Taking a look at the alpha video posted below shows similarities between lasers and ballistics. However, it seems missiles have a new way of working it seems. Taking a look at both videos shows that missiles have been reworked, both SRM and LRM, to vary. SRM seems to stream in, as seen in Mechwarrior 4 Series, and LRMs seem to operate like clan LRMs from Mechwarrior: Online.

I think PGI has realized that they have neither the knowledge nor the possibilities and experience to create a working multiplayer. You do not have any knowledge and manpower at all ... PGI is a long line of Gameisaster, where MWO in 18 Years.
Now they are trying their first with a successful singelplayer to collect money and gain experience with the new engine before they make a break with a multiplayer and mouth-to-mouth.

Wait, I thought MW5 was supposed to have 4-player coop?

I hope they look at games like Monster Hunter World that also 4 player coop game. Monster Hunter can be play solo just fine but coops were real fun is at. Maybe limited time missions with good changes to find mechs you want stuff like that.
