Roughneck Lore And Blueprint

As for the loadout options, of what I see, its a whole lot of meh (I dont have a problem with the lack of MASC, ECM or other goodies) but I do have an issue with just how limited the hardpoints are on the chassis.
I like it, and I like PGI adding new things to the lore (instead of being slaves to the lore, which TBH there are still a lot of fan favorite mechs that people want, and I cant blame them for getting angry when their mech hasnt come up yet). I think this is great, but I think they could have been a little more clearer that this was going to be a wholly original mech when they announced it. I mean its not like there hasnt been dozens of mechs ret-conned into the lore.

- PGI does not give a sh*t about players' feedback
- PGI's staff does not play the game they make

I was about to never buy a mechpack again.
I was about to not get lured in by preorder nonsense ever.
That said, the roughneck looks FING GLORIOUS!
Hands down best looking mech so far.
Well played PGI, hate to admit it but you may have opened up my wallet again.

And... do they do this lore stuff for all the mechs? Because it's awesome. I do that sort of thing all the time on my own as solo RPGs. Good times!

This seems like an appropriate place to ask:
As a longtime fan of Battletech, when you heard that PGI was making a MMO game based on that setting that would place you in the pilot's seat - what, exactly, were you expecting?
That's why I find it hard, as a relative newcomer (though I played my share of MW3 and MW4 back in the day) to the Battletech universe, to understand the criticisms. How did you think a tabletop game with dice and tables and miniatures and turn-based play and hexagonal tiles and roleplaying was going to be represented in what was so clearly an FPS? If anything, I feel increasingly that this was actually never really the game you were looking for... though your spirits may be lifted some at the recent announcements. Expanding on existing lore isn't a terrible thing but a lot of folks act like PGI has murdered the franchise. If MWO really was all about generating enough money for them to launch MW5... is that really so bad? Were promises made that they wouldn't create new mech designs, innovate ways to simulate clan warfare in the MMO platform, or that they'd follow any particular in-setting timeline?
I'm genuinely curious as to how so many fans of BT seem unable to understand that MWO simply isn't a tabletop game - but, like I said, I'm new to the game (started in April) and the setting in a general sense. Am I missing something?

Anyways, let's let them have a little fun. I think Alex and the mercy dev team have the right to try something new. Honestly, the multi hundred year history of Battletech could use a few more designs. For that period of time, they are pretty sparse.

PGI doesn't owe you a damn thing.
and don't say they do because you bought a mech pack. because you got what you paid for, early access to that mech.
now, say, if you helped fix Alex's car or something, that'd be different

"According to rumor, the designer had serious dirt on the CEO" ... is this a parallel to real life, and thus the true reason behind this mech's introduction, perhaps? (Substitute Alex and Russ into that sentence.)

Nice. Alex finally got to make a mech without being as restricted as he normally is with lore and trying to update an older mech.
