MW5 looks sweet! Everything is scaled correctly and the mechs actually "feel" like massive walking tanks. Please switch MWO to Unreal Engine.

Talked about that at length with friends considering the Cryengine is incredibly glitchy to begin with and probably the #1 for most of MWO problems (as well for Star Citizen) and the Unreal Engine is just so damn good (Killing Floor 2) but that would mean re-coding the entire game... as in a whole new MWO. Not saying it shouldn't be in the cards but we probably wont see it until after MW5, with luck they will be able to use the MW5 code for a Unreal powered MWO.

PGI is great at hype, designing games not so much.

You mean like a Star Citizen hangar?

Adapted for MWO. There has been many suggestion on how such a module should be. Mine being the best obviously =).

I cannot complain about much of anything here although we still have to wait for some stuff that I thought was going to be released in December.

Skill tree revamp? Yes, it was much needed and eliminating the quirks is the way to go about it. Let the players make the decisions on what enhancements are the most important to them. Clan Mechs will have a lot less options than the IS Mechs if they currently have no quirks. This is a good thing. Let my Mech Technician tweak my Mech in the MechBay to work the way I want it too. Heck, yes!

FW changes including rolling some of the QP assets that are already developed into Faction Play to solve some of the monotony of playing the same pinch point maps over and over. Good move. Utilize the stuff that you have developed to improve the Faction Warfare battles. I was one of those that suggested this so how can I complain?

Bucket consolidation. It is a necessary evil of low population. The population simply cannot support all the factions so making two factions but allowing each unit or house to keep their tags and banners is the best compromise possible. Special events that are choreographed by PGI will play out much like the battle scenarios in BattleTech table top with certain House, Clans or units battling each other for worlds or segments of the map with associated prizes.

Escort mode. This or convoy has been requested by many members of this community for a long time. I am worried it has not been seen on PTS but excited that it will be in game in two weeks.

More decals. More old Mechs that can finally use all the camo patterns. More quirk adjustments in preparation for the new skill tree.

Skill tree, Assault Mode (Base Capture), IK, more FP changes and a future SP game announced.

Many complain the game is stagnant and has become old and stale. Well, change is coming. I chose to remain cautiously optimistic that these changes will make MWO better and more interesting to play. If they do then I will be here this time next year. If they do not then I will not be.

Edit: By the way PGI, thank you for the apology for some of the missteps in 2016. Hopefully, you have learned from them and 2017 will go smoother.

No, ZUUL, Russ was very clear that you do not need 3 variants of one mech to master the skill trees, so you can just work with what you have currently.

thats a little better... i guess, thanks for that

After all this time, IK and Skill Tree Revamp still didn't make it into the December patch ...???

Thank you for the commitment to refund all the Modules and XP spent to date.

(Now you're not going to double/triple/quadruple the XP requirements under the new system, are you?)

One big announcement by PGI, but I don't expect them to follow up in quality.

There is too little to late to save CW coming and still they are kicking lore with their foods.

I hope your new skill tree isn't super grindy.

Of course it will be. I predict it will require 3 times the XP to unlock vs the previous system.

PGI have players who will be sitting on hundreds of million of XP once they refund it. So they will create a much more extensive Mech tree with a lot more grind as an 'incentive' for us to continue to play and level new Mechs.

In fact, if you own two of the same variant, the revised skill tree is for one specific mech. The other mechs of the same variant will not share skill trees, so they can be configured differently. And each mech's skill tree will have limits.

Provided PGI wants to or is able to renew their license in 2018. Russ and others did say that PGI had to hit certain criteria to extend the license to 2020s.

Afair they said they have optional the rights till 2020 when the game meets certain Benchmarks...

Oh well:
"As to commitment to the brand I have some news to share with the community that honestly we hadn’t decided yet on how or when we were going to announce it, so let me share it with you here now. On Nov 8th 2013 PGI and Microsoft finalized negotiations on an extension to PGI’s MechWarrior license. Whereas before our license ran out mid 2015 we are now ensured rights until mid-2018 and also if certain criteria is met will have until mid-2020 to continue to develop MechWarrior products including MWO."
http://mwomercs.com/...e-inner-sphere/

So if they met that criteria to extend their hold on the license, and is successful with the launch of MW5, then MW5 possibly could be the combat engine, the foundation, for an updated MWO on the Unreal engine. That is looking at it from a positive viewpoint. As for another developer, the grass is not always greener on the other side, it could be an empty desert...

A lot of good changes in the right direction. It seems like they've taken a lot of feedback from the community on board. Well done PGI.

Also.... Mechwarrior 5.... SO THAT'S WHAT THEY"VE BEEN HIDING ALL THIS TIME!!!! It looks AMAZING! Cannot wait to play a new MW single-player game.

If I once owned 3 highlanders, simply to master my Heavy Metal, and all the mech XP is refunded, do I have to buy back the two highlanders I trashed and level them up again and trash them again? I have several mechs in my stable mastered, but have otherwise tossed other variants. Or are you getting rid of the requirement to basic 3 up to elite the chassis (or a similar mechanic where you must own multiples of a chassis to master it)? I really don't want to buy back mechs I never wanted in the first place simply to master the one I want....

EDIT: Apparently Russ answered this via livestream/at the con today. I just had to dig for the answers here. For those who don't want to dig: gone is the golden rule of 3's. Every variant of every mech has it's own skill tree, and even, I guess, if you own multiple identical variants, each of them can have it's own tree. TY for those who took the time to answer in this thread!

If that's the case, it just seems kind of skeezy to encourage folks to dump a lot of MC on converting XP to GXP before making a change to turn it all unilaterally into the same XP, is all.

I am just waiting for Assault. I LOVE ASSAULT (the old version not this fakeass thing which doesn't have anything to actually assault).

To see how long people have had to wait, it's not inspired me with hope for any of the timelines mentioned. PGI, there's nothing wrong with fixing things (or in this case REVERTING). Please please please please put the damn turrets back in, just for now.

Still getting really really really really stupid matches where no one has done anything and the game is over.

---

Also Dom needs a small change, destroy the enemy radar to REDUCE the counter, not increase it. This makes capping at the start all more important (weighing up the fact you are giving your life just to cap, now they'll be a strategic reason).

----------------

Once these small bits are done, you can focus on the long haul. Why give us have baked bits to live off ?!

Just to add to that, having two mechs of the same variant will not automatically share the same skill tree like before though. EACH mech will have its own skill tree.

Duh, just saw your edited section.. /goes into hiding...

You do realise that's just a cinematic, right?

It's not in-game footage.

Just like the MW5 trailer that never turned into a game, It's an aspirational artist's impression of the game they would like to create, assuming they are funded, capable, not lying again, etc.
