
4 - Teams vs PUGs
5 - Too many join one Faction that dominates the map
6 - Scouting mode
7 - Only 2 non-scouting modes
8 - Poorly thought out design (covers numerous things I have not listed)

I'd do a video showing why but it would be too depressing to make or watch. I have enough enduring the complainers in QP, my tolerance is shot. I had not played for 7 months, now I just do the minimum for an event and that is if I am interested.

I tried to play a few times, but 5 minutes after staring at an empty lobby I went to Quick Play instead.

The reason I don't play FW is that every time I have enough time to spend on FW, the ques are empty, and I don't wanna waste 20 minutes or more waiting for a match.

Likewise, when I long into my unit, or even some other unit's TS, there are few players there, and of those players, they don't wanna play FW..

So yeah..

PGI really needs to address this..

I used to love FW.
Just kinda get tired of fighting op clan mechs.
ED might have leveled the playing field somewhat.
But PGI wimped out on that.
We tried to get some IS on IS action going.
But no ones seem to being playing IS mechs.
Just my personal feeling.
So meh.

I still love it. Still want to play it as my main game mode. Still want to wage war in the Inner Sphere vs other Great Houses and the Clans. I want to drop in grand Unit vs Unit battle for planetary control.

I want Community Warfare/Faction Warfare.

However I have come to the realization that those days are behind us. The proliferation of Special Snowflakes playing all alone and as the center of the universe in a Group/Unit Queue will force CW into the lowest common denominator gameplay, just like QP.

Why not organize your Unit/Group to play CW as it was primarily designed? Get a group and drop. Another Group/Unit will show up.

Why not join Faction TS and try to get something going instead of dropping solo into a Group/Unit queue, stare at the screen for 5 mins, and complain that nobody is showing up.

I do, actually. It's just that there's no real difference between current FP and QP. And I don't like QP all that much.

Just here to remind everyone that this game used queues to make matches quickly and fairly.

Then faction play was being made and quite a few players demanded/asked for lobbies to be made to make matches. That since "this is supposed to be a team game it should cater to units" so make lobbies so units can form up and initiate attacks.

So faction play was made to do this.

So now that's done I cant wait until faction play is made properly this time.

Its not all players fault because faction play has been in beta for years now. It never was finished properly yet and these years of beta made it a lot more obvious how to in fact finish it properly.

A note on what I am expecting. I expect that faction play will be way better and that even after the next huge update there will of course be more updates to improve it. Its a huge thing that isn't being done quickly so far and maybe that is for the best, to get it right.

Simply, queues and other changes like have been hinted at coming wont make it as good as it can be, but ALOT better.

Anyone can make some guesses what else may be added to make it even better and some are obvious like NPC tanks, but there are a lot of other cool things they may do.

I think this December marks the 2 year anniversary for FW/CW. I played for the first two months and decided I had enough with it. There were too many issues going unresolved, and it wasn't as fun to play as quick play even though the game mode in FW I felt were better than QP game modes. I thought at the time they would eventually make some changes, things would get better and I would return. Two years later there have been only minor changes made. None of which have convinced me to play. The 'bucket' changes discussed a few town hall meetings ago sounds like a step in the right direction but is only addressing one issue out of many that still exist. What exactly is PGI's long term development plan for FW? I know what the community wants, I know what I want. I'm not hearing much from PGI. What do they want it to be, is this it?

The development of this game mode has been real slow. The community was complaining about the queuing system when it first launch. Two years into it, they might have a solution with the 'bucket' changes (oh that still hasn't been implemented yet). At this rate we might actually have a mode worth playing in 8 to 10 years.

Some of the early access games take that long to be done. Look at some other very high priced games like Star Citizen. Anyway I hope this game doesn't take that long that's for sure.

I really want to play FW but I don't want to play in extremely one-sided encounters on the same choke-point filled maps over and over again.

I want to care about the faction I am affiliated with. Right now I don't care, I barely notice what faction I am actually in from one week to the next. There is no immersion, how can there be when I find myself in a different faction every week?

In fact I hardly see the point in being in a unit at all any more. Especially since everyone that deserted FW is now busy ruining the group QP que, and every match is now a one-sided massacre.

I don't want to spend more time waiting to get into a game than actually in-game.
