If our Mechs had DFA, still fell over, or balance were an issue at all, a female design would be better. Lower center of gravity, bigger, sturdy hips to absorb more damage & provide a more stable shooting platform.
With no melee weapons to swing, large arms and a brawny chest could be considered impractical.

Wouldn't sell very well at all.

Maybe not 'feminine' per se, but Phoenix Hawks are a bit prancey.

It's official... MWO is dead.

How can we continue to support such a misogynist culture of hate and derision...

Most mechs that are humanoid shaped still only vaguely resemble humans. I wouldn't even call them masculine or feminine in shape.

Also the Sexy female form is wildly impractical for a war machine. Mechs are built to endure punishment and frankly a female shape is less structurally sound.

Cleavage would catch enemy fire rather than deflect it. This is why most female armour in fantasy is garbage.

And hourglass shape is extremly weak in the middle.

Narrow hips are better for running. Most sprinters have narrower than average hips because it gives them an advantage over wide hips.

Small feet are also seen as a feminine. Large feet are simply far better for massive war machines to stay balanced.

If this is what it takes to get physical combat, maybe it's worth it.

Um no there isn't any really. The reason for this is because if you look at the first few decades of cars they all seem sharp angels which makes them look bulky or beefy. As time went on cars eventually turned into more curved designs.

Now why this has not happened in mechwarrior or battletech maybe because it shows the lack of progression in mech design because of the periods of loss tech due to the continual fighting. So you had less development and more trying to hold onto what they have. As for clan mechs though you will see more curves int heir features than IS mechs (not to say that there are not some IS mechs that do not have curves).

Example of a less bulky looking or angular mech would be clan cheeto. Where as IS had more basic designs like a trash can Urbie.

I had a similar conversation with my daughter the other day.

What I find interesting is that a lot of mechs are actually quite gender neutral but are perceived as "male".
  • Firestarters
  • Wolfhounds
  • Enforcers
  • Vindicators
  • Quickdraws
  • Thunderbolts
  • Awesomes
  • Battlemasters
All have the prerequisite jutting chest, narrowing waist and hip areas to accommodate even anime versions of the female form. But because they aren't "form fitting" they are perceived as masculine. Jump into your mech bay, paint them pink to help imagining female pilots and the perception of them as masculine can change very rapidly...

Hello all,
I am not really very familiar with the Battltech universe but I was looking through all of the mechs the other day in game and unless I am blind I noticed that every single mech appears to have a masculine frame.

By that I mean mechs have bulky arms and chests, overall proportions and designs that appear much more like a "guy" than a girl. Some way more tough guy looking than others.

I was curious, is there space in the game for feminine looking mechs?

If anyone has played warframe for instance, that is a good idea of the kind of thing I mean, having both masculine and feminine frame designs.

I play Warframe (thought i'm a few content updates behind, so sorry is the following is lore inaccurate). The frames are built to contain the operator and as such, have humanoid features. Battlemechs and Omni-Mechs are tanks with legs and have no gender.

Hey, Pgi!

Today's charming forum topics, namely the Zito's mom thread in the faction play section, Appogee's and PhoenixFire's pissing match, and this thread in particular, ought to make it pretty clear to you that this community is f--king desperate and starving for some new content to discuss, dissect, and assuming it is utter junk (like CW) perhaps even play. Please oh please give us something, other than a god damn mech pack soonTM...for all our sake, as well as the fourm's.

There's "Sara's Jenner"
There's the "Banshee," and its hero variant, "La Malinche"

I'm probably missing a few; these are what came to mind off the top of my head.

But none of these are feminine, really. They aren't really masculine, either. They are giant stompy automatons with guns (There's a joke in there about how that makes them masculine after all. It's low hanging fruit; you're better than that).

I think the more important questions are, "Are there any women piloting mechs in MW:O? Are there any women playing the game?"

The answer to that is, "Yes, some. But probably not enough. Certainly not enough in these forums. Some of the outrage generated in response to your question is so intense its embarrassing.

I hope you are not some kind of troll come to taunt the gorillas (sadly, it looks as if you've done just that). I hope you are someone asking an earnest question because you may want to play the game. If there's one thing we need in this community, its more players, certainly the kind who check out the forums before they join. Be welcome.

Your mech will be as feminine as you want it to be. And feel free to visit the forums and flame out over whatever comes to mind. It can't be any worse than most of the dumb shite the rest of us post around here.

Although it's important to know that topics not specifically game-related (politics, gender studies, books, movies, dumb jokes, etc.) should stay in the "Off Topic" section. We're a diverse lot, and these forums would quickly become unreadable if we didn't refrain from pushing our ideologies on each other, particularly in an election year.

Firestarters, Vindicators, and Quickdraws may be neutral, but Wolfhounds, Enforcers, Thunderbolts, Battlemasters, and Awesomes are all fairly masculine. They're usually drawn with massive shoulders and barrel chests - When combined with just being big all over, thats the barrel look - The Super Huge Male. When combined with narrow waists, you form whats sometimes called the 'Quarterback' profile, perhaps best displayed by...

Well, the reason why, for what I believe, Warframe has both masculine and feminine frames is because before the Second Dream quest the frames were thought to be suits of armor that were conduits for the Void powers the Tenno possessed, instead of what actually seems the case right now (the frames are still conduits, but not actually a suit). And back in the days before the long slumber, the Tenno didn't have wardrobes full of different frames. So the male Tenno got masculine frames and the female Tenno got feminine frames.

Gameplay-wise: the genders of the frames were chosen to fit their theme and role, most likely.

Also, Valkyr Prime is best frame.

Ah, I've done nothing story-wise since... Limbo was released, I think?
